Recently stayed here and experienced several issues from before checking in until check out. Although most of these were addressed, the service is just not 5-star standard as you are paying a premium and expect 5-star service in return. If you book through American Express, make sure you remind the check-in staff as there was no record of our booking and no benefits given until we asked. We were not advised on our room until about 4pm when we asked the staff, only then to be given the key to another guest's room. The pool area is taken over by the public eating take away meals out of paper bags from outside of the hotel, leaving hardly any space at all for paying guests. The pool is for guests only apparently though that rule is not enforced funnily enough. We were lucky enough to get a spot after waiting an hour. Bathtub in the room was full of hair from previous guests. Things like this makes a 5-star hotel look and feel cheap.

Everything about this place is stunning. The rooms with the marble, right down to the finest of details such as the linen on the bed. Just beautiful the view and all, definitely worth the price! The bar/ restaurant serves the best food! Everything I tried was so good, and im a big foodie so im quite critical. The rooftop pool, the bar up there, is also immaculate, clean, well designed & you'll want to be there for hours. The only negatives, were that the service could've been a little better. They could be alot more helpful, and more prompt. It's luxurious but the service is really lacking. Alot of guest complained about the same thing whilst I was staying there.

We are a returning guest and IHG member. We had my 50th weekend at Double Bay and occupied a Suite, Bay Room, and Garden Room. The check-in was amazing and rooms were wonderful. We visited the roof top pool and tried to call down to the bar for a drink. Nobody took our call and I needed to go down from Level 6 to Lobby to order my drink. As a suggestion, could you put a phone up there for guests to call room service or the bar direct, I understand the bar is not manned in Winter and perhaps this could be a better option?. We also tried to order drinks at the bar Saturday night and were told it was closed, even though people were still there. On Sunday we visited the bar and lounge for Breakfast. There was a confusion with our rooms, someone had quoted our room for Breakfast and then it took half an hr for our coffees and tea to be delivered. No-one cleared our plates until we asked and there was 3 people standing talking at the bar. I really feel the Food and Beverage area could be improved to maintain your 5 Star rating. Overall our stay was amazing and with better Food and Beverage service it would make it that much better. We will stay again and would recommend

Am currently staying at the hotel, one night down one to go and must say I’m shocked at the service thus far. In a nutshell, many mistakes have been made with 0 acknowledgement or apologies for the errors. For the price we’ve paid, we were hoping for a seamless experience with our first newborn however I’ve probably had better service from a motel. 1) booking was cancelled the day of our arrival, apparently a ‘glitch in the system’ luckily I decided to check our reservation the day we were arriving and noticed it had been cancelled. We were then charged a higher rate even though when I spoke to the hotel on the phone they had mentioned the same rate would be charged. We then arrived at 3pm, the check in time and room wasn’t ready for 30 minutes. 2) travel cot- after requesting a cot 3 times and being told that the request had been processed we arrived to the room with no travel cot for our 5 month old. The cot brought to our room had a large sheet thrown on it as opposed to a fitted sheet, incredibly unsafe for baby. When this was raised they brought up the exact same large sheet without even tucking it in presenting the same choking / smothering hazard. Joke. 3) when calling the concierge, you’re put on hold for minutes then hung up on. You need to physically go downstairs to get anything done. When you go downstairs and say this, there is no acknowledgement or apology for this lack of service, instead you’re ignored. If you’re looking for luxury at a luxury price tag, go anywhere else. An Airbnb would present better service.

Thank you to everyone at The InterContinental in Double Bay. We stayed there for our wedding and had much prep to do. Everyone was so helpful and we are so thankful for the opportunity to stay in the Royal Suite. The coordination, ease, helpfulness, environment, location and professionalism was amazing. Our wedding experience was nothing short of spectacular and so thank you for being a large part of that. We’ve since returned to stay with our dogs (in a non suite room- which are classy and comfortable) and they were welcomed as well and had the best time.

Great place but please don't forget to turn on the air-condition back on after the smoke machine. I'm surprised by the quality of the Steak and how it was cooked perfectly for a wedding reception of over 200 people. This is certainly a big achievement by the kitchen staffs. .

