One star cause the location was good. At around 5pm on a Sunday 18/12/22, one of the staff randomly opened our doors and walked in without a word or knocking and began looking around and talking very rude. We had girls in the room also who were shocked by the entrance. This is not acceptable anywhere and I believe is a breech of privacy and basically rude. The way the reception handled it was that they would just “talk to the staff.” What if someone was changing? How would you deal with that? Not acceptable.

I came to book a room just to be turned away because of my vaccination status which is not even mandated in NSW. Happy to spend my money in a non apartheid hostel!

After spending a few nights at a few other similarly rated hostels, I would say this one is reasonably priced at a great location, but there are a few things that could drastically improve the experience. The rooms: 1. the fitted bedsheet to separate you and a (highly used) mattress do not fit properly and do not cover the entire mattress, adding a secondary (larger) fitted sheet to ensure the entire mattress is covered would make a big difference, especially after witnessing staff not change the fitted sheet (gross). 2. Privacy curtains (!!!) if you are not willing to allow your guests to use sheets as privacy curtains, please install some. 3. Storage lockers (inside rooms) - please add hooks to hang things up/better organise traveller belongings. The toilet/washroom: please add hooks to the back of bathroom doors/a large full length mirror for getting ready would be great! The kitchen: More toasters for morning breakfast, ensuring that we don't run out of bread/other food before 9am and having a recognisable staff member available for replenishing. Additionally, there are never enough cups/cutlery for all of the guests which gets frustrating in the morning. Common area (TV room) - this area is for lounging, it would be great to have a coffee/tea area and be able to enjoy snacks while lounging. The CCTV threat works great in the kitchen, so I think it would work fine here too. TLDR: the kitchen is clean but staff are no where to be found when you run out of food for free breakfast (except at the lobby). The bathrooms are regularly (very lightly) cleaned and need an upgrade (caulking is slightly mouldy). In general the hostel smells kind of mouldy and could use a deep clean but otherwise it's a great location with free breakfast. I would not choose to stay here unless everything else in the area is fully booked.

So great to be back! This place is a dream, it has everything a guest could ever need without any bs or hype. Excellent service, friendly and helpful staff, decent sized rooms, close to all amenities, and an operator who is respectful of his paying guests and their personal space. After a nightmare visit to somewhere else, I'm in Heaven!!! Should have come straight back here 😊🤗 Don't waste your time, money, intelligence, or worth on a dive - be smart and come here from the get-go!

The location is great for transit travellers, staff friendly, but I didn't think much of what was supplied. I chose a private room which was expensive compared to other offerings ie paid $130, whereas a 4 star hotel if available in the same location is $105. Towels are not included ( as they are in many hostels) private rooms are bare ie no extra blankets, no kettle etc. Breakfast was a huge disappointment also - one type of bread (white), 3 spreads and 3 cereals with long life milk (not even fresh). Won't stay there again, and wouldn't recommend.

I did not realize that i did not have valid id until i confirm the room. Payment was already taken. I had digital on my phone but not with me handy. Could not check in because of that. Yes, i can understand the policy, but would have really appreciate , if could have let me stay. it was just for one night. Was really sad because i had no option to go somewhere else. And it was non refundable. Sad🥹

Worst hostel around Central Station, don’t recomend to come, bathrooms are dirty, rooms are full of crazy old people that snore. Kitcken is a mess. If you are between 18-30, I would recommend going to the Wake Up Sydney or YHA Sydney. (Both are were way better and have similar prices). Btw, the recepcionist guy with the tied hair won’t let you leave the luggage in the luggage room once you check out saying it’s full, despite there is always room for one more backpack, no solidarity at all. They also charge you $5 if you leave after 11 a.m, even if it’s only 5 minutes late. Really cheap and bad marketing campaign, would recommend them to change it. After 5 months travelling around the world, it’s the first time this happens to me. Makes them look like a company, insteed of a place for backpackers as they name says. Take that suggestion into consideration and good luck. Total dissapointment.

We stay here for a week - Three Bedroom using alone! The Hostel isn´t very clean, but clean enough for a hostel. Central, you could walk everythink by feet, just 10 min to Darling Habour. If you stay longer than 1 or 2 Days - get the Sydney Pass / I Venture Card. Go to Manly, Coogee, Bondi...

