The National Palace Museum is one of the largest museums in Asia and the world. It has a collection of Chinese art spanning from the Neolithic era to the present, with more than 700 thousand pieces with an amazing diversity of presentations. The National Palace Museum has so much to show, you will always feel like you are in a new space you have never visited before. An example of this are the permanent exhibitions of painting and calligraphy, which are rotated quarterly, in which you can see more than three thousand pieces of the collection, in one of the samples. The collection of the National Palace Museum deals mainly with art and pieces of Chinese history. It is a collection of masterpieces.

All the treasures of the Imperial Palace from calligraphy and ink and wash, to fine carvings and ancient artifacts. This museum and it's southern counterpart hold the finest pieces from China's history. Over time it is progressing from a dry academic focus to hosting exhibitions with wider appeal. Do have a look at the website to see what's on. If you feel that you need a break from the culture then your ticket also gives access to the nearby gardens and the staff are happy to stamp your hand allowing reentry to the museum. If you're on a tight budget then it's worth bringing a picnic to eat in the garden as there aren't many alternative places to eat in the area.

We visited Taiwan for the first time. We loved the country and the people. This museum was one of the highlights of our trip. We had the chance to see 2500 years old exhibits and to better understand the history of this side of the world. We continued our visit to the museum with a long walk in the park and gardens close by the museum. We visited in October, the weather was very nice and the numbers of tourists wasn’t high at all. This was another enjoyable part of our trip.

The National Palace Museum in Taiwan is a must-visit for all tourists in Taipei. The museum presents an amazing and comprehensive display of Chinese history and culture. However, visitors should be prepared for the extremely cold temperature inside the museum - bringing a small jumper or jacket is recommended. The staff at the National Palace Museum are super nice and helpful, and everything is presented in English, making it easy for non-Chinese speakers to understand and appreciate the exhibits. While audio tours are available, it's better to read the descriptions as the audio spots are limited even in the English language. The museum is also an excellent destination for families with children. There is an interactive children's book available at the entrance, and the museum has spots and activities all over for kids to learn and play. Many families with children have enjoyed the museum, thanks to its engaging and educational exhibits. Overall, the National Palace Museum is a great place to learn about Chinese history and culture, and it's an experience that shouldn't be missed.

Amazing museum of Asian art and culture. So many beautiful pieces from China that date back many centuries. With works in stone, bronze, ceramic, and many beautiful works of art and calligraphy, there is a lot to see. The Jade cabbage might be the famous piece here but there is so much more to see. The self guided tour headset is worth getting and is useful no matter what order you visit the exhibits.

The National Palace Museum is huge! There are many places to take pictures outside of the museum. Once inside there are many artifacts to look at and you can see the Chinese history with each piece of art. Now is a good time to go there are not that many people going at this time. One of my favorite pieces of art was the jade cabbage. There is so much to look at. And you can take a souvenir home with the vast collection of item's to buy in the gift shop.

