This museum is short but sweet. You have the serious abstract art glass in the gallery. Then you have the awesome cute and imaginative glass inspired by kids (my personal favorite) then you get to see how it's made! And if you need to get out, there's plenty of things to experience outside like trails and other sculptures. There just so much to do!

It's small but fun. Watching glass crafters at work was the highlight of this experience. There are not many pieces in the museum. The gift shop had more pieces than the exhibit.

This was our first time going here. I liked all the art that I saw but for the price of it all, honestly is not worth it. The gallery is very small. Although it was cool seeing how people make the glass. I liked only a couple pieces of art there. I say if you want to visit this place i would wait and look for days of when they have deals on admission so you don't feel weird having to pay that much for a gallery that you literally get through in 10-15 minutes.

This was our 1st visit to this museum. It was absolutely stunning to see the work!! There was some serious detail on a lot of the pieces.. I had no idea there were so many clever artists with glass. Lol the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The gift shop was great!! And the bridge outside is stunning and remarkable!! There are no other words for that for the detailed beautiful works at this museum. We will definitely be returning.

Price is around $18 per person. They have a showroom/kernel where you can physically see glass being blown and made into an object. There are so many beautiful creations to see that others have made. Honestly a beautiful museum. Kids are able to make/design glass and it is displayed. Love the imagination of what others can create. Definitely recommend.

This is a very nice museum filled with pretty and creative glass art. It has a workshop where you can watch glass blowers at work demonstrating how to create such art. I also loved the gallery dedicated to elementary school kids' designs - very humorous and creative stuff! Also liked the store where you can buy a few memoribila on the way out. I would say one would spend 2 hours here. It's worth a visit.

We went on the free open-later-evening that happens every 3rd Thursday of the month and had a great time. The highlight was the Hot Shop where we got to watch the team make glasses for a fundraiser event and get to ask questions and just watch the process. But the galleries were nice as well and certainly a nice evening activity to do for us.

Amazing place with beautiful pieces of art. I especially loved seeing the little kids sculptures where they drew their creations and glass makers created it for them. Was really neat to see :) also had an awesome demonstration and a very nice host that answered all our questions! The prices in the gift shop made me cry tho.

Was ok. Would be nicer if had more exhibits. For price seems they should offer more. We liked the working sessions with live glass making. Check out video.

Great place to spend a few hours. Though the museum exhibits aren't huge, there is plenty to see and read without feeling like you need to be there all day. Some really interesting glass art! Plus, the live glass blowing demonstrations are mesmerizing. They have live video and narration so you know what's going on and can see different angles. Parking right below the museum is super reasonable, I think it was $4. Definitely recommend when in Tacoma!

The only reason why I give 4 stars is because it usually great, but about a week ago I went and lots of the amazing glass in the gallery was not that amazing and it was not worth the money or the trip, but I have been there a couple other times and it was really amazing those other times though!

I was super excited to go to the Museum of Glass, and some of it was enlightening but I felt it was over priced and actually filthy. 75% of the glass displays were super dirty back in section 5 with a heavy coat of dust and dirt on the top of display cases. After noticing that I started to see a huge lack of general maintenance everywhere I looked in combination with empty cases and a repetition of themes gave me a very underwhelmed feeling. The Washington State History museum was a much better layout with more clearly set up themes and actually educational. I felt like I learned nothing at the Museum of Glass and it was an over priced and underwhelming waste of our time. Clean the glass display cases at your “Glass Museum!” I did enjoy a few pieces but other then these it was just repetitive.

I'm an Artist from San Diego, CA and through a series of fortunate events, ended up at The Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA. Employees were very knowledgeable, experienced and were able to answer all of my questions. The work opened my mind to the possibilities of what can be made out of Glass. The 'workshop' area was AMAZING. A well earned 5 stars 🌟

The Museum of Glass is spectacular. It's starts from the Anthem and the museum as you walk over the freeway seeing the amazing glass art above you and the the freeway and the city view 360 degrees Tacoma 💪then you come to the glass vases that are beautifully blown away by these professional Artists. Then you enter the fountains, stairs, the boats, Yahtz, the calm water, park, restraunts it's stimulating. Go and see them blow away.

