Kinda hidden, sandwiched in block of buildings, I found this tranquil little temple while strolling around Ximending. It's not really a tourist attraction, but sill a beautiful place for curious people. There is an ATM, too. Just be respectful, if you are a visitor.

I simply love this little temple! The entrance does not look all that impressive, but I decided to just quickly peek inside, and I’m so glad that I did! It opens up to a lovely courtyard. This temple is cozy and serene, and not touristy. I also loved that it was tucked away right in the middle of the busy streets of Ximen right outside. Worth stopping by, if you are in the area.

Temple is surprisingly close to the hectic touristy Ximen area. Absolutely beautiful architecture here. Incense burning is a big ritual here. Free to enter. 5/5. Highly recommend.

A 270 year old temple which is considered one of the 3 major temples in the district. In honor to the goddess Mazu who protects sea fairing people this temple is right at the commercial area. The best time to visit is at night, where the lanterns surrounding the temple cast a golden red glow. #RP

A temple established from 1746 serving Má-tsoó͘, (媽祖)standing inside of hustle bustle Ximending business district, where historical culture blend into modern atmosphere. I must have been here 6 times over the last 5 years. Lit up 5-incense this afternoon, praying to Má-tsoó͘, guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion or goddess of mercy, (觀世音菩薩), Lord Guan (關聖帝君), Ksitigarbha (地藏王菩薩), Lord of Land(福德正神), Tiangong(玉皇上帝), in the hope of peaceful and smooth future. Naturally, there are, however, others pray for better fortune, better careers, family event including uneventful pregnancy, smooth delivery, specific gender of coming infant or simply happy family. There are quite a long wishes list people can come here pray and seeking for a hope. For those of you reading this, when are you planning to pay a visit and a pray?

Historic temple dedicated to the sea goddess, Mazu, with an ornate interior & a colorful exterior. The temple was built in 1746 with funds donated by immigrant merchants from Zhangzhou and Quanzhou in Fujian, China. It is one of the three major temples in Taiwan from Qing period along with Bangka Longshan Temple and Bangka Zushih Temple.

Temple is clean and well organized. Amazing architecture. It's in the midst of Ximending walking district.

This is a nice small temple where we went while waiting for our table at Watch BBQ. The temple has some beautiful pillars and a beautiful ceiling with red lamps. Its a very local temple if you walk by just pop in and have a quick look. There are much bigger and nicer temples in Taipei.

Looks like a regular store front from the street, but is a really charming temple once you enter. Relatively quiet and not very touristic, which means you get a rather authentic glance at local religion in Taipei here. Worships Mazu (媽祖), probably the most popular deity in Taiwan. This temple is not over 270 years old, as advertised on Google maps, but was relocated here during the Japanese period about one hundred years ago.

A place for worshiping of taipei people. Nothing much to see for a traveler. Actually they have Tianhou temple in every city of Taiwan. But the intresting is this one located in the middle of Ximen area which is famous for their chaostic night life and busy daylife. Get here easily by Youbike. The nearest station for parking is inside Xi men.
