I have been training at T-Town MMA Checkmat since 2011. Great instructors who really know what they are teaching. Great classes for people of all fitness levels and goals. This school has wonderful connections within the community. Everyone here will make you feel like family while teaching you amazing martial arts skills that can be used at the highest level of competition. They also have an excellent kids program. Just drop by and try it out!!!

I'm new to BJJ and have only been with T-Town for ~6 months. I wasn't sure I'd stick with it after my trial class, but what made me officially sign up were the people. When I say everyone has been welcoming, I mean every single person. The patience and sincerity in this gym is beyond amazing. The business itself is very accommodating; willing to work with you on any questions you might have. I also love that there are several types of classes you can attend at your leisure. I do wish there were adult classes in the earlier evening, but it hasn't been a deal breaker at all. Overall, still 5 stars - highly recommend!

I have been attending T-town for almost 2 years now. I have trained at many BJJ gyms before this, and this by far is my favorite gym and one I call home. The fellow practitioners at t-town are extremely friendly and accommodating. No one is a stranger there! This is a gym that is friendly enough for beginners and serious enough for competitors. And because there is a plethora of coaches of coaches and black belts the curriculum is always fresh and informative.

My husband and I love training BJJ at this gym. The coaches are wonderful and truly care about their students, and the environment is great for anyone no matter their experience or training goals. TTown also has a great women's program that creates a fantastic environment for women to either sharpen their skills or try BJJ for the first time!

I've been training here for 9 months, and this place has become my home. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and also extremely welcoming. From day one I was sure this was the place for me to train, and I'm positive anyone who walks through that door will feel the same way. The coaches and students display a level of patience, kindness and respect that makes you feel apart of the team instantly. Everyone has a willingness to learn and help others learn and grow with them. I can say so many things about T-town lol, but you have to come and experience it for yourself. This gym is a great place to train for all ages and skill levels 👌

The atmosphere in this gym is AMAZING! The people are very welcoming and respectful! I see why this place has been alive and thriving for 12+ years they have great trainers that will push you to your best while allowing you to go at your own pace!

Best gym ever, everyone is beyond welcoming and motivated. Can’t recommend enough. All the instructors are more than happy to take extra time with you. If I could put 10 stars I would.

How many gyms do you have where you can have a different black belt teach almost every day. It's a great gym with great coaches.

Amazing people, challenging and fun classes, and inexpensive compared to some other gyms. There's really no reason to not go here.

I visited Checkmat for their open mat/women's class during my recent travels to the area. Everyone was welcoming and pleasant! I've been training for a bit over a year in NJ and my cousin (who has never trained) tried out the class- the instructor was great at offering various levels of instruction for all to learn something new. I will definitely be back when I'm out that way again. Thanks!

i went here a few months ago. the instructor was nothing but amazing the people were super nice. very positive experience. the sad part is with my social anxiety i have a very difficult time getting out but the 1 class i did was honestly very very good. seriously people need to check this place out

Had a great time dropping in while visiting from out of town. The instructor Justin has a great laid back attitude, smiling and laughing often. Also some excellent rolls with different belts and sizes, and everyone seemed eager to learn. Will definitely return if I’m ever in the area again.
