I’m
a
little
surprised
at
3
of
the
first
4
leading
reviews
for
Harry—one
3
years
ago,
then
2
years
ago,
and
1
year
ago—all
pretty
darn
severe
and
all
seemingly
from
“westernized”
Asians
like
myself.
I
wasn’t
even
hungry
and
on
my
way
to
a
bakery
to
be
open
at
9
am.
So
I
took
a
winding
route
through
“Snail
Alley”—really
u
gotta
check
out
these
little
young
mom
and
pop’s
places
lining
Tainan’s
alleys.
And
I
stopped
at
Harry
cause—I
kid
you
not—I
could
feel
the
warmth
and
joy
and
the
contentment
of
customers
within.
I
ordered
a
hamburger
and
egg
toastie
and
for
50
NT
..
what
were
these
other
reviewers
expecting?
Hallelujah
in
a
sandwich?
It
was
damn
decent!
No
question
of
cleanliness:
mom
takes
money
with
ungloved
hand
and
picks
up
food
with
gloved
hand—standard
practice.
It’s
a
family-run
joint
..
where
would
they
find
the
money
to
pay
someone?
so
that
mom
can
lol
sit
back
and
just
kaching?
Bad
attitude?
My
goodness!!
Nothing
could
be
further
from
truth.
Pop
was
chatting
up
a
regular
who
joshed
about
having
to
wait
a
bit
today
and
pop
wisecracked
back
“Well,
come
at
7:30
tomorrow”
with
a
smile.
Mom
was
exceptionally
courteous.
They
both
give
me
the
impression
of
2
professionals
who
gave
up
the
grind
to
work
for
themselves
and
dictate
their
own
hours.
I
love
the
vibe
of
Harry:
I
dig
mom
and
pop.
The
food
is
darn
good
for
50
NT.
Pick
up
an
iced
milk
tea
to
go
with
ur
toastie
and
check
out
the
cleaver
grinder
in
a
hut
across
the
alley.
The
endeavour
is
to
find
the
small
and
unheralded
and
defend
them
against
the
blight
of
Michelin-minded
bargain
hunters.
Harry
is
good
and
true.
Whether
ur
a
Harry
Potter
or
Harry
Brown
(Michael
Caine
is
exceptional)
fan,
come
get
ur
brekkie
on
at
Harry.
