Had a wonderful time at the Capitol Theatre seeing Moulin Rouge. Despite the fact it was a packed theatre we moved through the foyer quite quickly; the door staff were polite and informative. Good number of toilets given the size of the venue. Our view from the dress circle was fantastic - despite being quite far back we didn’t feel at all limited in what we could see and had a really incredible experience. Very close to the Chinatown Light Rail stop and also a short walk from Central Station, so very easily accessible by multiple kinds of public transport.

Spectacular theatre where we saw Beauty and the Beast. The theatre itself was well maintained with meticulous detail to enhance the experience of the show and to transport you into the magical world of the show you're seeing. We were at the top level in a booth and felt like royalty! The seats themselves were a little lumpy however this was a minor complaint. Most seats would have a decent view and the special effects were breathtaking. Close to Central station and the Haymarket area. Can't wait for the next show πŸŽ₯πŸŽπŸ˜€

Beauty and the Beast - fabulous production. Cast were sensational and highly recommend. Capitol Theatre is a beautiful theatre with spotless amenities and a number of them. Easy location to find by public transport and in walking distance to both train stations and metro. Staff were nice.

Great location to watch the theatre. I prefer seats closest to the stage and i couldn't get any closer than the can can tables when watching Moulin Rouge. From my location, i could see clear the facial expressions from the performers and felt the vibrations through the floor as they danced on the stage in front and behind me. It was a wonderful experience.

I have been to the Capitol Theatre a few times to see some productions. The theatre is always present well on the inside and out. The theatre is clean and all the staff are friendly and courteous. This time we spoilt ourselves to the royal box savoury and royal box sweet. They were so easy to collect and easy to enjoy while watching the show. The only fault I could give capitol theatre is not enough seating outside waiting for the show, plus the seats in the theatre are quite uncomfortable as they are ageing. A little upgrade on the seats would make for a much more comfortable viewing experience.

The Capitol Theatre earns a solid 4/5 from me, thanks to an enchanting performance of "Beauty and the Beast" that left a lasting impression. The grandeur of the theater added to the magic of the show, creating a captivating atmosphere for the audience. The production itself was stellar, capturing the essence of the classic tale with impeccable performances and impressive set design. The Capitol Theatre's commitment to delivering top-notch entertainment was evident throughout the evening. However, a minor hiccup in the experience was the extended wait at the bathrooms, particularly for the ladies. The inconvenience slightly detracted from an otherwise seamless evening. Improved restroom management could enhance the overall comfort for patrons. Despite this, the overall experience at the Capitol Theatre was outstanding. The venue's historical charm, coupled with the breathtaking performance of "Beauty and the Beast," made it a memorable night. The staff's professionalism and the theater's ambiance contributed to the overall success of the evening. Capitol Theatre offers a fantastic venue for world-class performances, and "Beauty and the Beast" was a testament to its commitment to quality entertainment. Addressing minor logistical issues, like bathroom wait times, could elevate the overall experience for patrons. Nonetheless, it remains a highly recommended destination for those seeking a magical night of theater.

Such a vibrant scene all throughout the theatre. So much access to facilities. The beauty and the beast show was phenomenal. The workers were extremely helpful. The entire place was kept well tidy and easy to move around . Plenty of space when being seated and good views all around . Highly highly recommend this place for families or even a date night . Thank you for an amazing night and wonderful first experience at the theatre . Will definitely be looking forward to returning soon and grabbing the wife more merchandise.

Beautiful Theater! Stalls are head height with the stage, so worth sitting back a little from the front row for best viewing. Seats are comfortable and audio is great. There is a candy bar inside the theatre on the ground level - often much less busy than the foyer.

Intimate theatre experience. In the dress circle you felt very close to the stage and could see all the action. The sound system was awesome. I could feel the sub woofers. Also happened to catch an awesome show.

