After all the rave reviews about this place, finally made it over to Tokyo. Reservation was made through the hotel and first red flag was the restaurant stated that in order to book a reservation, it was required to order the most expensive option on the menu? I've never heard of such thing and told the receptionist that there is another option on the menu that I was interested in that did not cost as much. Then finally, they agreed to the reservation. Upon arriving, we were seated promptly and the chef came out with the most unfriendly and unwelcoming vibe. Also note that it was just my gf and I in the restaurant.....that's how dead the place was. They clearly were struggling for business and I can see why. Now I know why they were demanding that we had to order the most expensive option because they had no customers. Pretty pathetic. Chef waited impatiently while we decided on what to order and didn't even say a word or ask if there were any questions. I honestly wanted to get up an walk out, but didn't want to ruin it for my gf. Waiters kept starring at us from a distance throughout the night and it was quite annoying. We ordered just the Akita beef option for two, some sparkling water and a bottle of wine which came out to $550. Was very excited to try the Kobe beef which I couldn't believe how chewy and terrible it was for such a price. I thought Kobe beef was basically melt in your mouth, but it was worse than an average Steak House in the US. There were a few other patrons who mentioned that this place was nothing special and they were pretty spot on. The red bean pancake dessert was nothing special either. Couldn't believe how bad the experience was from the reservation, to first impressions, unfriendly chef, and the unacceptable quality of food. First time in Japan to try Kobe beef and this was what I experienced. Not recommended.

To me, this has been my best meal in Japan thus far. Each course was fantastic and well explained by the incredible Chef in English and luckily Chinese as well. Akita beef is the best beef I have ever eaten to date. Not too fatty so you do not become sick of it unlike the other superstars like Kobe and stuff. Delicious flavour and the beef was so tender, we were able to cut it with the butter knives provided to us for the steak. The steak was cooked Low and slow on a the cooler section of the grill from the start of the meal so as to render out some of the fat and get the juices flowing without pushing out too much of its flavour. Once the centre is cooked, it is then seared in butter to create a beautiful crust on the outside while still preserving its beautiful medium rare centre. Eating it with salt brought out its beefiness, wasabi and soy helped cut through the fat and accentuate it’s flavour, and the grated daikon helped to refresh ones taste buds so you can keep going! The next interesting dish we had after the beef was the akitomachi rice and the Akita prefecture inaniwa udon, the udon of kings. The rice was deliciously sweet with wonderfully textured grains and it was eaten in stages. First, plain rice and the shaved truffles, followed by rice truffle and egg with some sukiyaki sauce added. After which, delicious Uni was added making it even more decadent! For the soba, it was nice with a great texture and chew and it made for a slurping good finish to the meal. Best meal ever with great conversations with Maestro Gong Ming!

An interesting experience for sure. Food was good here, they speak little English but try to accommodate. It's extremely pricy but if you're coming here you are probably are prepared. This is fine dining and the meal takes places over the course of a few hours. The meat was very clean tasting unlike cheaper meat there was no hard parts and each piece had a nice chew. The chef also talks to you the whole night.

That’s what I call an amazing dinner experience. Everything was done close to perfection, you may have a look at the photos. I loved the lobster, the beef was unprecedented and maybe unsurpassable, soft, no fat, super tasty. The service was impeccable and pleasant with frequent explanations of every meal by the Chef. The ambience was fine and distinct in the heart of Ginza at a beautiful basement old classic style apartment with strong memories from the past. We had the set menu including lobster, caviar beluga and beef AKITA include a bottle of champagne, a bottle of red Cabernet wine and two HIBIKI 21 years old whiskey 🥃 and we paid only 240,000 YEN or 60,000 YEN per person. I consider this price quite fair thinking of the superb meal quality, outstanding service, beautiful ambience and one of a kind Chef. Manos Tokyo, November 2018

First welcomed by Chef who wait for us at the restaurant's front. Locate in Ginza area, here is one of very nice teppanyaki restaurant with premium beef from Akita. Live teppanyaki cooking in the very antique furniture from its original shop from Akita. Storyful dining experience that use premiun ingrediants from Akita from beef, rice, soy sauce, water, and noodle! Skillful and friendly chef, impressive hospitality, such a great meal. Few guests of my group can not have beef yet just let the restaurant know in advance and they can prepare seafood course as well. Very impressed with rice and soy sauce apart from its outstanding mouthwatering BEEF.

Updated: we went back for dinner on our last night and again they exceeded our expectations. The food was phenomenal. We were gifted a special sake and were given the royal treatment, We were greeted by the staff on the street and taken to the counter. The atmosphere was cozy, classical music was playing in the background while cute lamps lit up the place. The one and only, Chef Kyo Mei prepared a scrumptious feast for us that exceed all our expectations. From the Akita beef, that came with its own certified pedigree, till the last bite, our palates were in for the treat of a lifetime. If you have the opportunity, be sure to visit this place while in Tokyo. You will forever remember it.

The beef is amazing! I also never knew how good soy sauce could truly taste...theirs is aged for 10 years and tastes unlike anything I could imagine a soy sauce tasting like. If you want a bottle the chef can give you the info so you can order some to take home.

Perfect for my palette. I loved every dish that was prepared by the chef! Super soft and tender beef sirloin was given ^^ it makes you screaming for “please take my money”! Service was prompt and excellent, waiters are attentive if ur drinks are finished and they clear your utensils after every dish! Food’s awesome! Chef will explain to u the best way to eat every dish and also show u the certificate of the cow 🤣 ⚠️ Drinks are expensive, costs 1100yen for mineral water. But it is to be expected of such Omakase dining place!

Extremely delicious meal served by a very friendly and knowledgeable chef. Beef was amazing quality and all the dishes leading up to and after it were presented well. Very much worth the price.

We were there for our last night dinner. The service is excellent. Food is good, however, it's really expensive considering the portion it provided. We ordered the least expensive one on the manual, however they recommended to add additional $ for better portion of the beef, then asked if wanted to add truffle for the rice on additional cost, or add seafoods as well for additional cost. That is, what's on the manual is basic & u need to add more if u want better foods. Environment is very ancient & decent, however, considering 70k yuan for two, there are better choices around the area, not worth it in our view. Only applausable is there tentative service.

Gomei Ginza is definitely a hidden gem in the world of fancy dinning. Every raves about Kobe beef, but Akita Beef is definitely rising to the top of wagyu beef. Menu is seasonal, so check on their website for their current menu.

Most exquisite culinary experience we ever had! Never tasted meat like this. The chef was great to talk to and a pure joy to watch. Very exclusive service and beautiful interior. Highlight on our Tokio tour!

The service, ambience, and general quality and vibe of Gomei is like top notch. If you have a business dinner thing or need to impress someone this is definitely a great choice. Just super super amazing attention to detail. Cannot fault the staff in any way, they were great. BUT BUT BUT I feel like for what I paid for (30k Yen) the food itself was just okay in terms of taste. Like it was good, but not 30k yen good imo. I was recommended this place and so maybe my expectations were too high. Everything tasted good but the value wasn't there I think; Akita Beef isn't as fragrant as Kobe I find. Am I happy to have tried it? Yes. Will I go back? No. Also their cutlery needs a bit of sprucing. Like it was beautiful, but the dinner knife was like super dull and difficult to use.

This is the perfect place for a date night dinner. We had the tastiest beef in Japan. The staff are so generous and welcoming. The food was out of this world! I highly recommend this restaurant