The bridge to the museum is decorated with colorful glass artwork. The museum host glassblowing events, one of which we got the chance to watch. It was cool to see how glass is made. That said, their glass exhibitions are very interesting too, and worth taking a look around. There awaits a presentation of so many different glass artwork variations and styles. The experience is very inspiring and educational.

Hot tip: The outside (and bridge) at night is really cool (and free) don't miss that part! Inside: History was cool to learn and when we went there were amazing (and heavy) pieces on being Black in the usa, and a really cool school of fish sculpture which you have to experience in real life to truly appreciate. Additional info: Gift shop was pricey but if you're a member you get 10% off. Also my partner proposed to me here, it was a nice place to be proposed to. 😉💍

Came here on the museum promo Thursday (don’t remember what it’s called exactly?) so it was free! This museum was super cool, and I’m just so glad I get to visit it. There were many beautiful glass exhibits and interactive areas. Stories behind the art work was cool too. Suitable for all ages. The glass making workshop was also a really cool place to stop by to watch people making glass products!! It was really warm in there, so I appreciate the drinking water provided at the entrance/exit. The souvenir shop had good selection of items but sadly they didn’t have any snow globes!

The Museum of Glass in Tacoma is a captivating experience, seamlessly blending artistry and innovation. The iconic glass bridge offers a stunning view of the city, while the hot shop demonstrations showcase the mesmerizing craft of glassblowing. The diverse exhibits provide a dynamic journey through the evolution of glass art, making it a must-visit for both art enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.

I highly reccom3nd coming to watch them blow glass in winter, front row seats are nice and toasty! Discounted admission because one of their galleries was closed. It was still really lovely and worth the visit. I will have to come back to see it when its fully open. The kids art is hilarious (and disturbing).

What can you say about this place, accept WoW what a great Museum, there's actually a lot more to do there than there was a couple years ago, I'm glad they are able to keep going, although it's closed due to Covid-19 but I will return as soon as they are safe enough to have people there. Last time I went my daughter was about 14 years old and it made an impact on her, she's now getting her Masters in Architectural Buildings, all from a visit there years ago. Thanks for having such a wonderful place to spend the day. Merry Christmas Everyone.

Beautiful venue! So much to enjoy and admire here. Incredible views of Tacoma, gorgeous glass and art...we had a great evening. Our group reserved this location for a private event. We had a catered dinner, a Program in the auditorium and were able to view the museum. We enjoyed the event very much.

Decently fun experience for the kids, good place on educating them how glass is made. You can see it in real time. Other than that the exhibits were pretty interesting. Somehow feels like something is missing though, maybe my expectations were too high before visiting.

A must for anyone who appreciates glass work. The museum is deceptively large, and the hot shop was brilliant. They explain the process as they go. The M.C. was entertaining and knowledgeable. I recommend a membership if you plan on visiting more than once a year, it will save you money in the long run!

I'm a big fan of anything beautiful and glass. I enjoyed the uncrowded walk through the exhibits and left with an education of pieces I have never seen. What a beautiful collection of talent and history. My highlight was on a cold snowy day wandering into the glass blowing room. The warmth was amazing and being able to watch the artist in action was priceless. If you love art or glass this is a must see.

I was both impressed and unimpressed. Overall it's a really nice location, especially on a sunny day. There were some exhibits that made my think wow, that's beautiful, and some that perplexed me. But art is subjective, so overall it was a nice visit. The "Strange Fruit" exhibit was hauntingly poignant. I thought about it several times after I left the museum.

  • 5/5 Stephen B. 3 years ago on Google
I miss all the night markets here hopefully we will have some again later in the year or early next year. I always enjoyed the cheap days for all the museum. Great place to walk around and the museum is amazing if people are working in the spire on their own glass art. Don't let the negative views steer you away great place to take the family while you're enjoying the Tacoma Downtown area.

PLEASE allow the tip jar to be place don the counter. A good number of customers in this time would be glad to add to the tip jar for the workers. I had to ask for it, and was told tip jar was not allowed on the counter. That does not help the employees, and i'm not sure how does it add to the image of Ivars. Out of sight, out of mind, these hard working employees are losing out to an unnecessary policy.

