Wonderful place. I Loved it. It's a place to visit with kids and family and have some family time. The cathedral in s too good. Wonderful prayers in church. Apart for me that the park is very near. And is a really family time spending park. I had a great time. Though I was alone. It has many things to engage kids and keep them playful . Lots of horses, horse carts, cars, remote played cars, trains etc...to say a few. Also is the flowers which make this place more beautiful it's full of different coloured tulips . Also the park near where the attractions makes it icing on the cake. Have a family time on weekend with you loved ones . And also give the time for prayers. Amen

The experience was so different ...we witnessed a wedding ceremony which was very different from what we usually see in movies ...it was amazing ... The place is very peaceful and very colourful. It's good if you visit the cathedral in evening because then you can enjoy in the park also... Have a safe journey 💓 Love love

Beautiful place outside and inside, it is one of an oldest wood built cathedrals. So many details and has two old fireplaces, it’s so rare. Very quiet and so spiritual. It is hard to explain emotions, just visit it and you will see.

Beautiful church. The location is just amazing. There are activities that can be done outside like ice skating, drink coffee, have something to eat and because the park is there, can take a stroll in the park as well.

Must Visit a place of Orthodox Russian Cathedral. There is not any entry fee. You must bring kids for enjoy and they can play with pigeons and other activities. Park is very peace and calm. Spend a good time there. You can reach there by public transport and very near to Green Bazar. Some good hostels are very near e.g Wanderlust and many. Horse Cart ride is expensive, i will recommend to do it. From this place you can get bus for any place of Almaty. In night Cathedral looks more beautiful. You should visit in the night also once. Many young boys and girls plays volleyball also there. I asked them to join me , they happily agreed and I enjoyed to play and their company. People are very humble and cooperative. You can see small kids running scooters and skit board. Very happy and cherish atmosphere there all the time. Its open till late night because it’s the way inside the cathedral to connect Green Bazar road and University road. Many students you can find here e.g. Chinese, Mongolian, Russian and Indian. I started my Kazakhstan city tour from 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park which is in the middle of Almaty. The park is free to visit at any time of the day. These heroes protected Moscow during World War II, showing Kazakhstan's strong spirit. If you walk a little further you will spot the Zenkov Cathedral with bright yellow and fancy details. It's a colorful masterpiece made of wood. This is one of the most beautiful Orthodox churches I’ve ever seen and probably the prettiest building you can find in Almaty! What’s even more fascinating is the fact that it was built with no nails and is the second tallest wooden building in the world, with a height of 56 meters! The cathedral was finished in 1907 and recently it went through a renovation process to shine more than ever. Best time to come is during evening hours. You will find few activities that kids may love. They also have plenty of seats for you to sit and have some time for yourself and to breathe in the fresh air.

This Cathedral wad amazing with it architecture and the spritual serenity. This place is situated in a quite environment and provides you with a meditative space. The time we visited this place it was almost empty. The staff here are very friendly and you can use Google translate to communicate with them.

An amazing building, both architecturally and the internal icons. The chanting inside was also beautiful creating a very spiritual ambiance. I have been before and will return again.

Words cannot explain beauties of this place and the very spiritual sense that accompanies you throughout the visit with its divine aroma and lights. Just note that I am talking from a non-Christianpoint of view!. Zenkov is an orthodox cathedral with history. People enter with high respect to say their prayers. It is open to public though. It's full of magnificient paintings and statues. Certainly give it a try. It's located in the middle of a huge spectacular park. You can plan to see other places around the park as well on the same visit.

Beautiful cathedral in Almaty located right in the centre of town. It’s a very colourful building that is worth a visit. It’s also close to a lot of other landmarks and restaurants, and there is a tourist information desk right next to it which has a lot of recommendations for things to do.

Must visit place if visiting Almaty. Inside of cathedral is awesome. No photography allowed. It's in center of park area.