And now a bit of culture that never hurts On the contrary, we grow up and understand better the place that is welcoming us💞 It is the national museum of the Republic of China, and has a permanent collection of over 697,490 pieces of ancient Chinese artifacts and artwork, making it one of the largest in the world. The collection includes over 8,000 years of Chinese history from the Neolithic age to the late Qing dynasty. Mostly it is made up of high quality pieces collected from ancient emperors of China. In 2008 it was one of the most visited museums on the planet. The museum comes from a collection of antiques gathered in 1914 in the Exhibition Center of Antiquities (south of the Forbidden City in Beijing). After the founding of the National Palace Museum in 1924, China experienced a period of great turmoil, which forced the transfer of works of art. The imperial collections have made a fantastic journey of over thirty-two years and more than ten thousand kilometers between the departure decided in 1933 in the face of the Japanese invasion and their deposit in Taipei decided to escape the communist uprising. After the expulsion of Emperor Puyi from the Forbidden City by the republican authorities, the Imperial Palace was placed in November 1924 under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior, which transformed it into a national museum. A special committee was set up to identify and classify the preserved works. The palace collection was then completed with works of art recovered from the imperial residences in Manchuria: the Qing hunting lodge, the Mukden palace (Shenyang) and the summer residence in Rehe (Chengde). On October 10, 1925, the National Palace Museum officially saw the light of day and was opened to the public. Following the invasion of Manchuria by Japan and the political instability that is rampant in northern China, the government of the Republic of China decides to transfer the collections to the south. All parts were then packed in about twenty thousand sealed crates, ready for departure. The Moukden (Shenyang) incident of September 18, 1931 brought things to a head. Japanese troops invaded Manchuria directly threatening the city of Beijing. On February 4, 1933, the crates were loaded onto two trains bound for Pukou, a city on the left bank of the Yangzi Jiang opposite Nanjing. Arriving in Pukou, unable to cross the river, the treasures had to remain on board the train. A month later, the crates were divided into five lots and evacuated by boat to Shanghai. Arriving in Shanghai in April 1933, they were piled up in an abandoned warehouse. In December 1936 they were transported by train to Nanjing and it all ended up in a reserve in the Chaotian Palace. In 1937, following the Japanese capture of Beijing, the collections were separated and evacuated to Guizhou and Sichuan in western China. This time they were divided into three lots, each with its own destination. The first lot, comprising several thousand cases, including eighty of the most precious works of art returned from an exhibition in London, left in August 1937 by ship to Hankou (in Hubei), then by train to Changsha (in Hunan) , to be temporarily deposited in the Hunan University library. After the Changsha station was bombed, the convoy was unloaded and transported by truck to Guilin (Guangxi), then north to Guiyang, Guizhou. The objects were deposited in early 1938 in caves near Anshun, 70 kilometers from Guiyang. Meanwhile, the other two lots have been evacuated by river. One, comprising nearly nine thousand four hundred cases, left for Hankou where the order was given to deliver it to Chongqing. Arriving in Yichang (Hubei), the last upstream port for ships, the cargo was normally transhipped on boats that went up the Yangzi Jiang to Chongqing, then Yibin where it landed to arrive by road in September 1939 in Leshan (Sichuan). The last batch left Nanking in December 1937 a few days before the Japanese capture of Nanking. The convoy of about seven thousand crates of the collection was returned to Pukou, on the other side.

The museum was beautiful. Outside, there’s a very nice garden and it just felt grand, especially with the way the building was designed. And the view of the mountain tops was gorgeous. The collection inside the museum is very organized. I enjoyed looking at the artifacts a lot. There are items from different dynasties, even a few things from before the common era. The place is also very accessible, PWD and seniors included.

Cool museum it has a lot of interesting artifacts I am coming out with a slightly better understanding of the history, but a much better appreciation to the art, calligraphy, and the importance on jade. There is a ton of pottery, so if that is your thing you are in the right place. There are 3 levels with 8 exhibits on each, bring comfortable shoes Kids under 18 enter free I paid 150 NTD for my entry, chose to go without a guide.

I was lucky enough to see a performance in the memorial hall, however it was super busy and a bit difficult to see. There are some great calligraphy paintings downstairs that are incredible! Definitely check those out, they change the gallery once every few weeks/months.

We spent most of the day here. The best Chinese artwork in the country are housed here. I don't like museums much but the pieces here are so stunning (one hairpin had so much detail that you looked through a magnifying glass to see everything). I highly recommend the tour b/c it highlights a lot of the important information (e.g., ancient people carved their stories into their decorative metal bowls to immortalize their exploits). The only downside was that some of the pieces were moved to their new southern branch to attract visitors there and we didn't get to see them.