Lovely old theatre. So pleased they haven't changed it to a modern ugly building. Easy walk through the park to get to the theatre. Not far from Paddy's markets which has a large shopping centre above it. Plenty of eateries in the area.

Very nice venue that looks really cool on the inside. We really loved the decorations and the overall look both in the foyer and in where the seats are. We only had a bit of an interaction with staff but they were super nice. It also didn't feel too crowded as it was easy to get around. The seats were relatively comfortable, we were also at the top part and found that it was very easy to see the stage.

Host great shows and a great family and friend gathering for special events! Classy interior and very friendly staff. The staff are extremely patient even with big crowds and long queues. Recently watched "Joseph and the amazing techicolor coat." It's a great piece and so fun. Hope can return for more very soon.

A beautiful theatre that knows how to put on a good show. The seats are comfortable and clean, there are plenty of staff to show you to your seat, a lift to the upper level, snack shops outside and inside the theatre, and a souvenir shop. We saw Alice in Wonderland performed by the super talented Australian Ballet. The set, choreography, costume and cast were all 5 star. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the area to grab a bite before or after the show. The light rail is close by and there is a car park next door.

Front row for Beauty & The Beast. Ticketing via the app was superior. Entry fast and efficient. The actual seats are ok. The back is fine but the β€œair pocket lumps” are average. The auditorium looks amazing. Staff are kind and courteous bringing back old world charm to the box office. Many thanks for being a great host.

Lovely old theatre lovingly restored. Comfortable seats. Good temperature to watch stage show 9 to 5. Have lifts for access. Wheelchair friendly. Good service in bars and has Candy bar access in seating areas, also choc tops sold at interval around the seating areas. Parking 4 hours $36. Not a lot of street parking. Short stroll from Central rail station. Not far from Chinatown.

Great theatre, warm atmosphere, friendly staff. I know this is about Capitol but Iv got to mention that I was there to watch dolly's 9-5. Great production. Casey Donovan was outstandung, aswell as all the the other performers. Awesome night had a great time. There is one carpark that you can use that Capitol will validate your parking for $8.00. I cant mention its name cause I don't know but it's worth calling Capitol to find out. We paid $54 for parking, big difference. Worth a phone call.

Love seeing love shows at this theatre. It's art Deco interior creates the true enviroment of what theatre is all about. The atmosphere of true theatre hits you as soon as you enter, to the time you leave after the show. Seats are comfortable and the statues and the blue ceiling of stars transforms you further, and away from the rush and stresses you leave at the front door on entry. Wish there were more theatres of this standard in Sydney.

This is a great theatre. We have now watched two productions here as a family and they were both excellent productions. The staff are polite and attentive. The stage props were controlled seamlessly and without issue. The seating is comfortable and you feel very close to the action.

Finally got to see Come From Away after many, many COVID false starts. Had to change performance dates several times and as my partner required wheelchair seating we had to go through the Capital Theatre box office. Every time contact was made they could not be more helpful (thank you!). The theatre itself is lovely - I have not been for over 30 years but it is still a magnificent venue. Come From Away, by the way, is a fantastic musical and at the time of my typing finishes in Sydney at the end of January 2022. Go see it!

I am a musical theatre person and when it comes to the capital theatre, it hosts some world class productions. I have not yet seen a production at the Capital Theatre which has disappointed. Sound quality and production of theatre at the Capital is next to none within Sydney. Venue food and beverage can put you back a little, but they offer a descent selection. Most views are unobstructed, however even views in the stalls from the side can leave you not seeing the edges of the stage. This is only a problem with a production that uses the whole stage. Woman’s bathroom is normally very busy with a large line.

My wife and I have been here to see a couple of shows and loved it each time. Today we went to see Frozen the musical. It was great. Getting to your seats was done with ease. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. The viewing of the stage was excellent and the show was amazing. A great venue to see amazing shows and the prices were great.

Beautiful theatre. It feels intimate with the design of ceiling and walls. Even if I'm seated near the entrance door I can still see the actors and actresses. I would love to go back here again with my family!

