Very rude behavior by the lady on the reception. She has no empathy how much you are in pain. She talks badly with my patient. I came with my patient of severe ear pain and waited for more then 3 hours. Only blood pressure was checked and never been called up by the doctors. Pathetic place in the name of emergency department. Believe me this is not at all ED. Non competitive staff. I would have give -10 star for this hospital.

For ED, please go elsewhere. I had the most horrible experience here. Incompetent and dismissive medical staff (doctors & nurses). I had a severe reaction to a pain medication, where I had uncontrollable stomach spasms and ulcer, pain so severe i had trouble breathing. I needed several shots of morphine to calm it down. The ED doctors and nurses dismissed my cry for help and my explanation of the possible cause of this pain. I told them i had this kind of severe stomach ulcer before, same symptoms. Without even testing for this, they dismissed me, the patient, saying it can't be a stomach ulcer as i could not have reaction/side effects to pain meds, when in fact it was. They kept doing unnecessary test for kidney stone. As they never bothered to test for stomach ulcer as I told them they should and did all other unnecessary tests, they couldn't conclusively state the cause of my pain (IT WAS STOMACH ULCER!!!). They actually concluded it was severe constipation and sent me home after 8 hours of holding me in ED, so many unnecessary blood tests that gave me bruises all over my arms and feet (one of the nurses can't even do this right, she kept patronising me by claiming constipation was my problem when she was absolutely clueless). i was dumbfounded when they tried to convince me all will be good once I go to toilet and empty my bowel, and sent me home with movicon (for constipation)! I don't have constipation. Doctors and nurses here need more training in basic patient care: listen to your patients! So presumptuous, arrogant and downright incompetent. I told my GP of this horrific experience and he told me ED should be avoided if possible. They display this kind of medical incompetence frequently and treat patients like we are idiots. I will avoid coming here for any medical treatments in the future, especially their ED.

I came with a child (severe intellectual disability). The child was suffering from a severe finger infection. I asked to examine the child as soon as possible as she was in pain and was getting cranky. I said the child would not wait (due to her disability). We were waiting for 1,5 hours. When I said we were leaving as the child was getting very cranky, the person asked to wait for a nurse (there were 3 people sitting at the desk doing basically nothing). The nurse did not come for another 20 minutes. We went home and are going to call for an ambulance so the child is examined straight away. What a waste of government resources due to staff incompetence.

We went to Hornsby ED Friday evening at 6.30pm with a painful&crying baby and was immediately seen by Triage and the doctor soon after. We came home at 8pm with such relaxed feeling seeing our baby is back to herself, we even got a call from the doctor checking how she was going when we back at home. Caring, professional - we are so grateful for all the reception staff and the doctors!

14 March 3.55 am. The short story: i asked the night nurse for ear plugs as I was having trouble sleeping. In an unfriendly, uncaring tone of voice, I was told I could stick tissues in my ears. Her colleague was as un userfriendly. Choose wisely if you have an option. I think it's called 'quick stay' or something similar. By the way, it's not busy....whatever these 2 might say.

My second time in this ED, absolutely brilliant care for a dislocated finger. The staff were efficient and empathetic, I could not fault the treatment!

ANOTHER!! Woeful excuse for a hospital. Some of the front desk receptionists would be better with a back room job. So far I have wasted almost 9 hours waiting! To see a doctor. Still haven’t! REMEMBER!! Don’t waste your vote on a useless politician!

This review is to express my gratitude to the ED team. Without them I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this review to them. Since I walked into the emergency, the reception they took me in, the triage and the fast track team responded really quickly. I’m so amazed of how lovely and caring they are. They are so passionate of what they do. Can’t express how thankful I am enough. More than anything how can every doctor and nurse can be so beautiful and so smart. I do understand the negative reviews, they probably experienced something differently but some people just can’t understand that they are working really hard to save lives everyday, on their feet with high focus and pressure for over 10 hrs daily, why don’t you try to be them for one day. Please stop the hate and unproductive and unmotivated reviews. It’s not helping them pursuing and bring the best out of their career. I owe the ED team my breath today and I will be thinking of them until I’m grey. Forever grateful. Ava

What a great team here!!! Friendly, helpful, professional and so compassionate. This is what caring for people looks like!! We came here for 2 x tick removals and we were sorted out pretty quickly after initially going to the local GP. GP did not know anything about ticks. How can you be a GP in Sydney (where tick bites are so common) and not know the removal procedure? No wonder people do not trust their GPs anymore. Well done to Hornsby Hospital!! And we are so sorry the local GPs push this simple procedure on to the Hospital Emergency units. Much gratitude to Hornsby Hospital. Thank you!!

Not as bad as John Hunter Hospital but still pretty bad. No consideration for confidentiality, staff are dirty by not washing their hands appropriately especially after seeing the youngest RN pick his nose and touch the computer mouse. If after he seen I noticed he didn't do anything. Absolutely disgusting. Is that the kind of people you train these days. Save the infection and head to RPA.

I was on high fever(39.3). Told the nurse Panodal, Nurofen doesn't work for me. Hopefully I can get a needle to reduce temperature fast. But the nurse insist to give me Panodal. They even didn't give me any iceblock to reduce temperature. Absolutely did nothing. We waited from 2pm to. 7pm to get treatment. Really bad experience
