Came to look at cute dead animals, but stayed for the absolute chaos that is taxidermy. Make your visit more exciting and search for the funniest animal replicas you can find! Meme potential 10/10

The Zoological Museum of Zurich is a natural history museum located in Zurich, Switzerland. It houses a diverse collection of animal specimens, fossils, and exhibits related to the animal kingdom. The museum provides educational opportunities for visitors to learn about various aspects of zoology and biodiversity.

This museum is perfect for teaching children while having fun. Many interactive activities to enjoy. Free entrance. A large parking lot is very close, in a small park on the main road. Once here, after the visit, I suggest to spend some time at the nearby terrace, to enjoy a great view of the city. If you come by public transport, then it's worth to ride the funicular whose station is at the terrace. Children would love that. And also most of the grown ups.

Very nice museum with lot of animals, skeletons and dinosaur fossils. It is not big but they managed to fill it out with amazing stuff. Entry is for free. There is a parking in front of the museum. You will find here lot of information about the nature. It is a two hour visit. Recommending getting here by taking Polybahn from Central tram stop.

Great little museum to wander around. Free entry (needed vaccine certification). Lots of families seemed to be happily absorbed. Attractive displays. Probably not worth a special visit (unless you have children) but made a nice pop-in on the way to a viewpoint.

A very educative and fun to visit place in Zurich. The exhibits are arranged according to geographical regions such as tropical, dessert and so on which provide the visitors a clear and unique experience in understanding our world and it's past. It is definitely worth the visit for any nature lovers. A friendly place for kids and family too.

The Zoological Museum in Zurich is easily accessible by tram. Entrance to the museum is free. The Zoological Museum is very suitable for children as it has many areas where children can see what the many animals look like and it also has headphones to hear the different animal sounds. It also has a large area where many fossilized dinosaurs can be seen.

Small and free. Great with kids as there is lots to see and little to read. I appreciated the ground floor exhibitions of local animals. Maybe it lacks some additional information besides the name.

Wonderful museum!! Very very interesting, there are a lot of kind of animals, birds, insects from over the world 😯😯 museum have 2 floors, 1st floor show different animals from Europe, Asia, USA, insects shown with microscopes what is very comfortable to see and discover 🤩👏 2d flor (downstairs) have mostly wild animals from African continents. Kids like this museum a lot, there is also small room for kids with books and toys, souvenir shop and small cafe with coffee automat. Museum for free, but everything only in German language. I advise to visit for sure!!!!!! 🇨🇭💖🌺👏👏👏👏

An incredible amount of animals and activities for all ages. We came here on a rainy day not really knowing what was inside and we were pleasantly surprised. Animals from all over the world, lots of cool interactive exhibits with insects and birds, fossils, books, and just so much to look at. An extremely well put together museum. Entry is free but would still recommend even if it wasn't.

Zoological Museum of Zurich is an ultimate museum and very big. I visited the place on the weekend and there was no queue. You'll find numerous of animals, birds, dinosaurs, fishes and other wild animal sculptures inside the museum. There is no entry fee for the museum and you can definitely add it to your list when you visit Zurich. I've attached the most of the remains and sculpture pictures and I had an amazing experience. You are definitely going to love it if you have little interest in history and zoology. Highly recommended!!!

One of the must place to visit if you are in Zurich its free. Worth to visit by any age group of people! Beautiful exhibition with so many animals and fossils some of them still looks like real and some are magnificent. It's so clean and staff is really kind and professional. They have many exhibits like Masterpiece exhibits which is highlight. All the specimen are displayed according to their geographic distributions and clear details. They have activities for kids often. Good place to introduce variety of animals, birds, reptiles etc to children's, without making them board. I think they are closed on Monday, please check with them

The Zoological museum of Zurich University has a huge collection of animals from all continent. It is free entry and close normally on Monday. I was there many time since my PhD (2003-3009). We return there at 2012 with my wife and 3-years old daugther. Hopefully, next year we could visit there after COVID19 mass vaccination. Nearby the Zoological museum, there is the Paleontological museum as well. Thank you to the University to own nice collection for students and people to learn the world.

Very enjoyed the museum. Informative. Very good to introduce animals to children. Animals models are of high quality. Really look like live. Sceletons if ancient creatures are also natural. By the way, entry is free of charge. But it worth to buy a ticket either.

Free entrance. I like the Masterpiece exhibition. There are 50 beautiful fossils, including trilobites with magnificent details, definitely worth a visit. I also like the specimen collection in the basement, where the specimen are displayed according to their geographic distributions.

Beautiful Museum, well organised with an interactive aspect for young and old. Definitely worth a visit for anyone remotely interested, you won't regret it. Translations are also available if needed.

To start off with, it’s FREE entrance which you would not believe based on the interesting stuff that’s been showcased there. It will take an hour for you to explore the entire Museum. Pre historic creatures and all sorts of animal specimens. Don’t forget to make a donation at the exit so they could continue to have this.

A day well spent there.. i love it generally but love the "Masterpieces, artwork of natures" exhibit the most.. its a true art of nature and the fact that its combining nature and art is very smart and a creative move.. the museum can also be very crowded and noisy on weekends i guess.. visited on a saturday and its jammed packed with families with kids.. i can tell why kids love to be there, its a good way to explore and understands nature for them. And also its FREE.. 👍👍👍 Downside is as a tourist, cant pay any souvenir by card, as of Feb 2023, everything there is needed to be paid by cash.

A magical place to go with the family. The children enjoyed to watch from dinosaurs to animals from every continent. Insects, birds,.... One needs at least an hour to go through the museum. A fun morning or afternoon.

Wonderful museum to bring school children for a learning experience about ancient and modern animals around the world. Paleontological exhibits are quite varied, from fossils of aquatic life to those which ruled the skies. Descriptions are all in German unfortunately, so foreign tourists are disadvantaged. Taxidermy exhibits are well done, except for the poor lone giraffe whose fur is clearly too exposed and worn out in patches. Interactive exhibits are available, especially the rotating microscopes and magnifying glasses to view insects and other small animals. However, these were not accompanied with audio guides to assist understanding. This museum can be enhanced with puzzles or game activities for younger students to immerse themselves with a more exciting range of learning opportunities in an otherwise too academic environment.

Giving it 4 stars because it's free and offered something inexpensive to do in a really expensive place. But the taxidermy ranged from really well done to absolutely awful. Not all the signs had english translations :(

I have a soft spot for museums of natural history. Although this is not in the same league as the Museum or Natural History in New York (IMO the best museum in New York), it is fun and free. The cloakroom is unstaffed. Lots of kids and they are excited to learn. Well worth a visit (it's free)

What an amazing place for kids and adults alike! It's put on by the university and is totally free! The lower level is closed until November but there was plenty to see, hear and experience on the top floor. I couldn't get my 3 year old out of there but since there was a limited amount of people allowed (due to Covid) we left so to respect the people in line. We'll be coming back!