Watched "Beauty and the Beast" musical here on 16/6/2023. Thoroughly enjoyed the musical. The show was two and a half hours in total with 20 minutes break between act 1 and act 2. I recommend that you use the restroom BEFORE the show as there will be a line during the break, especially the ladies room.

  • 5/5 Sophia S. 1 year ago on Google
Every show we see here is amazing and the theatre always looks beautiful presented. The only issue is there are not enough female toilets. It was quicker for me to leave and go across to the local pub to use there toilet and come back ... while other ladies were STILL lining up.

Another amazing night at the Capitol Theatre 🎭 this time for Moulin Rouge. Incredible transformation of a stage. This was an amazing birthday present from my best friend in Melbourne. I love this theatre, it's so grand

Great and a very convenient venue to attend. We seem 9 to 5 Out party of 4 had a ball. Seats could do with a bit of an up grade. Very tied seating , most definitely not comfortable. 2 hrs was to long to site and be comfortable in those old and dilapidated seats. Even though there was an internal.

Great & original venue situated in the heart of the city. Very intimate seating with brilliant views of the stage . I left my phone at the Metro Marlow hotel therefore no internal photos . Returned last year to see the amazing Moulin Rouge and was blown away , particularly by the cost of drinks .

I went to the Capitol Theater with my mum and a friend to watch Moulin Rouge. WOW what an awesome night! The show was fabulous, the cast performance was PHENOMENAL! So well worth the money. Oh, and this was my second musical. I will DEFINITELY be back again.

Lovely theater with nice interior. Seats could be refurbished though. Pretty good views even from the seats at the sides. Toilets are limited as many of the other reviews also states. Wouldn't recommend sitting all the way at the back in the stalls, it's too far away from the stage.

Went to watch Moulin Rouge in this theatre and it was a spectacular show, took us back 100s of years ago to Paris…1889 to be exact. Just shows that love is the most important thing in life. The actors were superb & the theatre one of a kind. One must book tickets in advance as it was house HOUSEFUL even on a weekday. Better than the movie too. All must watch.

  • 5/5 Peta K. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful theatre with great seats. Not a bad seat in the stalls (image attached is from the very back row of stalls). I have sat in all areas of this theatre and I've never been disappointed. I would highly recommend going to the bathroom early rather than leaving it to the last minute as there aren't many bathrooms at all. Other than that, you're in for a wonderful night out in a gorgeous theatre.

The inner beauty of the theatre really catches you unaware when you go for the first time. I came to watch Jersey Boys then Chicago and I have had consistently amazing experiences with the staff, especially the warmth and professionalism of the box office and cloak room. Seating is also nicely arranged and you are guaranteed a good view regardless of ticket price.

Saw School of Rock...Great. Don't sit next to rear doors. Repeated draft from opening to let people in and out. And 4 cubicles in ladies for hundreds of people just not enough. Otherwise comfortable seats. Good sight lines and acoustics.

One of the best theaters that I've been to. The interior is really cool, with sculptures and nice ceilings and walls. The staff are very helpful and are happy to direct you to where you need to be. The shows are great with fantastic sound and lighting.

Excellent live theatre venue. Top class shows,we just saw Chicago which was brilliant. The theatre staff are lovely friendly and obliging. Good idea to subscribe to the theatre to receive early notice of upcoming shows. A VERY BIG ISSUE, with absolutely no blame on the theatre is the constant use of the disabled toilet by women instead of using the ladies as my wife does after assisting me to access the disabled toilet.

The theatre has upgraded old world beauty. Statues. Performances are top shelf. The staff are fantastic. They do have a policy of no backpacks umbrellas or prams in the theatre, but have a 'cloakroom ' where you can check them in

A truly grand Sydney theatre. History few others have. More purpose built than even the opera house. If a show is half decent on paper the tipping point to buying a ticket is often because it's on here.
