    Here is my very fair and honest opinion about Longtail. A few friends that dined here had recommended this spot knowing I’m big on food so I got the chance and of course opted for the high end price point. I thought the setting was decent with the sort of bar feel to it. When each dish came, the presentations were well prepared. The taste was above average as well but I expected to be wowed by this place as I had high hopes of it being another Raw, Impromptu, or Mume. As the evening course was ending I pretty much had a 3 star rating in mind, that is until I was blown away by the two different desserts they served. This gave it the push to be 4 stars and a chance to win me as a repeating customer again. Yea I would say give this place a shot, will probably enjoy it. As for me I take a round two to try their other dishes.

    I'm having a wonderful time indulging in the culinary delights at this establishment, where each dish is skillfully crafted with creative flair. The food here is incredibly appealing, with the tile fish standing out as an exceptional highlight—it was simply exquisite!     I have been treated to this restaurant by my brother for my birthday. I am a 100% foodie, and this type of Michelin rated venue is always on my radar. We had the tasting menu. Except for the foie gras dumplings, which were bitter and the ridiculous size of the dessert portion, the food was 1 star Michelin grade. The price far from a bargain but not excessive. What really killed the expérience was the lousy service. Food starts coming before the aperitif cocktails have been served, wine is not at the right temperature and comes in cheap non accurate wine glasses. No napkins, no change of cutlery, no explanations about what you actually have on your plate,... You have the impression of being served by students on a side job. This is evidence to the fact that Michelin applies different criteria in Asia than in Europe. This restaurant is interesting, but definitely not suited for a celebration or a business dinner. By European standard, Longtail is a serious embarrassment to the person who invites.

    Long tail really needs another look at their customer service and attitude. Somewhere along the way, they’ve become stiff, uncaring and even rude. We used to love coming here but recent changes have left a sour taste in our mouths. Let’s begin with the reservation experience. It is now totally automated and impersonal. The restaurant also requires a reservation fee, which is absolutely understandable. However, the “rules” listed online mentions that the reservation will be cancelled 10 minutes after the specified time with no refunds. We were running 20 minutes late and we were not able to call in to confirm we were still coming. Furthermore, no one called to confirm with us. This made us walk into the restaurant with some uneasiness, as we were unsure of the status of our reservation. When we asked the host about this, they smugly replied with “we don’t answer calls after 6pm”. To make matters worse, our favorite dish came more burnt than we were used to. We literally come specifically for the fig ricotta toast. When we politely inquired about the toast being more burnt than usual, the waitress told us confidently we were mistaken. It is always this burnt. Well, our fond memories and pictures of this dish says otherwise but obviously she knew best. We sincerely hope the staff improves. This really is one of our favorite places in Taipei but for a starred restaurant, service should come first and we did not feel that way this time.

    Well what can I say! I think it is the starred restaurant in Taiwan with the least sense! We can't understand how this Bar/restaurant , was clessified by Michelin Guide with one star! Since we heard just yesterday via phone , Mr. Gwendal Poullennec who is the editor of the michelin Guide , we decided to write him a nice email, to know by what parameters the michelin stars were issued in Taiwan. We reserved the restaurant, table for four people. We arrive at 07:00 , the restaurant is empty, and the waiter can't find our reservation. So they prepare a table, and in the meantime , we sit at the bar. Some cocktails are acceptable, others are annaqquate. We take a seat at the table, it was the third time we were taken to this restaurant but the quality of the food has really deteriorated. The dishes almost the same, some never changed, others ... I can't find the right words to classify them . We are realizing that in Asia and especially here in Taiwan the michelin star has another value compared to other Asian areas. You tell me if these are dishes worthy of a michelin star! Logically we do not recommend the restaurant. Eating in an empty restaurant is ugly, and disheartening

    Came here for my partners birthday dinner, 1st proper fine dining dine in covid style after 3 months of no dine in allowed in Taiwan. Had heard about this place a lot so I decided to book it for him. Truly doesnt disappoint. There were 2 set meals to choose from, and everything lived up to the standard i expected from this Michelin star restaurant. Staff were attentive and friendly too. Only thing was my partner had a really bad stomachache after the meal and the next day and we have no idea why. He had some dishes i didnt, but staff were quick to attend and investigate. Doesnt change the fact that we still had a really good time at the restaurant, perhaps it was just something that didnt sit right with him, but id still 100% recommend this place to people to have a date night etc at.

