Strange and remarkable! In Jurve there is an apparently perfectly normal fence that you would pass by, were it not for the two signs with explanations. This fence is a relic from the time when many of Rømø's men made their living in whaling. In addition to money, these men sometimes brought whale bones with them. These bones were a wood substitute material and were used for carvings, garden fences and gates. This remarkable fence dates from 1772 and was made by Commander Peter Andersen List. Pay close attention if you want to see it, because you'll drive right past it!

Interesting place - but not much to see. Better visit the whale exibition im a museum.
