BED BUGS!! Even though location is good and price is attractive.. they have BED BUGS. I woke with itches and after inspecting the beds/lockers found an infestation of bed bugs in all the beds in the dorm. Mature adults to eggs. Disgusting. I showed the staff who were freaked out and they closed the dorm for cleaning/fumigation and gave me back my money but told me I had leave the hostel. Though they did wash and dry all my clothes first. But with bed bug experience.. if their in one dorm, there in all of them. And people go from from beds to the couches/common areas.. eww. Go at own risk, or if you find bringing bed bugs home appealing.

This hostel was not good, it was just fine. It has a lounge area, well located, kitchen, 24 hr reception, lockers in rooms (bring your own key). But the #1 problem for me is the beds. They are a disaster. The springs in the mattresses stick into you. They shake at the slightest movement of your neighbor. And in the 4 person room, the beds are connected, meaning the smallest movement of any of the 3 other people will rock you in your bed. Importantly, you need to make your own bed. That is a huge hassle, uncomfortable, considering you'd think that service was included in the price. But also, that means that at 1am when your neighbor is struggling to make their bed on the top bunk you will be kept awake as they struggle, shaking around in your bed. The sound from the window can also be a factor on nights when people are talking until late in front, but that is normal hostel stuff. Also it's a bit dirty. The bathrooms are small, everything wet. And some kids come to party and might be a bit problematic, might annoy you, be loud, throw up, etc: in the photo, there are two kids who stayed over, passed out on the couches drunk. Overall one night, two max is definitely fine for a normal hostel-person who is used to similar stuff.

FILTHY HOSTEL When we arrived the receptionist didn't show us our room nor the facilities even though we've seen other people having the tour of the hostel. The shared bathrooms were dirty and moldy (see photos). You have to make your bed which is OK but then you can see the amount of stain on the beds and mattresses. The stains were also on the walls and there were spiderwebs everywhere. At the end of the hall there was a stash of utility supplies, bed linen and extra matrasses just lying on the ground. Overall the hostel seemed filthy. Also we were waking up itchy, with bites might be mosquitos but the atmosphere makes you think about bed bugs. After our complaint to hostelworld we've noticed the staff was cleaning very frequently which made the stay better. I’m sure keeping a big hostel clean is hard job but it is the hostel’s main job and the price isn’t that low to close our eyes and let it be. Probably the worst hostel experience in Europe so far. OK for one night sleepovers or very party people but not for longer stays.

I didn’t get any sleep at this hostel, and not in the fun way. We booked a private room and they put us next to the noisiest part of the hostel. Since there was not air conditioning we had to keep the window open so the damp air and the noise poured in. Furthermore, the beds were slanted and the mattress topper slid off of the bed during the night as we slept. Also, lock was not working correctly and we had several people barge in on without knocking us during our stay. The place generally looks like a fun place, but we had an awful experience.

Date of stay: 26-30/07/2023 Modest little hostel. Situated in the old town, the rooms and the overall infrastructure of the hostel are quite obsolete, but the bathrooms are pretty decent, so is the little bar where the reception is. The common area is pretty nice too, with a soccer table available to use, as well as not one but two kitchens. The staff are pretty cool as well, except for this young Italian guy who works there, he is a bit of a put0 😏. Tallin is a place I most likely wouldn’t visit again but if it’s your first time visiting, then I’d recommend it no less

Great staff and management, they really make you feel welcome, clean rooms, very central location, the staff are really knowledgeable about Tallinn and travellers from all over the world stay here. There is a real sense of community and you will get asked on a daily basis, if you want to join others for the day, whether it be the beach, a stroll or to go out for food or drinks. Thanks for the pub crawl Lars! They have a great bar too, best hostel I've stayed in so far 😁👌

You get what you pay for. No breakfast, tea or coffee. Beds are uncomfortable, there are no curtains in the huge Windows, so light comes in really early and you have to make your own bed. They charge for everything. Guess anything, yes! There are better options in the same area / price range.

What a disappointment this hostel was. We had booked a private room which was very worn and basic within a separate part of the hostel. Even though there was a quite time period throughout the hostel from 11pm, this was not managed at all making it difficult to sleep even within a private room.