    Kind of stumbled upon this restaurant on Facebook or something when I was looking for new trendy place to dine in with a friend. Due to the pandemic, there are only 2 set menus and they both offer very different items but the prices are similiar. I can't emphasize enough the importance of ordering the cocktail pairing with the food. The items tasted much better with alcohol because the cocktails were just so inventive and complementary to the dishes. The food items were a bit hit and miss. There were a few items that I did not like, but they comprised a set of unique fusion plates. I would definitely come back again for the cocktails.

    A fusion of Asian and western restaurant. The presentation is good, but the taste is not impressive. Some of South East Asian foods are included in the dishes. The server is friendly and nice, but the training needs to be improved. Overall experience is ok, but not really amazing. Also the location is a little bit far.

    The environment is so great, love the beautiful European style decorations. The staffs are very nice and friendly, explain the dishes and cuisines in detail, and make us feel very comfortable while dining. My favorite dish is the steak, goat cheese salad and dessert.

    Good vibe of the restaurant. Great service and staffs. Interesting cocktail menu with a lot of pandan infused drinks. Food is OK and presented relatively well. There are some use of Taiwan local ingredients but generally cannot feel too much. But I certainly support Longtail better than other Japanese Michelin restaurants in Taiwan.

    My favorite restaurant in Taipei. Good food. I took out a star, because I wish we were allowed a table without a set meal. The tables were empty but we couldn't sit despite us ordering what set meals would have cost. 9k for 3 people! They could always put a minimum per person if we get a table. It's my only complaint.

    I really enjoyed the meal. Each dish was flavorful and well-presented. The crunchy soft shell crab was one of the best I've ever had. The beef tenderloin has evolved through the years, and it's juicy and delicious. The scallion pasta was chewy and tasty. Chef Kin was very friendly. We could easily feel his passion and dedication to his craft.

    Ordered from the ala carte menu because we wanted variety/flexibility. The stand outs were the fig toast, shrimp sliders, and eel gua bao. Kanpachi sashimi was also delicious. Tried 4 different mains, all pretty good but the appetizers were just way more memorable.

    Backdated from our holiday trip in Dec 2023. We made a reservation for 7 paxs. We were overwhelmed as they nicely setup a long table for us. The entire experience is excellent, food is delicious too. Except this is not kids friendly but a perfect couple place!

    Came here for our wedding anniversary. Great food, atmosphere and service. The only complaint is the loud concertation carried over from the adjacent tables and the bar. That being said, the culinary event definitely exceeded our expectation after enjoying fine dining in many major cities in the US and Europe . Although we reserved it in the last minute, Longtail saved a romantic window table for us. For starters, we had the uni rice crisp, the shrimp sliders, and the quail lemongrass noodle. The uni crisp was artfully done, (my favorite) the umami of the uni was captured in a mousse form, playfully balanced with yuzu and shiso flavor. Main courses: hubby ad the pork chop and I had the grouper. Dessert: matcha French toast and espresso ice cream. All had a bit of some Asian flair in it but exquisitely done. Sparkling wine was excellent with just the right amount of acidity to go with my turmeric grouper. Amazing! Thanks for a great evening.

    The vibe was great, the food was amazing! I love the fresh fig appetizer, the grouper, and crispy shrimp burger and the beef fillet was the best, very tender and the dressing was flavorful! We did not go with the cocktail paring, the Australian Shiraz red went really well with the signature set menu!

    Good easy access location. Nice foods, the wine value was all right. However, not sure what was the reason but (none of the following was communicated while we booked the table): 1) we were told to have 120mins for dinner (so called for the first run) 2) it was the set menu (TWD3580+10% service fee) for that evening, for “first run” guests. 3) other new terms for the min charge for “second run” guests and for the min charge of guests sitting in the bar area…. The worst “Michelin experience” ever, and the service team seems not coordinated, service level and arrangement made us sure we wont come back again. Not sure whether the bone was supposed to be there in the dish as well. FYI.

    Came here to celebrate Valentine's and we ordered the experience menu set with cocktail pairing. Everything was delicious, elegant with inventive interpretation of food. Some flavours were familiar but presented in a creative and unique way. They really nailed the texture for us. We loved the laid back atmosphere and funk/disco music selection was a plus. Great place for an intimate date. Easily our favorite in Taipei. Highly recommended. ❤️

    Decided to try this place and was not disappointed.. We opted for the tasting menu and everything tasted wonderful. The servers/host explained everything and even went the extra mile to look up some of the ingredients to explain what they were in English and Japanese. We were also treated to the Kaya french toast as it was also a birthday celebration. Kaya french toast is part to the regular menu and should not be missed. Can't wait to try the next tasting menu on our next visit.
