COVID-19 TESTING WAITING TIME 3 HOURS!!! This is incredible. So, you make an appointment on their website, but what is it for? I had the appointment at 11:35 (and arrived 30 minutes earlier as they recommend) but had the test only at 14:00. Basically, there is a queue outside, which continues in the tent, than you’re screened and another waiting area, than you get to another waiting area where you’re registered at HUG and than you get to another waiting area and wait to be called for the test. This is just amazing how slow the process can be. And this is for people to be tested and avoid any additional risks? HUG, why you don’t inform people that they will queue for 2-3 hours? What is the point of registering in advance and getting an appointment? How do you make sure people that actually don’t have the virus are not getting it there? Are you a contributor of spreading the virus or you try to contain it? Thus, if you don’t have Covid-19, try at least not to get it there while queueing for 3 hours. Bravo HUG! Amazing process management!

Today I took a test to be able to travel to the Netherlands at the Geneva Hospital. It was not a free test or a social assistance test. I don't speak French and the treatment I received was awful. The person who took the test scolded me because I didn't speak French and made fun of me. She didn't want to speak English at first but only spoke to reproach me for living in Geneva for 15 months and not speaking French. I explained to her that I work for an international mission to the UN and the main language is not French it's English. It is incredible how in a city like Geneva, which is presumed "international" in the hospital have such a bad attitude.

Very disappointing experience. I had a consultation with a specialist doctor at HUG. The doctor told me she wanted to carefully evaluate my case and I trusted her. We did many useless consultations and she sent me to many other specialists. She also suggested me therapies I had already tried and despite I told her they did not work, I retried them. At each consultation she was explaining my issue to other doctors and asking them for suggestions. After 4 months and A LOT of money spent, she suggested me therapy X but then refused to start it. Last but not least, she called me 5 minutes on the phone and I received a bill for this consultation as well. Honestly, after seeing many different specialists at HUG, I can tell you do not get the service you expect for the price you pay. At first, doctors seems very nice, but then you realize they do not have the experience to treat serious problems (some of them clearly had no idea of the side effects of the drugs they were proposing). Also, they are not able to understand the patient from a psychological point of view, which is very sad. To sum up, I do not recommend this hospital.

Horrendous experience, had to wait half a day and being told lies all day about when I’ll be taken In charge. If you have the choice go to the hôpital de latour not as disrespectful and condescending. (They won’t make you wait half a day without giving any food or caring)

I have been to many emergencies all over the world but I have not seen worse than this hospital! I’m not joking at all. We came in at 9:45 pm or around that and there were 4 behind us OK; we saw the doctor at 4:15 am!!! Just imagine that ! It was just a horrible experience and you might just die from waiting over there. DO NOT GO TO THIS EMERGENCY AT ALL.

Pretty good academic hospital in Geneva. They took good care of my mum. Waiting time at the emergency department is a bit long (a few hours) but when the doctor came he was pretty patient (excuse the pun) and examined my mum thoroughly. Receptionist, triage nurse and the ward nurses are all super friendly. Thank you guys for the service. Some of them speak English (docs and one nurse) but I was able to get by with my amazingly mediocre French. There is a kebab shop just down the road if you need some “emergency” food late at night.

The good, the bad and the ugly... Be prepared to fight for your basic rights, it's a lottery. Hostage taking, badly behaved staff members are doing a lot of damage. It's unfortunate that dominance over helpless, vulnerable patients seems to be the main objective for some of your members. A hospital is a sacred place not a soap opera set. Mediation and management teams need to understand this. Patients and their loved ones have enough to manage as it is. You will find helpful, communicative, respectful, kind individuals working alongside abusive, rude, disturbed, unhappy, patronizing staff. Finally, a big shout out to mature individuals in this hospital who put up with churlish staff, who understand what teamwork means and do their best to help patients, heart&soul.