Amazing, just amazing. There is not much to say anything else. For the price you get a free breakfast and very nice staff at the reception. The people were very nice in the rooms, a great atmosphere in the hostel. Reynaldo and Yasmin were very kind. For this price the best you can get. 309 for ever

Have stayed here a couple of times when I had to be in Sydney. Just a couple of streets from China Town and Paddies Market, and easy walking distance to everything else. But my very favourite part is the water pressure in the shower, even if you have to leave your room to use it.

I had a great stay at this hostel! The location is super convenient, with a light rail station right next door and only a 3 to 5-minute walk from the central train station. Plus, there are plenty of attractions nearby. The staff was friendly and always willing to give recommendations for things to do. The free breakfast and Friday pizza night were a nice touch and made it easy to meet new friends. Highly recommend!

Best hostel in Sydney. Rooms are air conditioned which is an absolutely a must have in the Australian climate. I loved that the room was still dark at 9am, having no eyemask this was the best for a bit of a sleep in. The noise is also great, could hear the faintest of city noise but overall the quietest place I’ve stayed in. Directly outside a tram station, walked outside and immediately hopped on a tram to Circular Quay and Chinatown. Really competitive pricing for what you get, I will most definitely be staying here whenever I come back to Sydney.

One of the worst places I have stayed. This hostel clearly accepts anyone through its doors. People staying there ranged from men 60+ to young couples with a new born baby!! Which obviously you hear through the walls when crying. Makes actual backpackers feel uncomfortable. The kitchen was the worst. No boiling water tap and the place was disgusting and filthy. Some scumbag took my food from the fridge to eat for themselves despite it being clearly labelled. When I told reception I got ‘oh sorry’ that was it!! Considering there are signs up all over the kitchen saying you’re on camera and that you’ll be fined for leaving dirty dishes etc. it’s very apparent that the staff don’t follow through with this hence people steeling food, dirty dishes everywhere filling up the sinks and spilt food all over the sides and hobs. Disgusting. Free breakfast was good. Much like most of the city hostels, it is very unsociable. Everyone in the kitchen had headphones on, go into the lounge and it’s dead silent and everyone just on their computers, even in the dorm room you could hear a pin drop. No one is interested in socialising - I think this is because most people staying here are not travelling but working in the city and using this place as a cheap place to stay. Dorm room was a good size. Only plug sockets were in the lockers which made it difficult to use (with a big travel adapter mine didn’t fit in the locker socket!) Despite the convenient location I would never stay here again.

Very bad experience in this hostel. The room was too small for four people, there weren't windows so was always humid and smelly, the kitchen was always dirty and old, there was also no atmosphere. With that price you can get something better.

The rooms were good, but the kitchen was not. They are no windows so it is little bit seedy. We had our food stolen several times. On top of that before leaving we put our luggage in lockers, we paid 17$ just for 9 hours because the machine "bug"...

This is the best budget accomodation I have tried during my three Australian holidays. Do not expect miracles but hey, the staff is friendly, the rooms are without cockroaches, the amenities clean, the breaksfast is free, the Wi-Fi is fast and you are within walking distance to everything in the centre. For the lazy ones, the light rail and Central Station are just in front of or behind the corner.

Ms. Lisa & Ms. Luiza was so helpful and supportive during my stay. They helped me finding my lost mobile charger. I would also like appreciate the guy who mostly were hawai shirt he always carry smile and he is always ready to help and he keeps suggesting good and free party places. I am sorry I forgotten the name.

The hostel is okay, but a bit too expensive for the value. The kitchen is not very clean and not well equipped. Also, the bathrooms only offer a small amount of toilets and showers. Nonetheless, the rooms are fine and the location is good though.

*added: the reply to this from them is completely incorrect, and I assume an attempt to look a bit better. No my children were not allowed into the common areas. Your staff were very rude to them, and to us, and would not allow them inside at all. My 9 year old was eventually let in, after a lot of dramas, and arguing, but my two older ones were refused entry.* I had a room booked, and upon arriving, was told my 9 year old could not stay, as he doesn't have a photo ID. Which is ridiculous, so I asked to speak with the manager, who refused to come speak to me. The two staff at the counter, were quite nice, and I could tell they wanted to help. I also had my two older children with me, who were not staying there. They had a train to catch at 8pm, and were not allowed to wait at the backpackers with us. So we were forced to wait outside until the train left. My 9 year old ended up being able to stay, after a LOT of stress and drama, they took his Medicare number as ID. I didn't expect a lot from this place, but I did expect better than this. Making families wait outside in the dark, rather than allowing us all in for a few hours is just disrespectful, and I'd be ashamed if I ran a business as cold hearted as this.