(Translated by Google) It is generally a knowledge-based museum with a higher standard, which is to organize the knowledge you know and then organize it into a better and more streamlined exhibition. So you can see what the people in this land are doing. Some of them are backward compatible, exhibiting antiquities such as those who lived in mainland China in the early years. Therefore, it is suitable for people who don't have much time to learn, or who want to understand the cultural content of Chinese in a short time. It is a good place to meet many famous people in the Chinese world. Most of the famous people in the Chinese world are currently focused on people and things related to the Chinese royal family. It roughly corresponds to the fact that many universities in Taiwan are producing knowledge to reduce the knowledge gap with ancient China. Roughly after the museum has been sorted out, usually decades of time have been sorted into a few words, or even a few voices. So if you have little relationship with the Chinese imperial family, usually such facilities are of limited help to you. Most of them are close to landmarks. The other is that you have to find a way to learn and understand before you can participate. Because usually your knowledge is converted into some product use experience or related knowledge and internalized. Those who need more explanation can refer to the content of YouTube’s device orchestra account. Roughly speaking, the final product of most people is actually a tool or product that cannot speak. So it will eventually become a consumer habit. Corresponding to the three keywords "Xi" (user's habit), "near" (near the user), and "ping" (what the user usually does). So in general, if you have enough get off work, you can run YouTube appropriately during off-hours to have more interaction with your users, or people who are interested. Roughly organized by religious groups, these Xi, Jin, and Ping content will usually become a convenience store to live with users and improve their living conditions. So these convenience stores are a kind of Xi Jinping's existence. Just how good you are now, I will show you what it looks like. In general, it is also a manifestation of esophagus culture. In principle, these tools or products can provide further information, but the information is changed or overwritten in sales or some requirements. Therefore, it becomes necessary to use special tools "deliberately", "further", or "higher standards" to send out meaningful sounds or information on the channels provided for reference. Roughly corresponding to the current environment is AI, machine learning and other technical support, auxiliary system tools to further provide assistance that the original tools cannot provide. Through the accumulation of more interactive data with users, it can produce more meaningful information for users and assist manufacturers in further product development. The current YouTube is also further narrowing the distance between consumers and users, and further collect relevant usage opinions as much as possible to further solve the problem. In principle, it is quite difficult to obtain relevant information on the exhibition and requires the assistance of technological tools, so basically people who are interested pay attention to it. The other is to participate as a sightseeing landmark. In this regard, publicity can be more convenient. Reduce the limited use of commercialized specifications. Information can be obtained only by using PDF or a specific free platform Google Information System. It means to reduce overhead. As if serving the Americans. So people in the public service system can spend more snacks on publicity and governance. Make these contents closer to the people's vision. Most of the current policies are focused on improving the family. The content is roughly in a state of competition between agricultural communism and democracy. That is, the state of competition between agricultural production and the rights of people's lives. Therefore, the most well-known exhibits in the Palace Museum are still meat-shaped stones and "food" artworks of jade cabbage. Many people still pay the bill after so many years. The food is still very important in the current environment and is still listed as one of contemporary art. There are still many people who are interested. The main reason is that the people in Taiwan are generally reluctant to provide an unlimited agricultural production to supply the people living in the mainland. Because most of the production is mainly to satisfy the life of the royal family, there are too many royal content movies of the past emperors, concubines, etc., and the administration is inconsistent and disputes. On the matter of how to create more princes, there is generally no good evaluation in the news and the media. The emergence of a good emperor is roughly once in hundreds of years. There is no next shop after this mountain. Moreover, it has continued to appear repeatedly for nearly 3,000 years, ignoring the demands of the people and leading the people to find their own way. In terms of performance, it is roughly beyond the political ability of the Chinese emperor to deal with it. Wherever time is, achievements will be made. The lack of time and ability has caused Taiwanese people to have the space to find a better way out on their own. After the Eight-Nation Alliance defeated the battle, I didn't know where to hide. To this day, there are still countless people in the Chinese world expecting better performance from the government or the power side. Over the past 30 years, Taiwan has invested a lot of energy in the development of science and technology, engineering, and medicine to improve the people's real life and economic experience. It has paid a lot less attention to the past. The technological experience mainly brought by Google, YouTube, Facebook, Apple PC/NB/mobile has improved the efficiency of people's lives. Reduce the difficulties of life. Mainly because of the high standards brought by the technological life. After more international participation and improvement of local life, more difficult problems are gradually involved and resolved. In addition to the new value, there are also some joint responsibilities. It is roughly in line with what Mr. Guo Taiming said: "Choices are more important than hard work." I chose to get closer to the United States, and I climbed up 20 floors with the benefits I could get instantly. Three hundred years of struggle in life. Generally speaking, it can be seen from the deterioration of US-China relations that, in general, China's governance attitude still does not want Taiwan to have too many changes in its outlet. They should go back to the past, which was roughly the Tang Dynasty, continue to work in agriculture, and continue to do more things that are beneficial to their fertility. Related products are to guide you to compete with Emperor Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty, which means to find a more capable next emperor. I want you to show Li Shimin better. It means to want a more capable leader. To be someone who can create more fertility. Because the value created by Emperor Li Shimin is about to run out. Generally speaking, under the interpretation of Buddhism, related things only need to be done for another 5.7 billion years. Friends in Taiwan, please be patient. The content of the royal family is generally actively promoted by Taoism and Buddhism, but the related content generally has a low starting point, so efforts may not be fruitful, and the recruitment of suitable people is continued. The general recommendation is to have the ability to participate for more than 15 years before considering doing it. Therefore, in general, there must be long-term cultivation and may require psychological preparation to face competition. The Sacred Path culture is relatively less likely to actively recruit new blood. Instead of promoting Christmas culture, it also gives the people more personal and private space.

