Similar to what other reviews said, the doctor is amazing and kind but the receptionists are grossly rude. None of the receptionists are polite and they verbally attack you to the point where I almost cried. Horrendous service. If you want to be bullied and experience literal torture, this is the place to go! If anybody that works at the clinic is reading this, the current receptionists need a reality check of how to treat others with respect! SERIOUSLY THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING

I read the reviews and they were funny ? Had similar impressions at first but our family has come to love the doctors, nurses and the receptionists in bluff clinic. I appreciate the receptionists for who they are and their contribution to taking good care of my family. I chuckle every time the receptionists have a “moment” with myself or other patients as it is sort of what makes this clinic special and enjoyable. Keep it up receptionist, and thank you bluff clinic for all the work you’ve done to keep my family and children alive.

(Translated by Google) worst. Received medical checkup. First of all, I imply that if you have a passport, you will not be able to receive medical treatment because there is nothing unnecessary originally. I heard the Babaa of a station that was looming deeply behind the counter, and spoke English, but the pronunciation was the worst again. He was forced to call for confirmation, but was banished from the phone. It takes too much time to leave home with an attendant, but he is recalled as "signature required". Extremely, bring important documents back in the envelope even if it's raining. As the name implies, the worst clinic.

(Translated by Google) Other people have written, but I think that it is a wonderful hospital if there is no BBA station called Kiyomi at the reception. That woman is nothing more than a nuisance. Don't feel sorry for other reception staff. Both doctors were wonderful without any complaints, but they had to visit many times due to the lack of flu vaccination receipts to submit to the company. I repeatedly said that I had been vaccinated against influenza and needed a seal, but I ended up doing the proviso myself.

I’ve been going to this clinic for almost three years now. I’ve had no issues with the doctors. However, like the other reviewers have said, the receptionist is incredibly rude. Once I overslept and called to explain the situation, and she said continued on yelling at me about how she couldn’t believe that I couldn’t wake up, and that they called me several times throughout the week so that I wouldn’t “forget.” When I had a problem with my japanese health insurance two years ago, she yelled at me in the office so badly that I almost started crying. The last time I spoke to her, I told her how rude I thought she was and she just casually answered, “sorry ne.” Avoid this place, you can find the same quality of service without the verbal attacks at other clinics.

The mission of the clinic is to provide quality medical and dental care to the community, both foreign residents and Japanese. I've used this medical and dental clinic in numerous occasions. I read complaints of other clients concerning English proficiency, and wanted to leave my thoughts. Although, awareness of English proficiency is comparably higher in Japan than other advanced countries, fluency has always been a huge challenge. Majority of Japanese still feel intimidated not only to speak the language, but also towards culture interactions with foreigners. I feel fortunate that I had Bluff Clinic. The clinic is highly committed to providing a better end of the language capability than majority of other clinics would. It's not easy to find similar care in other countries of the world. I ask other contributors to think twice before posting negative comments. What if someone was in medical trouble in your community, would your community have similar help with Japanese language to offer? I strongly question that you would be able to say YES. Let's look at the big picture and stop being ignorant about how blessed we are to have The Bluff Clinic in our community. Two thumbs up to all who make Bluff Clinic happen. I appreciate your continuous dedication to our community.

(Translated by Google) I do not recommend it much. First of all the atmosphere is not very good. Especially receptionist is the worst. Even if we talk about the symptoms, we finished it unless we know by simple palpation or physical examination. The teacher was not able to feel motivation so much, and I got impression that he was just doing it. I wish I had not gone.

UNWELCOMING RECEPTIONIST: My friend recommends this clinic so I called this morning to book an appointment. A woman took the call was not welcoming over the phone. I was trying to ask if the clinic has availabilities in the afternoon and answered me “fully booked” in a non welcoming tone and asked me if I could come at 11pm instead. I get it that the clinic may be fully booked but there is always a nice way to treat people right over the phone. This is not a great customer experience!