If there was a rating below one star, this Hospital would be the number one candidate for it. This hospital is the epitome of gross negligence, mistreatment of patients (once they treat them after making them wait for literal hours), abuse of power, condescending asshats. I never actually write reviews but I am compelled to write one as I am sitting in the waiting room with my grandma absolutely appalled by the treatment we have received since our arrival. We have been waiting for hours in the so called “emergency room” and all they have done is take the blood and told us to wait for the doctor who is yet to come. I truly wonder if they have to ship the doctor from godamn mars or something cause why have such a humongous hospital when you are so clearly lacking doctors. It’s like creating willy wonka’s chocolate factory but without the chocolate and just simply with those damned Oompa Loompas. Like I thought the emergence room indicated an emergency was taking place but never mind that’s my bad I should have known it’s the place where time itself goes to die. I truly don’t think the staff at HUG have a grasp on the meaning of an emergency and I hope this review will urge them to get a dictionary and look it up.

This review concerns the psychiatry unit of HUG. My sister turned to HUG for support during an extremely difficult moment. We are still shocked by the inappropriate behavior of Dr. Lamyae Benzakour. We wrote a letter to the mediation service but we think that it is not enough. From our point of view, people, protect yourselves from such professionals.

Apparently the accounting is not allowed to send the husband/children of the customer a copy of the invoice. Of course the patient is dead. Remember my friend your chance is 40% of getting a diagnosis of cancer, and ask your "experts" about their track record...

normally, me and other people I know travel to the CHUV in Lausanne or to the Inselspital in Berne In order to avoid the HUG: demotivated doctors, devices from decades ago and the mentality of doing as little as any how possible. but the sleep clinic is different: I just learned that at the sleep clinic of the HUG, they actually do have the modern devices. I only hope they will be soon available for the benefit of the patients.

Highly unorganized, little rational / pragmatic thinking and sadly no patient centric practices. Doctors continually changing their mind, contradictory advice between medical staff and undoutably trying to make money (excessive testing and hospital overnight stays). Do not come to the EEG / MRI areas; equipment is great but staff dont care about patients. Constantly hearing different opinions and advice. Its a horrible and chaotic hospital.

i am severely disappointed with this hospital. ive unfortunately had to attend to the emergency section of the hospital twice and each time I’ve had to wait for hours on end. for something that is considered an emergency, they for sure don’t treat it like one. i know they’re busy and have other clients to take care of, but this extent is just appalling. never in my life have i experienced service like this for a hospital.

Such a horrible hospital and disgusting heartless staff! I came there almost faiting with severe stomach pain, they checked my blood pressure, forced me to stand up and asked me to walk all the way to the maternity while I was literally fainting in front of their eyes. If you have emergency please look for a better hospital. This is the worst hospital I have ever visited.

Wow.. I came to leave an unsatisfactory review but as I'm reading others, there's no need, there are so many! And above all, the automated repetitive response to each review only proves the point. This is not a hospital. A university for some and body parts cemetery for others. Despite one or two smiles and undoubtedly many genuine, well educated and well meaning individuals, the experience I have over 5 years!..is as I said, unsatisfactory. I won't even go into individual details of those "unlucky" experiences I've had. From lost paperwork causing extended traumas, to constant misdiagnosis by the department of doctors de premier recours, to prolapsed disc causing osteo appointments, to horrendous experience in the post operation ward (extremely recent). The Arab speaking nurse celebrating and laughing as watching news on TV showing developing war to shaming conversations around the corner with other nurses about the patients. I tried to call the right department to only ask for the supervisor's contact email so that I can politely explain my latest issues with yet another misdiagnosis, but my request was enthusiastically rejected...so here I am, posting a review instead as it seems the best way (only maybe) to get the attention from a computer-like speaking review "answer machine". Thank you!

Worst Hospital where i ever have been. The make a quick blood, pulse check and then they Instantly going to Business and want me to pay. I told them i have pain and broke my rips, but they dont care. Because i am not from here however i am waiting since 8 o clock pm, we have now 2:32 am. And still nobody cares. I asked them allready once. As a tourist i recommend you to go to another Hospital. This is unaccepatble. Waiting with brokes rips in waiting room since 7 hours.