It is one of the largest museums in Asia and it has many artifacts related to various dynasties of China. It has many sections to see. Souvenir shops are one the best attraction of the museum. It has a prayers room for Muslims. My advice is to visit there with an audio guide or guide. Well connected to public transportation. Recommended visiting.

Took my son with me, drove in an electric scooter no need for driver license if u use electric scooter. Parked in the scooter parking lot. Was very good to get to and to my surprise we both got inside for free because we're both Taiwan citizens and my son is student and I'm disabled. Both presented the IDs needed and got free entrance when normally it would cost over 250 Taiwan dollar per person for tourists. The displays were very interesting all antiques. No food or drinks allowed. There's drinking water fountain inside just bring your empty bottle to fill it up inside. Had walked into all the displays on all floors and was exhausted. This place would be a favorite place for those who loves antiques. Be ready to walk over 4 hrs. To be able to finish the whole building.

My number 1 favourite museum so far! I enjoy visiting museums and I spent almost 3 hours (average 1 hour per floor). I came here in 2019, and happy to see new exhibitions and learn new things from the past. The facilities here are also good (they have Muslim prayer hall, which I think is very thoughtful).

Great exhibits but not all of them have translations into English. Especially on the first floor where all the great transcripts are located. Don’t drink from your bottle of water, you will be ostracized. LOL. Be prepared to awed, read and be fascinated by your very own eyes. The artifacts takes you from clay arts discovery to the Bronze Age.

The museum here represents what would be considered the aspects of Chinese cultural history. This can be first seen by the structure of the museum, representing a Chinese imperial building found after going down a wide pathway and up steps. The museum offers a wide variety of Chinese cultural artifacts, especially in terms of paintings and Chinese pottery. These extend from antiquity through to the later stages of the Chinese monarchy. Screen prints can be found here along with various types of statues. Statues of Indian and Arab origin can also be found here, brought from other parts of the world or representing the influence they brought into Chinese society. If you don’t have a car, you would need to take a bus. You can connect to the requires buses from the Taipei Metro and the buses stop in front of the museum.

A really great museum. There are many exhibits inside, you'll learn a lot of their culture and precious artifacts. A tip though is to buy your tickets online to avoid ticket buying queues. Water and food are also confiscated upon entry. The displays and exhibits have English translations so it's easy to to get a gist of what they're all about. But if you really want to learn about the displays thoroughly, you can also rent audio-learning materials.

One of the highlights in our visit in Taiwan. I'm so glad we decided to go here. It was very educational as they have a large collection of pieces of history. There was a guided tour and I wish we joined but doing a DIY is still okay. Make sure you have enough time because the whole museum is huge and it would be a waste if you cant see at least 75% of the place. I love this, and the only thing I wasn't too thrilled about the place is the lack of restaurants inside. There was a cafe though which was full of other tourists. The exterior of the museum was really nice and picturesque so make sure to capture those.

