Our favorite local coffee shop. We love the Nitro Draft Latte with oat milk, so delicious. Such a great space with fast and friendly service.

I was a frequent customer of Bluebeard Coffee. I’ve been going here since 2012. I’ve spoken well of it to many fellow Tacoma peeps, some of whom didn’t even know it existed. I was super disappointed the other day (three weeks ago now), when I went by and saw all of the seating had been taken away. It was a cold day and I wanted to stop in. No place to sit. When I moved here in 2020, this place was an absolute hub for parents, students, whomever. Plenty of places to sit. I was excited to have a coffee shop in my neighborhood. Since then they have had seating very inconsistently. I did what any customer is welcome to do and left a review on both Yelp and then as the problem persisted, here on Google. Two years in to the pandemic it seemed really extreme to me to remove the chairs. If this wasn’t the reasoning behind moving the tables out, let your customers know. Reviews are partly to give the businesses some feedback, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who was disappointed at the lack of chairs. It’s a coffee shop. After simply saying “No seating is ridiculous, you’re probably losing a lot of business for no reason”, the reply from the business owner was really immature & unprofessional. “Yea, __________ .We’re hiring for that now. One star review. Adios”, that’s his response. Another response to a one star review ........ “It is our pleasure not seeing you back, _______We can recommend other places we don’t enjoy that you will love! Thanks! I see that the owner Kevin likes to leave replies that sound like a bully on a playground, especially towards females. I will not support a business that acts in that way. The coffee isn’t good enough to have piss poor customer service. Even if it was top notch, there’s really no excuse to act in such a way towards customers. Needless to say, this left a bad taste in my mouth. Adios, indeed. Good coffee is everywhere, good customer service is not. Work on your customer service & experience. I recommend Red Elm or Lenders instead. Both places are friendly & the coffee is always good.

Bluebeard has some of the best coffee in Tacoma. They roast everything on site. The building has an awesome, vintage industrial, feel. The baristas are very friendly and as far as I know, very skilled. Their latte art certainly isn't lacking. I had a great drip style cup today and it was so smooth with a very nutty flavor. It's a great place to study or just meet with friends. Check this place out when you're in Tacoma.

Great espresso. Awesome cappuccino. Awesome Mexi Latte. Might be a bit hot for some. Cool location. Could use some new tables.

One of the best places in the area for working and being around the vicinity. Had an appointment in the area and sadly couldn't find any spot to sit and work, literally not one! Blue Beard Coffee is a cute spot for your coffee, work and grab quick small bite with cuppa.

Nice atmosphere - hoping to revisit when the indoor area is open again. Otherwise, it’s grab and go. My latte was good and prices are comparable for the area. It’s tough to find parking close by, so I’m not sure there’s enough to lure me back for just a to-go drink.

Bluebeard is my favorite local coffeehouse. The coffee is exceptional and the beans are roasted in house. Friendly welcome always and service is terrific, coffee in hand in minutes. They make all the standard coffee drinks as well as their unique fare, nitro and teas. They have limited bakery items and pastries. I especially enjoy the surroundings which are warm and inviting. It is a great place to meet up with a friend, read or get a little work done while enjoying your favorite cup!

First of all, the coffee symbol was so cute and I liked it. Tables and chairs were removed because only take-out was still available. I ordered drip coffee and latte, but I put drip coffee in a cup right after I ordered it. If you want to receive it quickly, I recommend ordering drip coffee. The coffee was so delicious because it was soft and sour. The bread was delicious, so my son ate it all before I took a picture. Next time, I'll have to buy the beans they sell here.

Came in pretty late (~4pm) one day and had a great experience. The shop was take-out only at the time I visited, the space looks a little empty. The warm baristas made it more welcoming than it looks. They were very friendly and didn't seem to be worn-down at the end of the day, gave me some good recommendations since I was just visiting. I had a latte and liked it. Nicely made.