Doctor Akashi and Doctor Kubota are very professional, friendly, nice and accommodating. They are very good doctors and was very satisfied with check ups/appointments. Nurses are also friendly and nice and alert. They will instruct/assist you politely on what to do. The clinic is very accessible to the station. < ~7mins walk>, old but clean and tidy. Receptionists are just okay. Intimidating I guess… Not the nicest, but not unpleasant and not rude. But they’re always helpful to assist you like calling a cab. Everyone can speak english, its really a foreign friendly clinic. :)

I’ve visited this clinic (both dentist and medical doctor) for myself and my children check-up several times during the year we lived in Yokohama. For the dentist, he is very good both in his profession and communication; however he has left and opened his own clinic near Yokohama station). For the medical doctor, he is also very good and helpful. But I fully agree with some of the other review stated, the receptionst are unpleasant. Stangely all of them have similar attitude. Let people feel cold, unwelcoming, hard tone, rude, and not service-minded at all. Probably this clinic appears to be the only one who have English service medication treatment in this area. They get no competitors. If there is other alternative in close, I would choose that instead.

RECEPTIONIST IS UTTERLY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL I Speak Japanese and never felt the need to go to a English speaking clinic. I had never visited this Clinic, and never read the reviews here about the rude behavior of the receptionist posted by numerous visitors of the Clinic. Now, let me give you few instances about how rude the Receptionist is: 1. I once went to the Clinic to pickup medicine on behalf of my friend. Within those 10 mins while I was there, the receptionist was rude and inappropriate comment in Japanese to non-Japanese lady who did not have enough cash (she was short few hundred yen) and requested to pay next time. The patient lady obviously did not speak Japanese and could not understand what she said, but I did. 2. When my friend asked about their closing time to pickup the medicine, the Receptionist replied very rudely and said "4:45, don't be late !". 3. At another instance, once when my friend was waiting for the doctor, for 20 mins, my friend asked if the doctor is busy, the receptionist again as usual replied very rudely in high pitch tone "Just wait here, we will call you". Now, after picking up the medicine I wanted to write a rate and review on Google, I found out that there were already numerous reviews posted by people about similar experience as mine, and I could 100% agree to each one of those reviews as I personally experienced them. In my opinion, usually, a receptionist is someone who is a Front end of any establishment who meets and greets people and then connects them to the concerned department, doctor, etc. But the Receptionist at this Clinic is complete opposite and treats the visitors/patients as if they are here for without appointment and not paying fees. She is grossly rude, makes inappropriate comments, unprofessional and kind of harasses people verbally. She needs to understand that people who visit the Clinic are not just people but someone who are sick and need medical consultation and need to be taken care of politely as they are already in pain and distress. But what she does is the complete opposite, instead of politeness and care, she gives them more mental and verbal harassment, unwelcoming and rude behavior. Now, many people here have tried to justified her misbehavior saying that English is her second language and also she comes across people throughout the day causing her stress. So, let me tell you that the Clinic boasts as as English language Clinic for foreigners, so one can expect them to speak and understand English. And even if she doesn't have good English then at least she can use a little POLITENESS in whatever she knows. As far as I have heard her English, there is nothing wrong with her English language skills, its just her attitude. Even Japanese people who went to the clinic or interacted with her have complained about her misbehavior. You can go through those google translated reviews written in Japanese. I have been working in Japan for 4 years know and I know at at least how Japanese people speak English. Most of colleagues are Japanese and hardly speak English but they are never rude and impolite like her. Living in Japan for almost 4 years now, I personally feel that there is no match to Japan's remarkable hospitality and polite behavior. Wherever you go, the Japanese service staff makes you feel important and valuable, And I am obliged to that and often brag about to my family and friends. But this Clinic is complete opposite of what Japan is know for. The receptionist just destroys that image of Japan with her IMPOLITE, UNCOURTEOUS, UNPLEASANT and ILL-MANNERED. My friend has already stopped going there, and I have read the reviews where numerous people have done so. And they all made the right call. This place is TOXIC, UNPROFESSIONAL and VERBALLY ABUSIVE. I think they are already aware of her attitude, but still have not done anything jus because they think that they have not much competition and can have a monopoly. There are other heaps of English speaking Clinics around Tokyo and Yokohama. Go there and AVOID BLUFF CLINIC !!!!

