Food 5/5: Carne esada tasted great. The chips and red salsa were good, but the verde sauce for the chips tasted like cucumber. Service 2/5: It took a while to be seated. Once seated, it took a couple of minutes for someone to bring us chips. They delivered the chips and left without taking drink orders. We ordered drinks and food, which came out in a timely manner. The waiter didn't come back to check on us for refills or issues until it was time for the check. Atmosphere 4/5: The restaurant was clean but nothing special about it.

It was a pretty interior. Sightlines are poor to entry area, so it took a long time to get noticed for being seated. Our busser was a bit unfriendly seeming, but our waitress was congenial. The menu is quite small, which is usually a good sign for food quality and standards, but when we received our order ( which came alarmingly fast), the meats were very low quality, being very chewy, and the (diced) chicken breast in my taco tasted a bit like liver . The chips and salsa were pleasant, and a refill was offered. My family member ordered a Pina colada, and we are convinced it was virgin. Taste was fine for a mixer, although quite small. The menu and a sign claimed house made flan, so we were a bit let down by a petite serving of damp, commercial tasting pudding. Prices were average as was the experience. It was fine. Felt no love of food or passion from the kitchen.

Food was excellant and affordable. Five people all had full meals plus i had a desert and cervesa. The whole thing was just over $100. Most places two maybe 3 can eat forcthat much. Sevice was also very good. I will be eating here again. The deepfried icecream was smashing. Try it. You wont be disappointed. Thankyou El-Toro for keeping it good and affordable.

We loved this place, it was clean and parking was available. Nachos with salsas were delicious. We ordered quesadilla, burrito and tacos and they were all great. Happy with service.

Food was excellent, I had the burrito Verde, chips, salsa and queso. All very tasty with well made beans and rice as sides. The strawberry mojito was the star as far as drinks go. Service wasn't anything special but wasn't bad at all. Dim lighting and music wasn't to quiet or too loud.

Good food, great drinks. I ordered a mango and chamoy margarita, and it was very tasty. Our waiter was funny and friendly. They even closed and let us stay a little longer while they closed up because we were just gabbing away and didn't realize. It was a good quiet place for a girls night/dinner

This place was clean and there was ample parking. The chips and salsa were some of the best I've had recently. I ordered a burrito bowl and I found it to be rather bland but perhaps a different entree would yield tastier results.

We’ve loved this place for years, no, decades. But….. why would the two waitresses in the bar speak Spanish across the room, back and forth the entire time we were there after demonstrating they speak English as well as anyone else. It was rude as hell and everyone else I’ve asked on social media has completely agreed.

My first time ever at El Toro was a great one! The atmosphere immediately struck as very inviting. Once seated, we received very friendly service. And the food--I got the fish tacos--was fantastic, especially the side of beans and rice. And can't overlook the chips and salsa. Incredibly fresh and very tasty.

My daughter n I were out shopping and decided to have some dinner out as there was no power at our home on Vashon Island. The nachos were great as usual and the service was great. Our waitress was the greatest. Will be back!!!!

It is still my favorite Mexican restaurant in Tacoma. Friendly, professional staff. Excellent food served quickly and hot. Even though they had planned to close early, a fact I was not aware of before I arrived, they still seated me and said not to be concerned about the time. It was excellent as usual.

First, props to a business that offers zero alcohol drinks as this is a small but growing segment. The chips and dip were superb and kept flowing as we waited for our food. The entree was delicious. The rice and beans were as expected for any mexican restaurant. The portions were generous. The wait staff were regularly available and polite. The prices were mid to higher, which has become standard for equivalent places, even for just street tacos.

When we got here for dinner, it was a ghost town. We ask for a sling for the carseat, and ended up asking somebody else after waiting 4-5 minutes for it. We get our chips and salsa, and ask for beans. Which we got, with our meal...when our chips were gone. *still paid for them... even though they were not eaten, because they were so late. We ordered a bean burrito with sour cream. When we got it, there was no sour cream. So I wait, get the sour cream, and realize my burrito is beef. Not bean. *then was over charged for the sourcream. The menu said add sour cream for $2.50. We were charged $3. This whole time, nobody comes to check in. They were at the table about 4 times for things that they forgot or messed up. But nobody came to fill drinks... or bring the bill. So we just sat, and waited for the bill, for quite awhile. The bean burrito was good. My daughters kids meal was good. But my husband's Carne asada was like beef Jerky. Like it was a bad cut of meat. *it was cooked great. Just a bad steak.

