Great location especially for those maritime enthusiasts. I've been here and the Australian national maritime museum a few times too for multiple occasions and I've loved it every time. The place is a bit busier during school holidays.

If you ever get the chance, come on board the James Craig. It's a beautiful shop staffed by some of the most passionate volunteer guides that I have ever encountered.

As a volunteer guide at the museum I get to show visitors from all over the world our ships and special collections The Carpentaria Light vessel is an old friend now berthed at the museum, but I remember it as a welcome beacon for navigators on ships I served on more than 40 years ago as they passed through the reef and Torres Strait

Best way to see Sydney is aboard the 1902 coal-fired steam launch “Lady Hopetoun” - such an elegant way to cruise.

Maritime history lovingly brought back to life by a dedicated group. All volunteers welcome and newcomers encouraged to join up. No skills required. SHF will teach you all you need to know. A great way to live our past on the water.

By far the Best in every way! I’m a crew member on the James Craig and I can say that all tickets etc, go straight back into the restorations and upkeep of all the vessels in our fleet… If you feel like helping out… Then be sure to volunteer or even become a member! All are welcome!!!

I had the opportunity to visit the James Craig today and was met with a very enthusiastic guide who had a wealth of knowledge about the ship. The ship was fascinating and it was wonderful to see passionate volunteers doing what they loved. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in history.

An easy photo spot to walk by. Families with kids should stop by and view the "pirate" ship. Also pleasant to eat a sandwich on the pier or ice cream as you walk along the waterfront (picked up from Messina nearby).

I love this place, history of Sydney Harbour abounds here. Volunteers work on restoring old sea worthyruise vessels to their former glory, like the James Craig. Enjoy a cruise on one of these around our beautiful Harbour.

Enjoyed a wonderful cruise on the tall ship James Craig, on Aug 1, to escort the Esmeralda into port. My 3rd time on this lovely ship, and as usual the crew were great. very safety conscious, and plied us with a great extended morning tea. What better way to spend time on the harbour. Thanks to all MARY

What a fantastic day at sea on the Tall Ship James Craig! Sydney Harbour looking spectacular on a perfect summer’s day, it was such a delight being onboard this heritage ship. Big shout out to the volunteer crew who really enhanced the whole experience with their knowledge and friendly enthusiasm. I highly recommend sailing on the James Craig - it’s a must do for visitors and locals alike. Tips: if you are prone to seasickness, take TravaCalm before departing to ensure not a moment is missed, talk to the volunteers for extra insight, get in involved in the activities and be part of the ‘living history’. If you are redeeming a Sydney Heritage Fleet e-Gift card, I recommend calling them rather than trying to do it online.