It feels really strange to write a review for such a large and important hospital but I am writing this review simply because it seems that there are many negative reviews. Yes, there will always be disappointments, delays and even mistakes at a place this large. So I accept that some of the people writing negative reviews really had bad experiences - I am very sorry for that. Overall, I personally think that this is an excellent hospital - they literally saved the life of my friend with several hours long emergency brain surgery! Two other friends also had major surgeries here with very positive outcomes. Let's keep in mind that perfection does not exist and let's be grateful that we have in Geneva this excellent modern public hospital which serves us at a reasonable cost. My own experiences were always positive and I am truly grateful for the work of staff, nurses, doctors - thank you very much for your service and kind care!!

I visited this place at July, 13, 2021. I had a tick in my skin at the back. So, I came to Urgency. At the night. It was not crowdy. The waiting time was acceptable. The young doctor or student tryed to removed it, but failed since it was her first experience with the tick. Finally I saw three students or doctors around me. It worked. Since I have no insurance, I paid for the visit (5800 Forfait de base). The hand written Versement was given to me as well as the receipt. The person who filled my documents said that some document will be e-mailed to me but it still not happened. Nevertheless, I was very nice that he speaks Russian.

The whole team of the CCU is amazing 🙏 even though I don’t speak french everybody was so friendly and helpful. Especially the nurses are doing a wonderful job, they are so kind and their positive energy is helping the patients as well as their relatives. The hospital is perfectly organized and it is very clean. The cafeteria and the waiting areas are comfortable and have nice art and decorations. Thank you 🙏

Zero result waiting time is 3-4 hours. No doctors available. They promised to help me in the next 15 minutes and spend another nice hour sitting in an empty room.

Went to urgency at 1100 p.m. I had to wait till 6.00 a.m to be seen by à not very competent assistant. I thought I am dreaming ,am I in Switzerland or it is a third world country. After what we pay for health insurance and taxes, I wonder where the money goes. Incompetent management?

I am so grateful for the emergency care I received. The staff were so efficient, kind and patient with a non-French speaker. The hospital was clean and quiet. Took only 2 hours for consultation, X-ray, and diagnosis. Thank you, HUG!

Had knee and hand surgery here after an accident. The knee surgeon (Dr Tscholl) was excellent, easily reachable, very responsive answered all my questions and explained everything before the surgery. While it was a much more severe injury and longer recovery, I have no complaints. The hand surgeons though... terrible. They avoided answering direct questions, both before and after the surgery, and in one instance outright lied. They still haven't explained why I needed internal fixation over percutaneous pinning. I have a terrible scar that irritates me constantly, and loss of sensation (nerve damage from their cutting), still present 6 months after the surgery. I went elsewhere for follow up, and the surgeon that did my surgery wasn't available/left anyway, off to maim someone else somewhere else. My only follow up at the HUG was with an intern who couldn't answer my questions, and just constantly used the excuse of not knowing because they didn't do the surgery (should still have been present when going over my case pre and post op). Maybe you get excellent care, maybe you regret letting them treat you... So far for me it's 1:1

I got hospitalized on the 22nd of December with an Allergic Reaction due to an Antibiotic I am taking. The evening of the hospitalization, a doctor did checks and lab tests to share with my Dermatologist and Family Doctor so that they could keep track and follow up with my case. On the 12th of January, after 21 days left taking the same Antibiotic and with still the reaction, I do not have any news or lab test nor a diagnosis. If it wasn’t for me calling the call center to ask for a response about it, I would still be without anything. I got finally my lab test results ( that they couldn’t send it by email or communicate the result of it by phone, due to the privacy rules, but now suddenly they could … ) All this DISSERVICE for an amount of more than 600 CHF

Hello, my name is Roman Kesarchuk. From social media, I learned that your clinic has a program to help Ukrainian children in need of heart surgery. These surgeries are performed by the Georgian cardio surgeon Tornike Sologashvili. Could you please confirm if such a program exists in your clinic for Ukrainian children? If so, could you provide contact information for inquiries on this matter? Thank you in advance for your response. Respectfully, Roman Kesarchuk.

spent 2 months in this place because I had to have 4 brain surgeries, one of the nurses there was the sweetest person I've ever met, she honestly made this bad experience a lot better. Overall all the doctors are really thorough and good people who take their jobs seriously, I didn't have a single bad experience there during my 2 month stay.
