🫤 If you are natural, and intend to stay natural, do not go to this salon. I went for a press and trim. Every thing was going great until she started flat ironing my hair. She parted the first section of my hair and passed the flat iron about 5 times and then walked off. I was left sitting in the chai... People often mention hair, Dorinda,

If you are natural, and intend to stay natural, do not go to this salon. I went for a press and trim. Every thing was going great until she started flat ironing my hair. She parted the first section of my hair and passed the flat iron about 5 times and then walked off. I was left sitting in the chair for about 30 minutes before she returned. She then proceeded to tell me it was due to the fact that my hair wasn’t heat trained, of course because I’m a true natural. This was not my first blowout and I’ve never had a stylist do this. The style was cute and it was bouncy and shiny. But today, after having my hair straight for 2 weeks. My curl pattern will not return. I’ve deep conditioned and used a protein treatment and some pieces are still straight. $70 is the price you pay to have your hair ruined??

I had gone to this salon a couple times before and I always had to wit at least 20 minutes before being assisted. My last appointment with Dorinda was a terrible experience. I have very course hair which I guess posed a challenge for her. She became frustrated and basically told me that she didn't have to time or energy to do my hair (this is in the middle of doing my hair) and stopped the service. Another stylist finished me and I was very grateful for that and she did a nice job. The fact that the owner threw a tantrum and passed me off to someone else was very off-putting and unprofessional. Also I will say that if you love your natural hair and go back and forth between straight and curly, don't expect for your curls to revert back. Their process and heat used damages the hair and your curls will be lost forever (unless you cut again). I'm sure many others had positive experiences, but that is mine.

I came in and asked for a ponytail. The owner of the shop was very confused on how to do my hair which is natural, of course. She had another person doing my hair and she didn’t know what she was doing. Also, the owner mentioned to me that she doesn’t braid which is confusing because you’re a cosmetologist. The experience wasn’t that great! I didn’t feel welcomed nor did my boyfriend whom just wanted to come in and sit down with me.

I was recommended to this salon after carefully deciding who to go by. However, it was a HORRIBLE experience. I really wish I read her reviews before going to her. She was demeaning the whole time while I was getting my hair relaxed. Her attitude was very unprofessional. She was obviously not fond with me getting a relaxer. Also coming from the hairstylist and owner herself, it was so demeaning to be asked where I was from I guess because of my Caribbean accent then she replied to “So.., you’re black”. Like obviously I am! But what are you really trying to say? She also laughed at my face when she asked me if I liked my hair relaxed. When she asked me who recommended me she quickly changed her attitude and started commenting how “ beautiful” my hair is. What a fake! I am never going there again. That being said, if you’re going to get a perm prepare for the judgment and demeaning treatment from Dorinda.

I have been with Dorinda and Ambiance Hair Salon for over 16 years. Dorinda gives me the hair that God left out. She listens carefully and educates me about the best way to care for my hair. I would never ever trust anyone else. The atmosphere in her salon is always upbeat and friendly. Everyone speaks to everyone. She won’t let you down!

Dorinda was amazing! My hair was so damaged and she really made me feel great again. Condition trim & silk press. I’ll definitely be back again! Prices are decent too.
