Cute little restaurant in Newtown serving bao styled dishes. Very delicious, although the tofu was a bit bland. We got two burgers and a bao with two drinks, and it was definitely not filling enough. Expect to order lots here if you want to fill up.

The perfect mid week date night! Everything was super fresh and delicious, the soft shell crab and beef bao buns were a big hit. We also had the BBC baoger, fine spice mushrooms and fried wings which were delicious. The gaytime bao and blueberry spring rolls are a must try. 4 star rating because the fries we ordered were never brought out and the service was a little slow for a weeknight. Overall would defiantly go back again.

I got the spicy bao noodles on Ubereats and was very disappointed. Not only was it ridiculous that I was paying $5 extra for a single small slice of pork belly, but I also had noodles that had raw dough in them, as seen in the photos below. While the sauce was decently spicy and garnishing were nice, I was left thoroughly underwhelmed by the experience.

came here on a friend’s recommendation. we ordered 2 noodle dishes and 2 mocktails. the drinks were so fresh, light, fun and smell INCREDIBLE. noodle was on the average side with basic seasoning (a bit sweet for me) and was overpriced (portion was for 1/2 individual rather than 1 person)!!! the staff were so friendly, food came with minimal waiting time.

I liked that you can actually customise your meal ie less hot, a few more spices, without ruining the chef’s expertise. We definitely enjoyed it here! So if you find yourself torn among the many restos along King Street in Newtown, stop thinking already! Belly Bao should be getting into your belly!

Loved the food, staff were very friendly and helpful. Portions ARE small but at the price set, i think it was very reasonable. I wish i lived close enough to order delivery!

Such a delicious looking menu, it was so hard to choose our dishes. Soft Shell crab bao was most certainly the highlight - so fresh and filling. We also loved the curry fries, such a simple idea but Belly Bao executed it perfectly. The service was also friendly and efficient. We dined on a Friday night and highly recommend you make a booking if you want to get a table, we saw the staff turning so many people away! Highly recommended restaurant.

Really enjoyed the food and decor at Belly Bao. As a non drinker I loved the choice of mocktails, mine was delicious. The staff were very friendly thank you but in an almost empty restaurant at 6pm ish my food took ages. The chef did give me some complementary fries for waiting patiently. Lucky I had some time up my sleeve. I will definitely be back.

One of the *best* burgers I have had in my whole life, no exaggeration. We ordered takeaway, and though the serving sizes were small (and very pricey for the size) they were absolutely delicious. I genuinely wasn't expecting this to be among the best burgers I've had in Sydney, but it easily was. Highly recommend, and their noodles are super super tasty too! As an added bonus, they still use Beyond as their meat substitute of choice instead of impossible, and yeah that's subjective but it is my preferred substitute, so for me it gives the restaurant bonus points!

We had the golden Gaytime bao for desserts and it was amazing. The deep-fried bao with golden gay time ice cream with the sauce and cocoa powder was just the perfect flavour combination. They have a lot of veg/vegan options even in the mains. The wait staff were absolutely lovely. Perfect for a date night as the vibe of the place is very nice and cozy.

Great bao place, there were 4 of us, we ordered 2 Cheeseburger spring roll, 8 baos, Burata, 2 ciders and 1 soft drinks $130. Staff were very friendly.

Really liked some of the food. Cheeseburgers spring rolls are an easy win with me. The spicy noodle dish was amazing. The Burrata was fresh as well and a good consistency. The bao buns however just didn’t stand out enough for a venue that named itself belly bao. Overall a really good experience. Venue is on the busiest street in Newtown so it’s packed out even on a Wednesday when we went. But staff got the ball rolling quickly and all food came out in an acceptable time.a

Reckon this is the third time I come visit, and they did it, once again. Such a unique fusion restaurant. Quality is consistent. The crispy tofu bao continued to be the crowd favourite, despite us meat eaters. Price point is great, affordable while the quality of food is just chef kiss. Absolutely worth your time, money. I have yet to see a restaurant that can rival Belly Bao (serving similar bao type of food). An area of improvement is perhaps their soft braised beef short ribs, the sauce made the bao soggy so it was an odd feeling eating it. We ordered: slow braised beef rib bao, soft shell crab bao, crispy tofu bao, crispy pork belly bao and the baoger.

Definitely somewhere I’d love to go back to!! Food is delicious (those bao buns are super soft), the cocktails are great and I loved the atmosphere! Highly recommend making a booking though as it’s not the biggest restaurant, and it’s super popular!

Fun place to dine. Service is fast and friendly. The food is really nice, the beef bao is a little wet which is a little disappointing, but everything else was good.

Food was amazing, so full of flavour! The staff were lovely and even though they had a full house throughout the night, they were efficient and quick with their service. Highly recommend trying their spicy noodles which pack the heat, and their braised beef and pork baos which just melts in your mouth.

I went there on my friend's recommendation and loved it! We ordered Chicken baos and Spicy noodles. They were so amazing, perfect amount of spice and suace. Quantity is a bit less but worth it. Go for an evening snack or a light Brunch, you won't be disappointed. Staff are so warm and welcoming. Loved the vibe.

Belly bao was a trendy and fun place for a casual dinner. Every dish was delicious, especially the spicy noodles! Unfortunately, 1 star docked because we originally ordered the half chicken with salty egg sauce and had change our order on 2 separate occasions after that 1) there was no half chickens (we changed to wings) and 2) there was no more salty egg (we changed to original). The jungle juice was also less flavoursome than expected but still a refreshing treat. I do want to come back to try the salty egg chicken next time!

There aren't many restaurants I would return to not because they aren't great but because o like to try new things. I would 100% return to belly bao though. The orange chicken is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had and all three baos were delicious. The chopped baoger felt like just eating a normal cheeseburger but a good cheeseburger. Pandan balls were a bit too sweet and the gaytime bao while a visual masterpiece didn't wow the tastebuds the same. Still solid and very unique desserts! Definitely recommend.

Loved: The food, the space, excellent range of drinks with non alcoholic options. Did not love: Writing down my own order, too-loud music that made me feel like I was dining in a General Pants. I dunno, maybe I'm just not the early 20s target market?

Very quick and friendly service Food was super fresh Buns were soft and fluffy, Chicken crispy and perfectly fried and the fries were really tasty. The dessert spring roll with ice cream was amazing too. Really happy to come here again

Friendly staff yummy baos! What more can you ask for! Fave is definitely the pork crackling bao along with the soft shell crab. We got the Chinese broccoli for some greens and it was in a nice oil soy sauce. Ordered the karaoke tea (lychee +mint+bourbon pitcher. Definitely a fresh drink for summer

Absolutely delicious food here! There isn't anything I'd change about the food, it's also reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly. Will be coming back again!