If you are looking for good service and excellent quality food this is not the place. This restaurant missed on everything except the price, it wasn’t cheap. The margarita were mediocre, the chips were meh and the salsa tasted like it was out of a jar and don’t get me started on the main course!!!

It's been several years since I last ate here, and I was not disappointed. Quick, friendly service, especially appreciated during lunch hour. I had a delicious taco salad. Love their complementary chips (very crispy and perfectly seasoned) and two kinds of salsa - red and verde! I also loved the updated, contemporary decor and comfortable seating. Will definitely go back!

We were a large party and we’re seated pretty quickly, thank you. Chips and salsa plus water were already at the table, nice touch and included both Red and green salsas. Then it started to go down hill from there. With four kids and never received a kids menu or any mention of one and even after I inquired about one, I never received one just a verbal menu, ok oh well. Kids portions were plentiful. Entrees were also good portion size. I ordered the Don Burrito- a steak burrito, what I received was not steak it was an over cooked cut up bistec (beef)- buyer beware (hopefully they can fix this or updated their menu) Only one person received refills on drinks, I could have asked but it’s nice when they offer. Overall a good experience, servers/staff were very friendly. Restaurant and restrooms were clean and stocked.

Ordered veggie fajitas. Carrots were mushy and I was able to squeeze water out of them. Same for the cauliflower, and broccoli. They were obviously frozen vegatables I could get at the store for 3 dollars in a bag. The only veggies not frozen were the peppers and onions. There was little to no seasoning so it was flavorless, wet and sad. Would never recommend. Table mates had better food, and the service people were nice. I hope their other options are better, but I'm not going back if they mess up such a simple thing to that degree.

Wow. Slow service. Food was tasteless. I have been here many time but believe this will be the last time. There were 6 of us and the food came but we had no silverware. We asked for it and we’re brought 2 forks, 2 knife’s and 2 napkins. The food did not taste bad but it had no taste at all and the 4 adults at the table all said the same thing. Thank god the booze was good.

Love this restaurant. We go often on Fridays for the Queso and chips and happy hour. Usually we end up ordering dinner and making a night of it. Lots of parking available. I've never had to wait for a table.

Rate 20 out of 10. Excellent customer service. The gentleman that served us was awesome. He appeared before we could gesture for anything. Excellent food. I can't remember having this much respect and joy of being served. I'll be revisiting this location a few more times before the year ends.

I went in and ordered to take out. It use to be you could get whatever meat on entrees for dinner. I ordered supremo burrito and 3 enchiladas and a side of guacamole. The guacamole was $4.99 and was 2 oz. I asked for one of the enchiladas cheese. That was filled with rice no cheese. I also was charged 3 additional dollars for the pork. Each item was also charged .25 cents for take out. For 45 dollars I will never go back again.

Great Mexican food, prices are fair. Service was good, food preparation was a little slow. The restraunt was clean and hostess was friendly. Good menu lots of choices but not overwhelming. Great deserts as well, overall great experience!!!

Service was fantastic, polite and knowledgeable on all the dishes. The vibe is cool and looks better inside then it does on the outside for sure. The food was quick and good sizes for the relative cheaper prices compared to many other in PNW. The flavors were little softer than I like but it felt like home cooked meal and not restaurant. I'd say good stop for some good quality food, no perfect but good spot for sure.

I ordered the Chili Colorado for pickup for my work dinner. The utensils weren't included although requested. The food... I've enjoyed Chili Colorado at other restaurants but this wasn't enjoyable at all. The ingredients were bland and the choice of tortilla they use doesn't hold up with the sauce. It was like eating hospital food.

Don't eat here. I can't believe this place is in the north end! I don't know if all there locations are the same, but this place is disgusting. There kitchen is dirty floor caked with grease and black mold everywhere. The man who has been there dishwasher for the past 8 years doesn't wash the dishes by the health department standards. There employees also don't believe in wearing gloves. !!!Don't ever eat at places with dirty kitchens with mold!!! P.S was informed with this info from a former employee.
