I was a bit nervous doing a ryoken with our three small boys but this was a great place to do it. They are very good dealing with foreigners and have lots of English instructions. We got one of the suites with a river view and it is definitely the way to go if it's available. Sitting on the balcony enjoying a drink was a great way to close out the day. The kitchen area is great and well stocked although for a westerner they lacked our cutlery so I was glad we brought our own spoons. The location is very walkable to several parks and restaurants as well as the river. We will be back here.

My all-time favorite hostel, hands down. The onsen are convenient and just the right temperature. It's only an 8 minute walk from the station. The balcony views of the river are delightful. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The common area is an excellent place for socializing with fellow travelers. Whether you're backpacking through, vacationing with family or friends, or even just looking for a traditional Japanese cultural experience that won't break your budget, this is the place.

This ryokan hostel sits right in the center of town along the river and is 10 mins walking distance of the JR station and many food options. Prices are extremely reasonable considering it includes on-site onsen for private and public use. Now because it is a traditional Japanese inn, you’re definitely going to be hearing a lot of foot traffic in the building especially if you’re heavy-footed like me, lol. Friendly and helpful staff and spacious common areas to help with social distancing. 10/10, would definitely come back here to stay again. Thank you for hosting me and for an amazing time I had there.

Very good quality for the price. The hostel is located next to the historic Tokaikan with which it shares wonderful architecture and interiors. The only downside, as others have already pointed out, is the lack of soundproofing. Also, I waited hours for the private bath, only to find that other guests had forgotten to remove the "occupied" tag. If you choose to stay here, please be respectful and considerate of other guests.

Probably the best hostel I've stayed at anywhere in the world. The building is beautiful and immaculate. The onsen is lovely, the views are great, and the staff were outstanding.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at K's House in Ito Onsen, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The hostel offers a comfortable and affordable accommodation option in a prime location, perfect for exploring the beautiful surroundings of Ito. The common areas were well-maintained and provided a cozy atmosphere for socializing with fellow travelers. The facilities were clean, and the hostel offered a range of amenities, including a communal kitchen, laundry facilities, and a relaxing onsen. The onsen experience was particularly enjoyable after a long day of sightseeing, providing a tranquil and rejuvenating escape. However, I must mention the one downside I encountered during my stay—noise in the rooms. It’s in the nature of a ryokan style hostel - I know. But some guests were rather disrespectful, talking very loudly (and another couple moaning for 2 hours! after midnight) Unfortunately, the walls seemed to be quite thin, which allowed sound to travel easily between rooms. This made it challenging to get a restful night's sleep, especially if there were noisy neighbors. It would be wonderful if the management could address this issue to improve the overall experience for guests. Despite the noise concern, I still highly recommend K's House in Ito Onsen for budget-conscious travelers looking for a friendly atmosphere and convenient location. The hostel's excellent service, cleanliness, and range of amenities make it a great choice for those exploring Ito and its surrounding attractions. I would gladly return to K's House in the future, hoping that the noise issue is resolved to fully enjoy the comfortable and welcoming environment this hostel provides.

Best guest house i have ever stayed. Very beautiful and clean ryokan. Public indoor onsen is quite big. Private onsens are rather small,no extra charge incurred. Highly recommend!!

I really wanted to stay in an ryokan and onsen in Japan, and this place was so perfect for such a good price. Most go for $120+ and this was $20 for a dorm bed ryokan (and I was 1 of 2 in the dorm bed). I loved the entire experience. Free coffee and tea, amazing space for digital nomads too. The staff was so, so friendly. Ito is a beautiful place and I would highly recommend.

A very nice hostel in the middle of the small but picturesque town of Ito. The hostel has a nice sento and the living room are is large and faces the beautiful riverside. We bought some local groceries at the supermarket, which was around 10 min away, and cooked some nabe (hot pot) in the kitchen area. The building is old but well kept, the tatami rooms were comfortable (you sleep on the futon on the floor, it's not the western style bed that we stayed, since it was the cheapest shared room). The hostel is also located next to the beach area, which is great if you wanna go for a swim during summertimes. Some people were also finishing at the pier. You can take the bus and it takes you to hiking locations as well. Overwall, this was a small but wonderful town to come to visit. Check the calendar for local festival events.