I enjoyed my visit the price was reasonable. But my hometown museum in Kansas City Missouri which does specialize in Asian art has much better examples. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Kansas City Missouri. I really thought that there would be much better examples. The calligraphy is extensive and impressive but just not as interesting as paintings or statuary

The National Palace Museum located in Taipei, Taiwan, has a permanent collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artworks, making it one of the largest of its type in the world. The collection encompasses 8,000 years of history of Chinese art from the Neolithic age to the modern. Most of the collection are high quality pieces collected by China's emperors. The National Palace Museum shares its roots with the Palace Museum in the Forbidden City, whose extensive collection of artwork and artifacts were built upon the imperial collections of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

(Translated by Google) The north courtyard of the Forbidden City is a Chinese palace-style building. The main building looks like the Meridian Gate of the Forbidden City in Beijing. It houses calligraphy, paintings, rare books, archives, bronzes, ceramics, jade and other cultural relics. It is a good place to understand Chinese art and culture. I personally think that the National Museum of History and the Academia Sinica Historical Relics Exhibition Hall are also called "Chinese Cultural Treasures." The two sides of the courtyard will then imitate Chinese gardens and set up the "Zhushanyuan" and "Zhudeyuan". The National palace museum, located in Shilin, Taipei, Taiwan. This museum is around 2 km away from Shilin MRT. This museum has a permanent collection of nearly 700K pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artworks. The National Palace Museum shares its roots with the Palace museum in the main land China. All the collections are displayed in 3 floors in the main building. To know about the artifacts and artworks history, audio guide is available in the ticket counter for 159 NTD. The entry pass worth 350 NTD for foreigners. Near the ticket counter, one caffe is there.

My favorite institution in all of Taiwan! There's so much to see here; from all the ancient treasures in the form of paintings, sculptures and calligraphy. You could literally be here for hours. Make sure to see the famous jade cabbage and meat stone here. I believe they're in a separate room now and there's usually a limit of how many people can be allowed in. Note: Visited prior to COVID

National Palace Museum is a to go place for tourist who is dropping by Taiwan. It is a great place to learn about the history of Taiwan and chinese history as well. It contains a lot of national treasure, chinese art, bronze object and so on. One of everyone’s favorite is the jade cabbage. The view of the palace from the outside is already deserve a 5 star rating for photo taking. Around the museum compound also contain a small lake that fill with serenity.

You can easily spend hours at this museum, where they have every intricate type of artefact dating back from the Qing dynasty etc. I was impressed and amazed at how well-preserved they have been kept, and the level of detail shown in the workmanship of these brillant pieces of art in all of them. I took many photos and videos as I wish I could come back again the next day to continue (get tired walking around 4 floors worth of the museum 😅), so here are some of those I took as well. Definitely a must-go, even for someone who doesn't typically enjoy museums, this place fascinated me.

Must-visiting museum if you're interested in history and ancient culture. This is one of the biggest museum in Asia where still remain and exhibit many treasures "White cabbage", "Pork meat", etc. The theme will be changed every season. It's free admission for student, you need to bring your student card. It also provide the audio guide/demo in many languages. You can borrow at the ticket booth. The staffs are friendly and professional. From the entrance to the bus stop takes approximately 5 min walking.

The museum is very neat and well managed. the museum is good for art connoisseurs or for those who want to know the treasures of china in the past. From this museum, visitors will know more about relics and history. on the bottom floor, there is an area for children. This area uses interesting technology to introduce historical objects. the ticket price is 350nt for adult. There is moslem prayer room near the children area.

Huuuge museum with more than 600.000 collections. I highly recommend to read about the history behind or took some guide to give you some magical and interesting journey. If you took a guide, you can rent audio system in a cheap price. The desain of the building is fancy and gives you the luxury sensation experience. Because it maybe will be boring trip if just look aroud. I see many people have a book like a scavengers game, I think it’s a great idea to enjoy this kind of place. Muslim and kids friendly, they have children area with some hi-tech touch, the kids really loved it. The prayer room is in B1 floor. The souvenir shop in B1 and you can find a cafe on 1st floor. You cannot bring big backpack inside the exhibitions (you have to leave it on the counter/locker), can not bring a drinking bottle (they provide drinking fountain using small paper glass inside the museum). (Even my child can not bring their balloons) I wish I can come back again someday!

