Old Town owes its name to the fact that it was the location of the original settlement called "Tacoma". In 1865, Job Carr built a cabin near the shore in anticipation of future land speculation due to the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. (The original cabin location is marked by a plaque at the base of Carr Street. Job Carr Cabin Museumis a replica of the original, and is situated in Old Town Park. Old Town was sustained in its early days by fishing and lumber mills.

They did a walking tour of Old Tacoma, led by Christopher, the director. It was pleasant, and ended up at St. Peter's Church, the oldest building in Tacoma, celebrating its 150th birthday, with food, song, info, and a historical reenactment!

This was so fun! We went during Summer Story Time and got to meet giant centipedes from the Point Defiance Zoo. My daughter loved that and learning more about life in the 1800's. Great fun!

Where the old meets the new. This replica cabin in Old Town Tacoma is a great place to check out before hitting Ruston. It gives an appreciation for all the hard work and courage that went in to forming this beautiful city. The park is great for kids and the concerts in the park are always a good time-best of all, it's all free.

This museum is kid friendly and well taken care of. We love going to their events and picking up monthly crafts during COVID.

As the guide was explaining the log cabin, my 6- year-old granddaughter wispered to me, "Is this the little house of Mr. Lincoln?"

Small but very informational, my grandson just had an assignment about Job Carr, so we checked out the Cabin / Museum. We had a nice time at the park there too.

What a great historic cabin you can tour for a historic lesson in the early settlement of Tacoma nestled with a metro park.