Cool little place. Nice vibe. Food (breakfast bread products) was delicious, but coffee was not strong enough in flavor department. 3 shots in an iced nonfat drink should be more detectable, in my opinion. Great local business.

Coffee was excellent, and the service was fast. The building the shop is in is also very 7 be back!

Nice local coffee shop that roasts in store. Fast service and well made drinks. Could use more drink options on their menu. Support local business

Meh, coffee is ok at best, speaking as a former barista at a high-end cafe. That didn't bother me. The vibe is relaxing you can work and avoid social interactions with the rest of the remote workers that use it as a working space. The baristas on the other hand were snobby and rude. Give people a moment to order, don't make them feel like dirt because they don't understand your menu. Not everyone is from a big coffee culture. I came in with my partner who is from not a place that has coffee like us. A worker literally turned around and stared at him when he asked me how I knew what to order. The person taking the order also looked at us like we weren't their "preferred" clientele. It's so fascinating to me how people in coffee can be so rude to their customers instead of using it as an opportunity to educate about something you are passionate about. And honestly this isn't just a Bluebeard issue. I have come in several times over the last 2 years of living in Tacoma and waited to leave this review until now. The treatment of my partner was the tipping point. Just don't act like your customers are dumb, that's all. Why would we want to spend our money here if that is how we were treated?

This is my favorite coffee shop. Their coffee beans are excellently roasted in house and their espresso drinks are delicious as well. The atmosphere is great to hang out with friends, read a book, or get some work done. The employees are incredibly nice and awesome baristas.

Good-sized sit down coffee shop with free wifi, plenty of wall plugs for customers to use (just do them the courtesy of buying a beverage now and again), and decent music playing. The staff's been nice without being overly chatty and the drinks I've had so far have been good, but their pastries (a little pricey) sell out much sooner in day than I usually make it in so I can't judge them. The atmosphere's what you expect from a coffee shop; no one tries to bother anyone (and people don't mind if you ask to use a wall plug next to their seat), but there's the expected amount (and volumn) of conversational noise around you on any given day. It's a nice, laid-back place to relax in between errands or to take time to do those tedious little paperwork or computer tasks you just can't seem to get done in the comfort and/or distraction of your home. EDIT: Be aware there's no parking lot, so you have to find street parking, which can be harder at some times of the day than others.

I love blue beard. Great local coffee, not much for food but it's a great place to meet up with a friend or get started on a project. Their roast is fantastic for drip, espresso, or coldbrew - literally everything is good. My favorite is their cold brew oat milk latte, which they have on draft and you can bring home as a crowler.

Very well balanced cortado and terrific latte art. Flavor was consistent even when it got cold. Really cool place

This coffee shop is amazing. I have been here a couple of times since I live near the area, and my time here was amazing. I love to read, have my coffee I order every time, as I enjoy the nice space they have here. The workers are very nice and the coffee is amazing. I enjoy this place very much with the energy it gives. Everyone is very nice and happy in the Mornings. Also the smell of fresh coffee in the morning I always love. I recommend this place very much

I really loved the coffee, the parking is the only thing that’s kinda complicated to find. The atmosphere is nice, just a little crowded for my preference. I would’ve loved to had accompany my coffee with a lunch menu.

Located at the very top of the 6th Avenue neighborhood, this is a terrific spot for coffee and breakfast goodies. Stayed at an AirB&B next door and visited four times during our stay in Tacoma. Great espresso and cold drinks. Recommend nitro and granola for a power breakfast. Plenty of street parking. Good combination or tables and couches.

Got a drip coffee for $3. Tasted very bitter as if they burnt the beans or something but that could be easily solved with more cream and sugar. Staff was really friendly and courteous. There are plenty of spots to sit, relax, chill, and work at. There’s only street parking afaik. There were plenty of customers already inside when I went around 9 am. Neighborhood is very quaint.

Haven’t been in a long time, but the space is as lovely as ever. Staff is amazing and there was plenty of seating available. Great place to come to enjoy a coffee. Keep at it.