An amazingly beautiful, great museum to visit in Taiwan, definitely a must! The building itself is a work of art, from the gate to the inside, everything is beautiful and so picturesque, so many awesome picture spot with a lot of knowledge to attain inside. The museum has both chinese and english information for each exhibition so it's very easy to understand especially for tourist. Transportation also easy, go to Shilin MRT station, exit 1, from there only 1~2 mins walk to the bus station. A lot of bus options. The bus stop is right in front of the museum. From the museum, it's also incredibly easy to go to the bus stop (there's even a bus stop inside the museum area) which you can use to directly go to Shilin Night Market. For the ticket, it was a bit expensive ($350) but i do believe it is worth the price with so many exhibitions inside, if you have Taiwanese ARC, you can get a discount to $150, and if you are a Taiwanese student, the ticket is free! (Please check the website or ask the museum before visiting as price may change)

I am a repeat visitor. The first time in the early 1990s. This is a world class museum and does a great job in explaining every room and artefact in English. There are so many beautiful objects to see. It always amazes me at how old some of them are. 1000 year old pottery and books that could have been produced yesterday. I don’t think single visit can do it justice and the if I lived locally I would check and visit the special exhibits as they are renewed.

This is a must visit place when in Taipei. Getting to the museum is relatively easy by public transport. This is most easily done with the red line of the metro and then transfer by bus. the number 255 is recommended, but there are at least 6 other buses that will stop you in front of the museum. You can buy a promo card from the klook app, this way you will optimize your expenses and also make it easier to travel by public transport. The museum itself is excellently organized, huge halls, well arranged and with very detailed information. You can additionally get a translation with headphones as you walk through the various halls, as well as hire a guide to pay even more attention to the history of the museum. I recommend allowing between 120 and 180 minutes for the visit and separate time for transportation.

It's a cute place but... Ok, there are some things that bother me personally but might be fine for most people. The museum is hard to follow. The exhibitions are on three or four floors but the stairs is in the middle with around ten rooms around you that are connected to each so you can't just start from one room and transition to each one of them. You have to go back to the main hall and then go to another room. The room numbers aren't super clear either. It's a museum with no arrows showing where to start and where to go next so you have to remember the number of every room you've been to. Also one personal thing that I like to assess in museums is how information is delivered to us. How they explain the art in the room, the context, the symbolism. And in this museum, it's a mess. Some areas have a lot of things, some don't. Some have them in many languages, some only in Chinese so it becomes inconsistent if not underwhelming (especially with the building layout that is complex) so there's no chronology. It becomes underwhelming and not very fun so you just end up looking at art without understanding what you're looking at. The outside is really beautiful and the art there is admirable but... It lacks accessibility, both in the visiting "pathing" and the way knowledge is delivered to visitors, especially ones who are not of Asian culture.

One of the must visit attrition in Taiwan, as a citizen of Taiwan I only visit a hand full of times, but still find it very interesting and lot to learn from. Only wish they were able to control the traffic flow. The tour usually flooded one space after another, other then that still great to visit.

For museum nerds and historical story geeks out there, this is an absolute must go place when you visit Taipei. The national museum collects various historical treasures of China in here. The ticket can be purchased in the front with fee 350twd. You can just spend half a day in here easily since there are many floors and exhibition areas to explore. Recommended to arrive early at 9am, after 10-10.30 there will be a lot of tourists coming in.

Fascinating, well-maintained museum with many interesting exhibits about Taiwan history, cultural artifacts, calligraphy, traditional porcelain & fine decor, and anthropology. Highly recommend a visit in Taipei! Most of the displays are captioned in Chinese and English, a few are Chinese only. The exhibit about western colonisation of Taiwan is very interesting, I liked looking at the colonial maps of what cartographers interpretation of how the world continents looked like before satellite imagery. There is a very beautiful courtyard outside for relaxing, photos, and taking in the views. Admission is a slightly expensive for non-Taiwanese, around 250NTD. It would probably take ~3-4 hours to finish walking the entire museum (4 floors) at a leisurely pace. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the museum's signature artifacts 肉形石 (Meat Shaped Stone) and 翠玉白菜 (Jade Cabbage) because they are currently on seasonal rotation to the Tainan branch of National Palace Museum.