A great value hostel with friendly staff. The toilets and bathrooms are clean and modern, and the rooms are tidy, with spacious under-bed lockers and plug sockets. The building as a whole is a little tattered, but it's in a good location.

Nice location in the middle of the old town, in an old building, friendly service, very cool guests. Perfect to stay in the City and find something/someone to party or even just for sightseeing.

I stayed here for 3 nights and was totally satisfied. The price was low, the location is great, the staff was friendly, and the beds were comfortable. Each bed in my room had a locker and power outlet, and reception/the bar is open 24/7. I would recommend this place to any travelers going through Tallinn who don't mind staying in shared dorms.

Location is excellent, as is the price. Some area's for improvement: - Beers as much as 4.50 euros. This is expensive for your market - backpackers. Even by Tallin standards. Cheaper prices on beers (and spirits etc) would encourage people to drink more on-site, I imagine. Perhaps even a happy hour? - Some general maintainence would be good. Lots of the plug sockets in the lounge area not working. In my room (large dorm) only one locker actually worked. Bathrooms and toliets were clean enough and the vibe was good so I would return.

Just an okey hostel, rooms are not particularly comfortable, location is good but problematic to bring rolling luggage, kitchen is quite small for the amount of rooms. Staff is ok also but not really friendly, I would just go again if it's the cheapest available

The hostel is adequate. The building is winding and interesting in its construction, and the common area has a foosball table and TV. It is not the cleanest hostel, however. The bathrooms were sometimes in a less than clean state (clogged drains or gross toilets). The pillows were also stained and gave a kind of gross impression. There was also a particular crowd at the hostel. The front door is unlocked, and Lai 22 is both a bar and hostel, so I do not know if they were all staying at there as travelers, but there were many middle aged men with a certain air about them. That might be your thing, or it might not. For four women in college, it was not ideal.

Cheap and cheerful, well located. I had a private room for three nights over a weekend and was able to sleep well. Good community feel, it's easy to make friends here. Kitchen has everything you need, and there's several 'chill out' areas

Great little hostel right in the old town, young volunteers who were running this place when I stayed were fantastic, I'd stay again 😃

This hostel is aimed at younger travellers and people who want to party. They have a bar and a nice are to socialise and meet people. However, this means that things get quite loud and this place might not be the best for someone who wants to relax. Staff could however take their job a bit more seriously and treat drunk guests more professionaly.

I don't have a lot of hostel experience but this was quite a good hostel located in Tallinn's oldtown which is a huge plus. The bed was good, they have a small bar inside and you get what you pay for.

Pros: Amazing, central location - 5 min walk to Viru Gate, Telleviski, Fotografiska and many restaurants. The building is old and charming, really inviting. Cons: Cleanliness - there were brown stains on my blanket cover, the shower walls and crusty brown stains from previous guests on the wall by my pillow. Staff weren't rude but weren't friendly either. No information when we checked in, we had to ask for everything and ask other guests about laundry, etc.

Reception is helpful and kind. The 14-share room was good (for what it is). The bar at the hostel is very cheap, especially during happy hour which is 7pm to 9pm. The hostel organises regular events for the guests, which I thought was a great touch to help everyone socialise! The kitchen facilities were often a bit dirty, but did eventually get cleaned. Bathrooms and showers were plentiful and usually clean. Can highly recommend if visiting Tallinn on a budget!!

Very good location. An old, cool building and 24/7 reception service. Baran the reception attender was super cool. He helped me a lot and gave me so much information about the city of Tallinn. I enjoyed my during staying. Rooms and bunks needs some improvements. Other was it was a lovely hostel.

I would highly recommend this place for backpackers and solo travelers. The bed was comfy, provided with clean linens, the showers and toilets were extremely clean, and the staff are kind. Not to mention the incredible location, in the middle of the old town! Also, the building is listed in the UNESCO world heritage site, which makes the stay even more enticing.

I had an amazing stay in the Monk’s Bunk Hostel. The staff was very helpful and nice. What I liked is that they offer laundry service. Also it is located right in the old center, which is optimal.