The manager kicked me out on my birthday because I misepelt my name Then she resold my room for a higher price ($110) right after when i prepaid $60 a week in advance. This lady is pure greed. And then she keeps my $60 for that night? Even though she kicked me out for a name error. So I essentially paid $60 to sleep at the airport and she resales my room for $110 and keeps $60 from me. she's so criminal. Never have I had such a depressing birthday than someone rinsing you for money you already paid. She will squeeze blood from a stone. Bad form....money brings out the worst in some people. And this lady is out to squeeze.

Excellent location 30 seconds walk from Central Station. Spacious rooms and bathrooms, they are always being cleaned. I would only improve the entertainment room, it is somewhat small, old and messy

Dirty hostel with a pungent stench of grease in the lobby which extends to the kitchen whilst mixing with the foul sulphurous drain smell from the washing room. Terrible Wi-Fi, you are better off connecting to the Wi-Fi from the YHA next door which just about reaches. Everyone keeps to themselves.

Cosy little rooms with patient and friendly staff. Glamorous? Look somewhere else. But if you're after a cheap room to yourself, 5 minute walk to everything you need, this is the spot.

Declan, is an ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!! My partner and I had to pick up some items for my youngest brother, and Declan was awesome to deal with, I'm sure the place is worthwhile too, based on the service that we got..! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We stayed at this place for almost three weeks when first arriving to Sydney, we used it as a cheap place to base our selves as we were trying to find jobs and a home of our own. It's not a party hostel or a place to make friends so if that's what you're looking for head else where. The staff were absolutely lovely! So friendly and eager to help anyway they can especially the young guy with the moustache! (Sorry didn't catch your name.) Sure the hostel is a bit run down and the kitchen in the basement is a bit dingy as there is no windows, but it was super duper clean, the staff were always busy and you can tell they were trying to make improvements. Well done team!

I have now finish my stay here, the staff here are very nice and easy going. All the facilities are good and spacious, kitchen has plenty of stuff to use for cooking and plenty room to eat and relax. The rooms are as to be expected in a backpackers with storage and power next to your bed. It's a great affordable place to stay overall.

Book directly with the hotel for even cheaper price. Nice backpackers hotel. Considerably clean and cheap with large and well equipped kitchen area. Super friendly staffs.

I stayed here for 20 days while waiting to move. I had stayed before but this was an extended stay. The place is clean (seen people from housekeeping coming every day), there's space for everybody's stuff (no one here is on a real holiday so loads of luggage) and the Internet is sometimes good and sometimes flakey but I was able to log on most of my online classes. Special appreciation to Love from reception who has gone way and beyond to leave me in the same room and to Nico from housekeeping who would always check on me and gave me fresh sheets when I requested.

Ok but not great. The kitchen has a gross smell so I avoided it and the wifi is extremely slow. I had to use my 4G data the whole time. The rooms and bathrooms are clean though.

was one of the best places and location because of the price.but now the price has gone to ridiculous level and the cheapest being over $300 for a week for a bed in a small room with 4 to 6 other people your much better off getting a room in a very nice share apartment off Facebook market place for less.they also like to turn the ventilation off to save power and most rooms you can't open a window so with like 4 to 6 people in one small room the carbon dioxide from breath and farts biulds up and it really smells bad.and you end up feeling sick from not enough oxygen.not to mention BO depending on the cleanliness of the others in the room.needs desk space in the tv room.people trying to use the kitchen tables for their laptops.tv room sofa needs tossing to the local tip.is a bio hazard.can be random local freaks/addics on lower levels.staff are usually always very nice and friendly.that does make a difference.

I paid 80 for 2 days then when i check out, the receptionist told me i need to pay 10 dollars more because they charged me wrongly. Then, they refused to give me 10 dollars deposit back. I mean. Are you serious? You can't even find this in China!

Good location. Very central. Older building with older rooms but amenities were clean. I would stay again. The lift is crazy slow so we always took the stairs.