A must go if you're interested in Taiwan's history. There's a special exhibit from time to time. It could get very cold inside as the air-condition is very strong to preserve all of the relics, but the staff is very helpful and friendly and the audio guide is very good. The view outside is good too and traveling is easy by a bus. The price per person is TWD350 which is very valuable

This museum is definitely in the top three that I have ever been to. I arrived just after opening on a weekday. No line. Purchased my ticket, rented an audio headset, and walked in. Workers were very friendly and helpful. It was suggested that I begin on the top floor and work my way down. The museum is very spacious, clean, well organized, with exhibits divided by time periods and categories with sone interactive displays. I would definitely recommend this museum as it was one of my highlights visiting Taipei.

Must visit place to learn Chinese history and culture. Main exhibition changes from time to time. Plan at least half day here. Join the guided tour if you are press in time and/or don't know where to start. For those have plenty of time, rent the audio device by the entrance. You can go through the exhibitions at your own pace and spent as long as you want at an article. The guided tour goes through the main articles. It doesn't give you the chance to go through every one of them. We spent 5 hours there and only went through 2 of the 3 floors of exhibition hall 1. Definitely wear a comfortable shoes. There's a lot of walking and standing. Your feet will thank you for that. :-)

Capturing audience attention is often a result of sophisticated media activity. The National Museum works with an earlier format; more content and less glitter, more space and less frenzy, more assurance and less convincing. There's a cafe here for those trending towards caffeine affection and I especially enjoyed the latte, but I used my cellphone mainly as a camera and let my unused attention compare displays and text and the wonder of viewing the historical as actual. Try it.

The National Palace Museum was originally established as the Palace Museum in the Forbidden City on 10 October 1925, shortly after the expulsion of Puyi, the last emperor of China, from the Forbidden City by warlord Feng Yuxiang. The articles in the museum consisted of the valuables of the former Imperial family. In 1931, shortly after the Mukden Incident Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist Government ordered the museum to make preparations to evacuate its most valuable pieces out of the city to prevent them from falling into the hands of the Imperial Japanese Army. As a result, from 6 February to 15 May 1933, the Palace Museum's 13,491 crates and 6,066 crates of objects from the Exhibition Office of Ancient Artifacts, the Summer Palace and the Imperial Hanlin Academy were moved in five groups to Shanghai. In 1936, the collection was moved to Nanking after the construction of the storage in the Taoist monastery Chaotian Palace was complete. As the Imperial Japanese Army advanced farther inland during the Second Sino-Japanese War, which merged into the greater conflict of World War II, the collection was moved westward via three routes to several places including Anshun and Leshan until the surrender of Japan in 1945. In 1947, it was shipped back to the Nanjing warehouse.

(Translated by Google) I went here a few years ago and took pictures on the first floor. It was not intentional, but really did not notice the reminder not to take pictures. As a result, the staff at the door shouted to us: "No pictures!" After yelling, he still stared at it. Haha, I want to say, you can remind me in a low voice, and we will stop taking pictures immediately. It's as if you want the whole world to know! End of stare! Also made an action to drive us out. With a low-pitched face, it is really a shame to work in the Forbidden City!

Had a good day out here. The museum exhibits include many things that were brought from Mainland China and put into this museum.

Incredible collection but unfortunately the museum itself does not do the collection justice. Taiwan is a wealthy country and possesses many of the great treasures of Chinese history and culture. They should hire better people (professional curators, translators, etc.) to make this the world-class museum it could and should be.

Valuable historical classic pictures calligraphy and documents to remember! Without preview people struggling Without today's presentations! Never neglected their efforts! Or, we couldn't teach our youth what is true, what is love, and what is beauty!!

This place was soooooo nice. Clean. Comfortable and kind of silent that I’m looking for after stranded in Taipei City. The ticket was free for students and we can learn a lot of stuff inside. They also have audio guide that we can borrow in the counter.

The place is great and refreshing to learn about Taiwan and other related History. The Palace itself is so majestic in Personal and the little garden beside the garden will make you feel nostalgic. 🥰

One of the top museums in the world. I usually spend 3-4 hours at minimum at the museum and relax in the garden outside. It has a collection that is more extensive that what you can find in China. Many of these were carried from China to avoid destruction during the Communist takeover. It is a definitely a must go.

The building and surrounding areas are an experience already. The museum it self shows culture heritage dating back more than 8000 years. Without any knowledge about the Taiwanese and Chinese history, it can be a bit difficult to understand the meaning of some of the items. Still it's impressive to see and worth if you have time. English translations are not available for every text, therefore I deduct one star.