This is a beautiful place to stay! The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. Spacious room for 5 people and very clean. They provide you with a full futon and it was comfy enough! Lovely view from the room! The walls are a little thin, but they provide earplugs which I thought was very considerate and thin walls are common in older Japanese-style buildings. The onsen is lovely! 24 hours AND tattoo-friendly! As a heavily tattooed person, I very much appreciated that. Would definitely stay again!

We had a traditional Family room with a tatami floor, futons and a great view of the river. Everything was nice and clean, especially the hot baths, both public and private. Would recommend if you want to try a traditional Japanese stay

The staff was so friendly, they really helped us a lot by booking tickets, restaurants, etc. they made our trip so much easier. The hostel is in an old house, it’s very traditional, which we really liked. Our room with the private balcony was great, it was really relaxing to just sit out there and watch the river which flows by the hotel. They have very nice common areas too, the hostel has a lot to offer.

This 300 year old building is beautifully imperfect. The onsen is cleaned daily and taken great care of by the incredible staff! Thank you Yukio, Marta, Dorna and the rest of the staff for doing such an amazing and hospitable job :)

Loved our stay - we opted for the room with shower and toilet as travelling with our 3yo and it was great. The view from the balcony over the river was worth the price alone! Loved sleeping on futons together. The noise is very obvious and a little stressful trying to keep your child quiet 🫠 It was too hot to really enjoy the onsen but great that it's there and we enjoyed the experience of a quick soak together. Can highly recommend staying here.... I'd say it's good enough reason to come to Itō!!

Warmly recommended location for staying in Ito. Great price-value ratio Pro: - Private and public Onsen available for free inside K's hostel. Nothing fancy but will do the job each day. - House got a long history, looks amazing and gives you the chance of diving into former eras - Fluent English skills of the staff - Great location, not far away from train station, bus stops and directly in the heart of the city with a lots of restaurants and bars - Clean, save and fairly priced

This is going to be the best hostel I have stayed at, short walking distance to the station, food and convenience store nearby, onsite 24/7 onsen (apart from the midday maintenance period) and friendly staff. Under ¥4000 per night in a shared room. You do need to keep in mind that this is a traditional Japanese building (everything shakes and moved, basically no walls), personal it adds to the experience, and they do provide earplugs in the room. You have free towers provided, ac in room, no curfew, nice kitchen area, ¥500 for laundry (washer, dryer, wash basket, detergent and a massive common area)

Fantastic Ryokan in a great location with all amenities on site. Lovely furnishings and lounge area looking out onto river. Very helpful friendly and welcoming staff. Room was superb. Great onsen on site .Had a wonderful Shiatsu massage on site as well. Restaurant recommendations all printed and mapped and staff helped with anything we asked of them , English speaking which was really great. Highly recommend a stay here when in Ito.

Loved this place so much. Old architecture, which is kind of creeky and loud to slide the doors open and squeaky floorboards, but that's to be expected for a hundred year old wooden building. The guests were kind and quiet. Free earplugs, Yuukata for 200 yen was very comfy. The futons are very comfy as well. Onsen was super comfortable. Front desk spoke very good English. This ryokan and local area made me fall in love with Ito and I will definitely spend a couple days in a private room and explore the town more next trip. Only a 10 minute walk or so down a nice covered shopping street to the station. The train ride from Atami was gorgeous along the sea side. Great destination.

