Ho Jiak is a must visit while in Sydney. My brother and his girlfriend brought me here for lunch and we returned the next day for dinner, it is that good... The staff are some of the best I have come across and are extremely attentive. I had a baby with me and they were very friendly and helpful, when they saw me heading to the change room one of the staff noticed and popped in and sterilised the change table. The staff were excellent in recommending food and wine, they were very knowledgeable regarding the menu. The food was amazing, there is a wide range of pricing for different budgets with a street menu and a mains menu. The wine is expensive but is a high end selection. The restaurant is vegan friendly and they have a separate menu for different eating requirements. There is a nice ambience reflecting a high end restaurant but also providing a family friendly atmosphere.

Loved the interior decoration, cleanliness & spacious seating! Food & cocktails were delicious & full of flavour! The staff were very genuine & caring, providing us with very warm service. Our favourites of the day included the Laksa Bomb dumplings & the salted duck egg yolk squid - absolutely delicious! Our cocktails were also perfectly balanced & looked very aesthetic! Food is on the pricier side compared to other south east asian restaurants but worth it!

Food was awesome!!!!! The service is great! It's is soooo good, everthing is very delicious. Must try if you love South East Asian food. Plus the service, every person who works their seems like they like their job. They looks happy and gives us the best suggestions. We made a reservation and they provided us the nice corner table which is so perfect for us. We arrived today and order things that was a bit duplicating for entre and main and he suggested the menu that make more sense which turn out so perfectly. I love the caring that the host and everyone give to us eventhough it's not a fine dinning restaurant but feel like one! My bad that I could not remember the waiter that took care of our table but would like to know that you have provided the best warm and caring service that beyond the price we've paid for. I am so happy and impressed. Please find out the guy who is the main person, serve the table for 6 in the corner table on Friday 12 Aug booked at 7.15pm. Please let him know that we are really appreciated and all the team did a great job. Thank you so much!!!

Went here for for a friend's birthday. Great ambience and service. Our waitstaff has been very helpful in recommending food for us. The food themselves are very tasty, maybe a bit pricey. The timing of food coming out was good, we didn't have to wait long. We didn't feel rushed to finish our food, although the time we went was a weekday lunch so the place was nearly empty. Overall it was a pleasant experience and would be happy to dine here again.

As we were here for a birthday dinner with a large group I thought it would be tricky as we had to share across a long table. However the staff was so accommodating, friendly and so thoughtful to separate our dishes individually for us. Great Malaysian fusion fare, very tasty and in perfect sharing portions. Loved the pipi Black pepper noodles, Salted duck egg squid, kangkung belacan, short ribs and oysters. Thanks Ho Jiak!

Escape the hustle and bustle of the CBD into the tranquil setting of this restaurant. The Malaysian food is tasty and full of flavour. Our favourite was the Laksa! The prices are high but the portions are big! Service was quick and friendly. We will definitely visit again. Highly recommended!

Service was great. Food was great. Restaurant nice. However if you don’t want to be disappointed when you get the bill, make sure you ask the ‘market price’ of anything before ordering. Our bill was close to $600 for two people. In all honesty had I of known what we were going to pay, I would have went to The Crown.

This is the best Malaysian food I've ever eaten! It's definitely a restaurant you come with with a group of friends to try a bit of everything! I highly recommend their scallops, their grilled prawns and the ceviche. All dishes are nice but these were my stand outs for sure! I can't wait to come back!

Some of the best malaysian food I've ever had. The beef rib is amazing with the crispy outside and soft inside.

We had an incredible dining experience at Ho Jiak Town Hall. We have been to the Haymarket branch a few time and always enjoyed them. Finally got to try the popular dish Laksa Bomb, it is indeed TASTY bomb 🤤 Great wok hei for CKT and Indomie goreng. Authentic Malaysian food 🙌🏻 we definitely would come back again the next time we are in Sydney. The staff are friendly and nice too. Interior is well thought too. 😊 Looking forward to try another branch specialty dishes.

Finally got a chance to try this Malaysian restaurant in city. Food is very special with a Cantonese Twist. I really enjoyed the fried rice and steam fish. Very authentic and flavourful

Malaysian food can be simplistic, sweet as dessert, and greasy as a hangover cure. None of these are necessary, and this place shows you why. Sure, it is Malaysian, so you will get some sugar, spice and that's ok...they build a flavour profile that's the envy of lesser, and cheaper joints. The service is all pro and efficient as an electric bicycle. It's not a cheap eat, but neither is it overpriced. Even the eponymous beer is really excellent, though full priced at $13. All in all a solid choice.