If you are debating of staying at Double Bay vs Sydney, then pick the one in Sydney. It was my big mistake to move from Sydney one to Double bay. The contrast is day and night 1. Location: If you come to Sydney as a tourist, do not stay here. The double bay ferry is temporarily suspended. Getting around is much harder. 2. Status recognition: A Intercontinental Double Bay, I have to ask for it while I did not need to at Intercontinental Sydney 3. The room: The room is dated, lamp not working, the shower door does not block the water. Oh to get to your room, you need to use 2 elevators! Compared to Intercontinental Sydney which is very good. 4: Upgrade As an Ambassador, they "upgraded" me to the room next to the construction site. That was noisy. 5: Onsite restaurant: I had lunch at both hotel. The service at Double Bay is pretty bad. They seated us for 15 mins without any contact for menu or drink at all while the service at Intercontinental Sydney is impeccable. The food is sub par vs the one we have at Intercontinental Sydney

We are family from Melbourne that were looking to have a nice family rest in the beautiful Double Bay, Sydney. we arrived to the hotel last Friday the 3rd of Nov and we stay in the hotel for 4x nights until Tuesday the 7th of Nov. However from the moment we arrived we realized the hotel is definitely not a 5x stars hotel and if yes definitely not value the costly price. The hotel and rooms are very hold facilities. but the team members are very kind & nice and the location is fantastic. However, nobody inform us that renovations are taking place next to the hotel (from left side and from the back side of the hotel), when the view and the noise are extremely unpleasant. To conclude very disappointed vacation, not feel like 5x start experience, defiantly when the nice view is disturb with construction machine and during Friday, Monday and Tuesday we are waked up with construction noise of trucks, drilling and hammering. (I wish I can upload the video to share the noise)

Gorgeous luxury hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and made us feel like special guests. We especially loved the breakfast buffet and club lounge, the cocktails and high tea were delightful!

Embark on a journey into the captivating world of the InterContinental Double Bay, an exquisite and exclusive hotel nestled in Sydney's prestigious suburb. Formerly known as the Ritz-Carlton Sydney, this opulent establishment has hosted luminaries like Princess Diana, Madonna, Elton John, and Bill Clinton. After experiencing challenging times, it underwent a metamorphic transformation, emerging as the InterContinental Sydney Double Bay with renewed allure. As a Diamond Elite Ambassador of IHG, my stay began with a warm welcome, where I was pleasantly surprised with a double upgrade to a splendid "1 King Classic Balcony Bayside" room. The hotel staff was attentive and hospitable throughout, offering a glass of champagne during check-in, and honouring my Club Lounge access along with other privileges. The room was generously spacious and clean, featuring a remarkable TV system with an impressive selection of on-demand options. The bathroom, though compact, provided a relaxing experience with a shower and luxurious amenities. A delightful welcome amenity, including chocolate truffles and macarons, added to the experience. I indulged in room service, savouring the delectable Ōra King Salmon Gravlax paired with a glass of Benjamin Darnault’s Picpoul de Pinet, an unexpected delight. The hotel's rooftop offered a breathtaking view of Double Bay, with a lovely pool and seating areas to unwind and enjoy the vibrant harbour while surrounded by tranquility. After a rejuvenating nap, I checked out smoothly, using my Welcome Amenity Drink Vouchers at the bar before bidding farewell to this magnificent hotel. Access to the city was easy, with the nearby ferry providing picturesque journeys to Circular Quay. In summary, my stay at the InterContinental Sydney Double Bay was exceptional, with attentive service, delightful surprises, and memorable experiences. The hotel's proximity to the ferry adds to its charm, making it a hidden gem worth exploring in Sydney.

Just an amazing room & service. My only gripe is the minibar. For how much the room I booked is, I would think that anything non alcoholic or edibles should be complimentary. I paid $6 for a small block chocolate that is barely $2 in the supermarket. Other equivalent priced hotels or even lower offer free minibar. Just my thoughts.

Stayed 1 night for a staycation and, overall, my partner and I had a good time. - The room was great and clean, and the bed was comfy. - The food at the rooftop bar and at the restaurant, The Bar, was amazing (though very pricey!). Service at The Bar was pretty good too. - The pool was a disappointment; it was so small and there weren’t many lounge chairs so you had to come early in the morning to get a spot! But the view is pretty. - The breakfast buffet was not worth it. There weren’t many selections and the food was just okay; though the A la Carte dishes were good.

Heaven on Earth! Staff were delightful, room was immaculate and the food from room service was exactly what i wanted after a long day showing my girlfriend from the UK around the city. Will be back sooner rather than later. If anyone is looking for somewhere close to the city within walking distance of shops, parks and the water, this is the place to go. The pool and facilities were fantastic as well. 5 stars.