Im like not even a quarter mile away and its like my food as been on the road for half an hour. I wish I hadn't ordered this off door dash. What a shame I feel like I wasted 17$ :/

The variety of glass art made the trip more interesting than I had expected. I also enjoyed the gift shop - it has a range of items made of glass as well. They also have some hands on classes for kids that looked like the kiddos could make some beautiful pieces in a very simple manner. We will return - and have joined as members.

A very good collection of glass work done by a single artist so beautifully and also appreciated is the fact that the authorities not only valued but even displayed it so nicely with the lights and backgrounds. Ambience, footfalls and Glass Artwork all are very good and recommended to visit if you are at the city and are an art lover, creator or curretor or just an enthu. Recommend it fully

Was an amazing experience they have a hallway where children send in pictures and the museum brings them to life. Gallery was amazingly diverse. Next stop was the theater where you can learn the history of glassblowing amongst many other things then you can travel to the hot house where you can watch masterpieces come to life.

Beautiful place with a wide variety of styles. You can also get a 360-degree view of their team making glass creations in the hot shop (it is warm!). I would definitely recommend!

Aside from being difficult to find, and having to deal with a very cold, snooty ticket sales person, we loved our time at the museum. The art was fantasticly creative and the glass blowing demo was informative and interesting. We especially loved the crew there and in the gift shop, such friendly folks. I can't wait to bring pals along, they'll luck out and not have to go on a scavenger hunt to find it. Pro tip, the museum faces the water. Parking is near the Museum of Art or on the street in front of the cool cone shaped top of the building. You can also walk across the bridge that goes over the highway, near the City Hall. Along that route, glass art is displayed (see photos). You'll take a ramp or stairs down and when you see the reflection pond, go right. There's not any directional signage. The restaurant attached to the museum has a much more limited menu than online, but it is delicious. Dogs are allowed on their patio.

Glass arts! Live glass art productions are demonstrated in the education studio, feel warm in the room. Exhibitions show works from different artists. The hallway along restroom displays glass made from children’s drawings and many more. Must see if you are visiting Seattle.

I came here towards the end of the day so I was hesitant to pay the price but it was definitely worth it!! They have an area where you can watch artists blow glass. It is amazing! And going through the rooms is really cool cause it's very hard to imagine how everything was made. Everything they have is absolutely stunning!

Thank you for being a part of the Blue Star Museum Program! We had a great time viewing the glass art. I recommend viewing any work going on in the Hot Shop before looking at the artwork. We viewed an exhibit for a short time before the demonstration, and it changes the way you look at the work after seeing the skill that goes into making glass art. The also have little sections for kids to play and interact as well.

Amazing!!!! The art pieces were incredible, each artist unique, and I loved the live demonstrations, learned a lot. And the restaurant in the premises was delicious

I spent a lot of time at the WA state history museum and disnt realized Museum of glass closed on the same time so I only got to see the outside. If your planning to visit make sure to get there early because parking is not free unless it's Sunday and you have to park on the street. I will have to revisit this review when I get to go inside.

If you can buy the Hot Shop tickets do it! You will not regret it. Everyone is so friendly, kind and walks you through every step. Once in a lifetime experience to make glass.

We had an after business hours company holiday party here, so it was already dark outside when we arrived. Part of the deal was allowing us to view limited areas of the museum and to watch a glass blowing demonstration. There are quit a few pretty glass art pieces here. The glass art in the waterfall type pools were very pretty and I can only imagine how pretty it must be in the daylight. There is a covered parking garage for a 5.00 fee which is easiest just to use the parking phone app that they have posted on the walls to pay for parking.

A great place to learn more about glass. The ticket prices are 20$ but we were charged 15$ on our visit as one of the galleries was closed for renovations. We attended the glass making session and it was very informative and amusing. There is a gift shop inside the museum as well. There is parking underneath and you can park your car for 5$ for 3 hours, if I remember it correctly. Overall, it's definitely a place to go if you would like to know more about glass and see the amazing glass crafts. There are interactive spaces for kids as well.