I just had an incredible dining experience at this Malaysian restaurant. From the moment I walked in, the rich aroma of spices filled the air. I ordered the Coral Trout - Canto Steamed, Cantonese Fried Rice, Chilli Crab and Lobster Sang Mee, etc. All dishes were absolutely delightful. The flavors were authentic, and it truly felt like a culinary journey to Malaysia. The staff was attentive and offered great recommendations. I'll definitely be coming back for more and highly recommend this place to anyone craving genuine Malaysian cuisine!

Update: changing my 2 star review to 4 stars. I provided the feedback below to Ho Jiak and their staff got in contact with me to review the issue and provide me with a voucher for my next visit. Their chefs will look into maintaining the seasonings applied to food better. As a repeat customer, a once off bad experience doesn't mean that it's an overall bad restaurant. I've definitely had some amazing food here, and I appreciate their approach to good customer experiences. Original post: I'm a repeat customer and yesterday would be my last visit. The menu has changed since my last visit (there's now less options). My friends and I ordered some stuff we usually order and some additional items, including the $150 promotional mud crab. Everything was so salty yesterday, it was like the chef went to town with the bottle of salt. The cherry on top to this bad experience was the chilli mud crab sauce which is meant to be so delicious that you mop it up with roti - it was like drinking straight out of a salt bottle after the third bite. Did not finish the sauce and had to throw my roti out (as I covered it in sauce thinking it would be nice). Additionally my friends and I weren't offered gloves to eat the mud crab. We were getting the sauce all over our hands. However, when we looked to the table 2 away from us, everyone was given gloves. It instantly made us uncomfortable because why was our table given the peasant treatment? I do not recommend this place.

We had lunch with a group of 6 at the Town Hall branch and everyone went above and beyond. Yuli especially was very helpful recommending dishes and quantities. We still ordered too much as the portion sizes are above average i'd say and without a blink we got given a big bag and our leftovers neatly packed away to take home. Would come back anytime and definitely recommend if you are looking for a relaxed space to enjoy authentic and delicious food. Standout dishes were the kingfish sahimi, xo butter scallops, the rendang, char koay teow but that is not to take away from the other dishes we ordered, all was fantastic and packed full of flavour... Thanks for having us. Mika.

I am truely pleased with this restaurant. The service by Henky the waiter as well as Andy the manager is extraordinary. I felt like a VIP walking in a restaurant. Their hard work and their passion on the job is next level. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes as well, our dishes were beautiful and also very delicious. Already thinking of coming back.

Excellent service and their menu is fantastic, we love Ho Jiak Town! Our favourite dishes are their Seafood Nasi Lemak, Steam Barra w/Assam sauce (cooked perfectly) and Hainese Chicken - all so delish!

I tried the truffle menu collab with big sam young. Unfortunately disappointing food, as the truffle was just shaved on and not fully infused. Tuna poke 1/5- tasteless, sushi rice was thick and took over the texture Prawn toast 0/5- had a cheese melted inside which over took the prawn toast Cold mee & smoked duck 4/5- great! 255 watch 1kg rib eye is amazing but they served by itself and got sickening quickly. Everything else was average. Just food with truffle. No theme just dishes with truffle. Not inspiring as other years

Wow...such an amazing experiance!!! The food is resembling price for the quality and fariety that they have. Very taste and yummy!! I could not fault this place anyway and our waitress and staff knew exactly what they were doing and just an awesome experience. If you ever get the chance I would highly recommend it 5 out 5 stars.

Lovely place for a good taste of Malaysian. I really love the food here. It can be pricey but worth it for me. I really like the atmosphere, huge spacious place to host parties and gatherings. I love their service too.

Food was a 4 star because some dishes were great and others were alright. They were all yummy, though. Service was attentive and with a smile. I personally did not like the dessert selection and the wine list, which was impressive but expensive. I will visit this place again.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal in Ho Jiak Town hall. From the starter to the dessert, the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. The Service are also great, quick, happy and polite. Good for big group too. I always bring my friends from overseas to try. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Sydney. Enjoy..

We came here for a family affair dinner and received wonderfully warm service from start to finish, the food was fresh and delicious, and we also received a complimentary dessert! Could not fault anything. A must try is the lobster with salted duck egg yolk, divine.