Normally I only give feedback back to the hotel staff but in this case I do believe it’s time to make a review. I was very surprised to see the rating on Intercontinental Double Bay because it’s a fantastic hotel. I stay around 180 days in Australia every year and I have to say that Intercontinental Double Bay is by far the best hotel in Australia within IHG -the staff are really nice and personal, the lounge is the best lounge that I have ever been to and the hotel is very boutique, so you will connect with the staff, not like a City hotel where they don’t even remember you, even though you might have stayed there for 5 nights. The reason why I’m doing this review, is for everyone to understand that the rating you see online (which I normally look at myself) is not anywhere near the experience you will get by staying here. I do believe it has to do with people like myself, that just expect the hotel to be rated the best but it does show that most people making reviews are only doing it, if they want to complain about small thing. I have stayed at this hotel since 2016 and every stay has been so pleasant and I just can’t see how Intercontinental Double Bay can do any better because they are doing everything to perfection, so therefore I hope this small review will make a small difference. We all know that it´s the people behind that makes all the difference and this is also why I have to say that Intercontinental Double Bay is above the normal Intercontinental brand. All staff members are so personal and they just want to make your stay as convenient as possible

Just finished work experience here, it is a lovely place. All the chefs are very passionate about the food they make. Silas is a very friendly breakfast chef who prepares the best omelette, while I never got to try it i'm sure that it is very delicious. Adam was very kind and made sure everything was organised and on time. He was kind to all the staff even when they went off task. Robin will make sure that everything is clean while entertaining all the chefs. Patrica always checked up on the staff and made sure everyone was feeling well. Anyone staying at the lovely hotel make sure you stop in to grab something to eat as it will be a great experience made by a very nice team.

This is a beautiful property and excellent location however the service was poor, staff were poorly trained and housekeeping was particularly poor. We had a beautiful suite for several days and would really expect better service than was provided in a 5star property. Having travelled and stayed all over the world in excellent hotels, this was definitely below the standard I would expect.

Beautiful location in double Bay. Loved the view of the room. Nice, cosy and well kept hotel. I just loved the breakfast twice. So fresh and hearty with the most amazing bakery and pastry items. The sourdough bread, the croissant and the coffee were just flawless and perfect.

The Intercontinental Double Bay is a beautiful hotel. The standout for me was the incredible service I received from all of your staff. I will absolutely be staying here regularly now as a result. I would like to mention that Christian was outstanding and went above and beyond for my guests and I. It was very appreciated. Chad at valet was also super friendly. The other valet staff of whom I didn’t get their name should all be commended too! Thank you for a great experience :)

While the building is stunning and some staff were excellent, the experience we had was far from 5 star. Upon checking in to our room we noticed the table and bath was dirty from the previous guests. We asked someone to come up and no one arrived. We figured we would just not use the table or bath at that point. Later on, before going to bed, I noticed a pair of underwear next to my bed and picked them up thinking they were my partners. They were not - yuck! They were a pair of underwear from the previous guest. When we called, the duty manager came up straight away to make a report for the housekeeping staff. We were moved to an 'upgraded' room (literally the same room just two floors higher) and were offered free breakfast the next morning. To top it off, I found bottle caps from the previous gusts in our NEW room, yet, I didn't say anything because I was so exhausted and couldn't be bothered dealing with the whole situation again. No one came to service our room until 4pm when we were from being out, even though we had the "please clean" sign on and pressed the service light. The staff in the bars/restaurants were super hit or miss. Some were excellent (the gentlemen running the breakfast and the blonde women working in the bar) and others made me and my partner feel like an inconvenience. For a 5 star hotel this is extremely overpriced, unhygienic and I hope the owner/upper management actually does something because that was not the experience we have had at competing 5 star hotels. Such a shame for such a beautiful building.

If you're after a luxury hotel experience I'd recommend you try somewhere else. Attention to detail sets a mediocre hotel apart from an impressive one and Intercontinental Double Bay is left a bit lacking. On entering our room there was a bottle of wine, chocolates and a welcome note, addressed to someone else. Called reception and let them know they might have mixed up the rooms. Half an hour later a staff member arrives at the door with a bottle of champagne. We suggested they may perhaps have the wrong room again? Yes they did - and promptly took back the champagne and the wine and the chocolates. It's enough to make Basil Fawlty blush. Two of the five lamps in our room didn't work. The controller next to the bed to operate the curtains was broken. The scales in the bathroom out of batteries. All small things, but something a $600 a night hotel should be able to get right. The view across the harbour is lovely. All the rubbish on the common hotel balcony that no-one could be bothered picking up, not so much. Whether mismanagement or laziness, it feels a little bit like the hotel has given up on being anything more than just barely ok.

I attended the bar/restaurant yesterday with my mother-in-law, and the service was exceptional. We were greeted kindly by the lovely gentleman at the door, and the waitress in the dining room was extremely patient and attentive during our stay. What an excellent venue for tourists and locals alike!