Rare collections from Chinese history. Extensive and stunning items on display. English descriptions everywhere makes it easy without an audio guide. Museum in a Grand building adjacent to a lovely little park. Worth visiting and reasonably-priced entry fee.

Great place, free water refill at every corner, nice staff and interesting exhibitions! Prices are reasonable but the public transportation could be better as the buses are driving not very frequently.

The museum has countless precious antiques, an elaborate collection, and scientific presentation. Visiting the museum can clearly understand the Chinese civilization from eights of thousands of years ago.

Amazing experience to see the treasurers of China!! Very open area, exquisite building, and an incredible collection of Chinese history. Realizing that I was mere few feet away from items that were several millennia old was mind boggling!

Was expecting a lot more of the visit. Majority of the exhibits were from the China emperor's collection. Artifacts were largely dated back < 1k years hence not greatly ancient. For an enormous place like this and with the entrance fee charged, was expecting more. The exhibits are spreaded over a few rooms in 3 floor area. No food is allowed and the wardens may check one's bag. Water bottles are allowed and there are multiple water coolers available for visitors to fill up. Toilets are also very conviniently reachable on every floor.

This museum is dedicated to Chinese dynasty, some priced from from 2000 BCE. Some magnificent pieces of Ming and Qing Pottery, Bronze, Ceramics etc. English explanations provided. Not so much about Taiwan's history, but it is the heritage of Han Chinese. Oh and situated in the grounds is a lovely garden with places to sit and relax

Why do you close at 5pm? It is too early. Beautiful museum with amazing artifacts brought from China. The government at the time wanted to protect these artifacts from the Japanese invasion and from the cultural revolution which was destroying many of the Chinese past cultures. I loved the paintings. Check out the ivory ball made; it has several concentric spheres all made out of one single piece of ivory. Do not forget to visit the cavage and pork meat sculptures; they are really beautiful and well made.

An absolute can't miss if you are vacationing in Taipei. The facilities are impeccably kept. The exhibits are frequently updated and rotated. This was my third visit and first in over ten years. The museum has done an amazing job of keeping up with the times and incorporating VR and high-tech visual display elements in showcasing the essence of Chinese art and artefacts. The staff are super friendly and helpful!

A treasure trove of Chinese history, culture, and literary excellence! I recommend visiting the old manuscripts room; I believe it is on the museum's first floor. The books there are stunning works of art! The jade on the third floor of the museum is also gorgeous.

Huge museum with lots of artifacts and different types of exhibition. There is also translation for most of the exhibits, making it tourist/foreigner-friendly. Also has a huge garden that has free admission. Overall worth making a trip there spending half a day if museum is your thing.

My family visited the museum as part of our first visit to Taipei. It is an excellent museum with much to see that helps provide an appreciation for the art and culture of the area. We all got the audio tour (individual mobile devices and headphones) which we enjoyed and felt added a lot to our experience at the museum.

This is a must visit attraction if you are coming to Taipei. With 3 storeys of exhibits, do plan with minimum of 2 hours before coming over. Additional duration if you are bringing any elders. There's couple of souvenir shops n a nice cafe which we had our lunch break b4 we continue the tour. Do bring a windbreaker or jacket as the AC are pretty chilling.

OMG I love this place so so much. There are so many things to explore. Took at least 2 hours to quickly see all the exhibits. Many many beautiful historical artsy things here.

I must say, the museum was absolutely amazing! The place had a beautiful green environment and the exhibits were full of interesting knowledge. I learned a lot about the history of Taiwan, the work of gold, old script handwritten letters in calligraphy, and much more. I even managed to buy some gifts for my homies. If I ever get the chance, I would definitely visit the museum again.

Wonderful collection of unique items, partially thousands of years old. 3 levels in the museum, each theme has its own room. They have old artifacts, daily use goods, art, calligraphy, jade carvings, .... A locker is on the right side of the cashier, no lockers inside the exhibition, so make sure to lock your bag before you enter, or else you carry it around. The easiest way to get there is by bus from Shinshan Metro Station. There's a big display on the street listing all buses to NPM.