Hiiiighly recommend. I am so pleased we decided to stay here. We went for the Japanese style room (myself, partner and baby) with the private ensuite. It was so spacious and we had a lovely indoor balcony bit where we could sit and chat when our bubs was napping. The location is incredible. Very short walk from the station and had two delicious restaurants at the bottom of the street to the right when you exit K house. They provide coffee made at 7am each day and also tea. Kitchen is well equipped and tidy. We didn't spend time in the communal areas / Onsen but had a look and they both looked great. We've even tried to see if we can stay at others for our travels but they're booked out which I'm not surprised at. Thanks so much for our stay.

I can't explain enough how much I loved K's House Ito Onsen, the vibe so was relaxed and chilled out I had to return after my first stay there. The private onsens are great for a morning/evening soak by yourself, and the public Onsen is a bit warmer but still very nice. A definite must for me again on my return trip to Japan, will be looking to stay for the better part of a week just to chill out and relax!

great location, tattoo friendly onsen. Two private and a public bath. Comfortable mats and a very large building! Laundry machines and kitchen available with plenty of seating if you want some privacy

This is a very special building. If you travel to Japan, it is definitely not a wrong choice to experience it once. The public areas are very comfortable, and the staff are very considerate and caring. We forgot something in the room and they helped us immediately. The location is also very convenient, only a five-minute walk from the rail transit.

AWESOME! Beautiful Japanese old-time building for housing, with relaxing hotsprings. The hotsprings were not very hot, which allowed me to bathe long inside. The domitory room was designed for four people, but only two were staying, presumably due to the Covid-19 arrangement. Common rooms, kitchen, hall, and corridors were all well-cleaned. In addition, the staff recommented a bar near by and it served one of the best tuna sushis (TORO) I have ever eaten. The water of the private bath was not warm enough, which was the only dissapointment. Overall, I would say it was a great stay for me and I highly recomment it. Thank you!!

No noise protection, which is understandable given history of building. But hostel didn’t care about noise coming from a guest group shouting and singing through the night. They should’ve done something to protect other guest’s rights for comfort and relaxation.

Impeccable building, excellent amenities, amazing onsen, exceptional atmosphere and outstanding staff. 100%, perfect experience 10/10, S+++, 完璧なホステル, 一番. I'll definitely come back! Update: I came back again twice in 2022. Definitely still as amazing as my first time.

Beautiful onsen, with fantastic rooms, and lovely calm atmosphere. Cannot recommend highly enough.

A very reasonably priced stay. Reasons to consider staying at this place is their reasonable price, short walk to Orange beach, indoor onsen, river side view from rooms. They also offer discounted price for outdoor onsen. Although it is a Japanese style hostel akin Ryoukan, the common facilities are very well maintained. The kitchen is very neat and hygienic. Living rooms are more in number. Paid laundry service available. If you have not been to a traditional and ancient Japanese places this is your place to go. Although a slight disadvantage is that even slightest of noise from your neighbors is audible.

It was a wonderful experience to stay in a quaint traditional house. There are good pubs around, and the streets are very nice and emotional.

Great ! It feels like a Ryokan but affordable. All the equipment is great. Especially the onsen baths. The common area as well as the room are very clean and comfortable. The view on the river is amazing. Staff is very nice and helpful. I recommend it warmly.

  • 5/5 Kai C. 2 years ago on Google
Very aesthetically pleasing and comfortable building with a great communal lounge, tv room and a good view of the river. Shared rooms and private rooms are both very nice and although rooms facing thee river are almost double the price of rooms facing the street the river and balcony is probably worth it. The onsen is also great - super hot - but great. There is also a full kitchen you can use. Only real downsides of a place like this is noise as the walls are quite thin so if you have rowdy neighbors you will probably hear them - not much can be done about it though as the building is a traditional design and paper doors/walls is a feature :). They do provide earplugs if things are too loud for you.

K's House was the prefect stay for our trip! This place has a traditional Japanese feel with tatami mat floors, futon beds, and the onsen. It was a wonderful and unique experience and several people in my party expressed a desire to stay here again. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and spoke English. It was a convenient 10 minute walk to the station, the beach, and was located right on the riverside. It couldn't have been more perfect!
