Lutianli,
where
Jiangjia's
ancient
house
is
located,
is
divided
into
five
settlements:
Dalin,
Dongxiyan,
Lutaoyang,
Youche
and
Xiayan.
Among
them,
Jiangjia's
ancient
house
is
the
most
representative
of
Lutianli.
This
is
a
traditional
Minnan-style
building
covering
an
area
of
3
hectares.
The
ancestors
of
the
Jiang
family
built
this
settlement
for
300
years.
There
are
136
buildings
in
total
and
more
than
30
households
still
live
in
them.
Most
of
them
are
made
of
bricks
and
red
tiles.
,
you
can
also
see
buildings
such
as
Tuxing
House,
Zhulongzi
House,
Xishizi
House,
etc.
It
can
be
said
that
it
is
the
most
complete
and
largest
single-surname
family
settlement
in
Taiwan.
There
are
three
main
Jiang
surname
systems
in
Nanxi
area,
including:
Lutaoyang
Jiangjia
in
Lutianli,
Nanxi
District,
Jiangjia
in
Youchekou,
and
Zhuwei
Jiangjia
in
Zhuweili,
Yujing
District.
Retired
principal
Zhong
Teng
recorded
during
his
visit
to
the
settlement
that
the
Lutaoyang
Jiang
family
and
the
Youchekou
Jiang
family
were
originally
from
Jingbian
Erduxiafenshe
(today's
Xiage
Town),
Zhao'an
County,
Zhangzhou
Prefecture,
Fujian
Province.
The
Jiangjia
ancient
houses
are
relatively
unique
in
terms
of
architectural
form:
the
three
Jiangjia
systems
near
Yujing
and
Nanxi
are
all
typical
southern
village-style
buildings.
When
they
were
built,
thorny
bamboo
was
first
planted
on
the
outside,
and
then
gradually
evolved
into
Bamboo
fence,
and
relying
on
the
multi-layer
bamboo
fence
and
its
tightness,
combined
with
observation
facilities
such
as
the
passenger
bird's
nest,
it
has
become
an
indestructible
defense
facility.
The
Jiangjia
ancient
house,
with
its
strong
style
of
resisting
foreign
enemies,
represents
a
living
sample
of
a
settlement
that
was
gradually
formed
after
the
Han
people
settled
in
the
area,
and
is
full
of
rich
historical
and
cultural
significance.
The
belief
of
the
Jiangjia
settlement
is
based
on
the
central
axis
of
the
Jiangjia
ancestral
hall,
which
is
also
the
spiritual
center
of
the
tribe.
The
Jiangjia
ancestral
hall
is
located
in
the
southeast
and
northwest,
and
is
a
four-entry
style
house.
Looking
from
the
Provincial
Highway
No.
3,
there
is
a
half-moon
lotus
pond.
Looking
inside,
there
are
two
ancient
banyan
trees
creating
a
natural
green
arch,
which
is
the
most
obvious
entrance
image
into
the
settlement.
At
present,
the
Lutaoyang
Jiangjia
settlement
has
been
registered
as
a
"single-surname
traditional
settlement"
by
the
Cultural
Assets
Bureau
of
the
Ministry
of
Culture
in
2009
in
accordance
with
Article
16
of
the
Cultural
Assets
Preservation
Act.
The
Jiangjia
ancestral
hall
in
the
settlement
has
also
been
registered
as
a
historical
building.
