My recent visit to Briars was, unfortunately, marred by a series of disappointments that collectively painted a picture of inadequate service and management. Despite having a reservation for 6:00, the evening took an unexpected turn as we found ourselves waiting until 7:15 to place our order. The delay was attributed to a supposed work function, only for us to later discover that this explanation was entirely untrue. The lack of transparency regarding the delay already set a negative tone for the evening. When I approached the manager to express my concerns and seek clarification, the interaction proved to be disheartening. Instead of addressing the issue with empathy and professionalism, the manager's demeanor was surprisingly rude and dismissive. This encounter with the manager not only failed to provide a resolution but also left me questioning the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction. The apparent disregard for our time and the misleading information regarding the delay demonstrated a lack of communication and organizational competence. Beyond the delay and the manager's discourteous behavior, the overall ambiance of the restaurant did little to compensate for the inconvenience. The atmosphere seemed tense, and the staff appeared overwhelmed, further contributing to the less-than-pleasant experience. In conclusion, my visit to Briars was characterized by a cascade of disappointments – from the initial delay and misinformation to the unprofessional conduct of the manager. Such lapses in service and communication are regrettably reflective of a lack of attention to detail and a customer-centric approach. As a result, I cannot recommend Briars to others seeking a positive dining experience.

So terrible staff, the Security trashy man show his bad manner to everyone include kids. He didn't allow kids carry their water bottle. ask kids bottle should leave outside. Finally he stop complain before annoyed every parents. Then he said only people with driver licence ID can access not include passport ....... Keep complain that he is not happy with everything. Hi owner, your rude staff seems he doesn't like his job and client. As client we don't need come to suffer such rude behaviour. And he know nothing about his job except make touble to visitor. I will visit him again without kids talk about is this make sense passport is not ID? and kids can not have their water bottle in?

I would have given a negative result but alas one was the least I could give them. The kitchen CLOSED at 6:30 just 30 mins after our booked table and we were told that there was a corporate function and the kitchen was overwhelmed with orders. We had children who were hungry - imagine telling them that we had to wait over 30 mins to order??? We asked to speak to the manager who said that it wasn’t his fault as it was Christmas and denied there was a corporate function. We tried to explain that if we knew there was a “corporate function” we would have booked elsewhere or at least should have been told when we booked. He seemed to misunderstand that expecting a restaurant with over 100 seats plus and outdoor eating area having an overwhelmed kitchen that just closed when bookings arrived was just unreasonable. I asked him whether we could order food and bring it in and his response was a blunt “no”. It’s like going to a pub that doesn’t serve alcohol. Stupid - unreasonable and a room full of patrons who are sitting at empty tables. Nonsensical. Don’t go here. Go to Massey Park. Food is plentiful, top quality and speedy. Bar staff managed to serve plentiful patrons but the kitchen crippled at 6:30 and decided to close. DONT GO HERE. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND A KITCHEN THAT DECIDES TO CLOSE 30 minutes after you arrive.

Pretty disappointing visit to Briars Sports. Bar prices are reasonable but the bistro is a noisy mess. Go on a Sunday and the place is teeming with families and kids being left to run amok while their parents chat at tables. A child spilled a drink in the main dining room and ran off creating a hazard. Food all over the floor and tables not cleared. Bistro ordering staff member was rude. Two burgers were ordered at $22 each. Food took 35 mins to arrive. The chicken burger was not crispy as promised. The coleslaw was the stuff you buy in bulk from the deli at Coles with that thick cream dressing and that was the only flavour you could taste. Was expecting house made slaw. Really uninspiring. Beef burger was ok. The beer battered fries were the only redeeming quality. Cooked to perfection. Bowling greens in need of TLC. Better bowlos to go to in Inner West unless you want to let your kids run wild for the afternoon and disturb everyone else.

Celebrated my son's bday here! Great for celebrations with families at "The Backyard". Food was great (we had dips, antipasto and pizzas) and staff were accommodating. Big backspace for toddlers to play with play equipment, balls and foam blocks. BYO balls is recommended. Tip: if you're having a party, order ahead via email as weekends are packed with celebrations! Also you can put a tab on the bar if needed. P.s. New owners less than 3 months ago, service from Head chef was great!

Chef took great care with my Coeliac meal, can definitely recommend. Seperate fryers were used and chicken was delicious.

Venue is nice with outlooks to the park and bowling Green. The food was also decent however the catering staff are completely out of their depth. Was there for an event and the food came out intermittently and was not as booked for the event. They also refused to provide the included coffee orders as they were too busy

Truly terrible establishment. Outside play area is sad with just a small plastic centre in the corner and some low level sports infrastructure. Outdoor dining is lacking and run down. The food is so shockingly bad. The pizzas taste like band-aids and the burgers resemble roadkill with low quality mustard. The service is mediocre and relatively slow. I wish I had never laid eyes on this place, let alone eaten there.