Absolutely reasonable for the price! I mean the house is a little bit older and not luxurious at all but it’s definitely clean, you got everything you need, including a staff that tries to help you at any time. The location is insanely good, not far from the bus station where you can go directly to the airport. Beer is cheap. Its got a kitchen and 24h reception. Sometimes people are a lot on their phones and maybe not the beeest atmosphere compared to other hostels but I got so much more than I expected for 10€ a night. Would recommand!!

It’s in the middle of the old town which is a super location. The rooms are spacious, beda are comfy. The kitchen has what it takes to cook ur meals and there is a small space to work but the lighting is dim. There is a mini bar to enjoy some drinks and a living room style to sit and socialize. It’s a small hostel, cozy, but what i did not like at all is the smell! There is a smell in the bedroom and around when they close all doors. The smell looks more from old walls style. If you have a luggage, it’s better to keep it downstairs or carry it all the way up. I think it’s pricy for such a hostel.

The room was very cold and the heating wasn't working. At least they found me an extra blanket. The place doesn't feel safe as there are shady people all over, possible living there/or maybe not. Great location.

We booked 3 beds in a mixed 4-bedroom. After the check-in we went with one of the guys from the reception to the first floor to show us our room. When we entered, different drugs were on the small shelf and also only two beds were prepared, the situation was a Little bit weird. The room was small but enough, the beds were quite ok. We were a little bit disappointed about the service, because we had the impression, that most of the people were not really amused about our appearance. The older guy of the hostel was really nice. The bathrooms were ok and the location is really nice, because it is really in the city center.

Good place in the old town to stay for a night or two, but it can be noisy and common spaces are not very clean

  • 4/5 Michael D. 2 years ago on Google
Yeah about price is right with friendly service. Shared rooms but pretty clean for what they are.

  • 2/5 Tanaro S. 1 year ago on Google
The atmosphere is great, the common rooms are cosy and the bathrooms are very clean. The water contains clorine, which makes it undrinkable for me. The rooms are relatively spacy and clean. The mattress was terrible and the bed sheets were useless, since it crumbled easily every time one moved. The combination led to an entire day of back hurt and a very long sleepless night.

  • 1/5 Chris L. 2 years ago on Google
I booked a room and was told that the room was not actually available for the next night of my 2 night booking. I tried to resolve this with the hostel and they wanted to put me into the next door property which has issues with black mold and that I would not be able to keep the towel which i had rented from the original hostel. Overall the customer service was terrible and not able to fix basic issues that arise from running a hostel. Also its a party hostel with groups coming on their vacation and yelling in the halls late at night. Staff was not able to enforce their own property rules and kick them out.

  • 4/5 Tural K. 1 year ago on Google
Location and price is the main advantage of staying here. If sharing your room with other people is okey, then not a big problem. Overall, atmosphere is cool there.

Great location but some clown decided to not give back his keys so I didn't get a key to my room until two days into my stay

Really nice hostel. Great atmosphere to be social with other travelers! It has a kitchen, luggage room, showers, bathrooms, bar, courtyard and a good room with couches for chilling!

Stayed here for a single night in a private room, which was pretty basic. There was a bit of evening noise but nothing annoying. There's a bar which was open pretty late and sold beers at ok prices (€4 for 0,5l Stella). It seemed that you could meet some people here relatively easily in the common room, though there are many seperate common rooms connected like a rabbit hole. Atmosphere seemed nice. Male receptionist was kind and helpful, female receptionist a bit slow. Location of the place was quite good.

  • 5/5 Fay G. 1 year ago on Google
Loved the volunteers there! They make the experience a lot more special! Central location and clean rooms! -Ill come back, hopefully as a volunteer one day!-

  • 5/5 Beatrice P. 2 years ago on Google
Stayed here alone for two nights in 6 female dorm. I had 3 roommates but there was plenty of space for everyone. Pros: safe, lots of common area space, fully equipped kitchen, plug over each bed, large locker for each bed, nice staff, ideal location Cons: a little bit cold in the common areas, noise from street at night Would book it again for next time!
