Got a great haircut, saw some amazing artwork, and had a good beer. What a cool place. The owner was lovely and I would definitely recommend going here.

Broken Spoke has already turned into a staple of the Hilltop area. It's 'take-it-easy' and relaxed ambiance, paired with friendly and welcoming staff is amazing. Having a barber shop inside the bar is just awesome and a pure delight to experience in combination. Weekly events keep foot traffic up. You can tell the place doesn't have any stigmas for any group of people and are most welcoming - dog friendly as well. Outside food is welcome and there are amazing options right outside the door. Their stock of beers is constantly shifting with unique choices both nationally and internationally (imported). If you're in the Tacoma area and would like a spot to sit back and relax...this is it.

Not for me… I’ll start by mentioning that the barber wasn’t ready at my appointment time, not I big deal I was able to grab a beer while I waited. I went in looking for a regular haircut and ended up with an undercut—not my style at all and it’s going to take forever to grow long enough to fix it. From what I can tell that seems to be the only thing they have on the menu here. The haircut itself took way too long for what I got. How it takes an hour to buzz the sides of someone’s head is beyond me and the worst part is that it’s not even cut evenly on both sides. Beard trim is just lining it up. Overall this place seemed very try-hard, definitely a place for cool guys.

Great place for a beer or a haircut or both! The beer selection is extensive and the service excellent.

JJ gives the best cut of any barber I've had, and I've lived all over the US! Great guy, listens and learns your hair quickly. Usually booked up so schedule in advance.

How could you go wrong? Play a game of pool while you're waiting for your haircut and have a beer while doing both!

I thought that the Broken Spoke looked amazing but I was actually next door for a private party at the soon to be open dance club/bar Hilltop a Go-Go. This place is so great!!! Mike(the owner) is an amazing guy and he hosted a fabulous birthday party for a good friend. I was there and we Poured It On and made Art. It was great party and everyone loved the place. Keep an eye out for his Grand Opening. Coming Soon!!!!

Went to this place once in July and again last month. The cut itself wasn’t bad but the barber was far too rough with the way they cut. I tried twice and had the same result. I’ve never had this happen before. Went to a different shop farther south and had a much better experience. Will not be returning to Broken Spoke.

JJ was absolutely phenomenal. Great personality, super friendly, extremely forgiving to someone who had no idea how an actual barber shop worked (me, I’m the newbie) and holy s*** my hair never looked so good. He was so quick getting me done that I was truly shocked, in a good way of course. Need a cut? Go see JJ. Definitely my new spot.

Husband and son get the best hair cuts and beard trim from JJ. Plus you can enjoy a good beer or cider while waiting! We won't go anywhere else!

Just had my hair cut by Megan. Absolutely fantastic! I told her what I was trying to go for and she knew exactly what to do. Can't recommend this place enough. I'm sure the other two barbers are excellent as well. The bar/barber setting is perfect too! Grab a beer and have a snack at the bar while you wait for your turn in the chair. This is now my go to place for a dapper looking cut!

I wish I could give them a better review, but I've tried to get a haircut for 3 weeks, but they keep bumping me or forgetting to put me on their schedule, so I guess I will never know. Now I'm trying to find somewhere else that I can rely on..

Sera does an amazing job and pays attention to the little details oh and they have beer!