I can't comment fully on the dentist as I've yet to visit him, however I have visited the doctor who has been very good every time I've visited. On a side note, I have received positive comments about the Dentist and I am planning to visit him soon. The reason I haven't given the Clinic 5 Stars is over the area of Customer Service. I have found certain members of the Reception staff to be quite rude both face to face and over the phone. They appear to have missed out on the aspect of Customer Service Training which deals with being polite & respectful to their patients. Despite this, I will probably continue to visit because of the skill and kindness of the doctor and the Clinics Location. I just wish the Customer Service was on the same level.

Highly recommend Bluff clinic. Friendly staff and I greatly appreciate Dr. Akashi’s expertise and kindness to my family everything time we visit. Regarding the reviews of the staff, learning a second language is not an easy feat. You have to realize most people will come across unnatural and aloof. My family has experienced this in the beginning at Bluff Clinic but took the time to get to know each of the staff and came to realization that they are extremely caring and compassionate.

Dr. Akashi has been my GP for over 30 years. I also see him for second opinions about other medical issues. He’s beyond professional. He truly cares about the patients as individuals as well and takes time to explain things. I’ve got the utmost respect for him. The receptionists deal with people from all over the world. Even native speakers need time to adjust to other people’s particular way of speaking. Please be understanding of the fact that on any given day, they they are dealing with unfamiliar people and accents, with a variety of circumstances, and a variety of medical conditions. It’s somewhat of a stressful situation for them as well as yourself.

The five stars are for the doctor. 0 or minus 5 stars for the English speaking receptionist who is extremely rude. It was my toddler's first time to the clinic. When I showed her the free medical care certificate for children after seeing the doctor, she said, "You SHOULD have showed it BEFORE seeing the doctor!" I wanted to explain that at the hospital that we usually go to, we produce this certificate after seeing the doctor. Also, when we arrived at the clinic, the receptionist didn't ask for it. She only asked for the health insurance card. This certificate is quite common for toddlers and babies, so I think the receptionists should have asked for it together with the health insurance card, or at least tell us nicely that we have to show it before seeing the doc next time. Before I left, she re-emphasized this point rudely by saying, "Next time, SHOW us this document BEFORE seeing the doc!". I didn't want to make a fuss there because it's not easy to find a clinic with English support.

I read some of the negative comments here, and they don’t at all match my experience. The staff were perfectly normal, honest, direct, and most of all kind-hearted to me, just the way you would want medical professionals to be. If you want some phony over-the-top subservient customer service, then you might want to try elsewhere. But if you want normal caring humans, this is a fine choice.

First of all, no problem with the receptionist. They are professionals. I don't find them rude. If their english is not perfect you have to respect that. The Doctors there speak fluent English, or Tagalog for those Filipinos who need a medical consultation or whatever, and that's what matters most. I will still choose The Bluff the next time I need to visit a Doctor.

Dr. Akashi is an amazing doctor. I lived in Yokohama for almost 20 years, and Dr. Akashi always made time for my family, even when he was busy. I remember that one evening I got very ill. I called the clinic. He was on his way to dinner with family, but he made sure that I was okay. In addition, my son had been ill a few times, and he always made sure that my son felt safe and comfortable. When we left Japan, we took our PCR tests at Bluff Clinic, and as we left the clinic, my son said that he would always remember Dr. Akashi as the best and kindest doctor. Thank you so much, Dr. Akashi, for taking care of my family while we were living in Yokohama. Thank you also to the staff and nurses who were always so kind to us.

I’ve been a LT patient of the Bluff Medical Clinic. Doctor Akashi rocks & is the main reason I commute from my home near Kamakura to Yokohama. Dr. Akashi is always polite, thorough & provides a high standard of medical care. Thank you kindly, Dr. Akashi. Unfortunately, and as many reviewers have correctly noted, there is one particularly odious receptionist working at this medical clinic. She is consistently rude, snarky & confrontational (makes mistakes & blames patients). I’ve experienced multiple run-ins with her (both via email & face-to-face) over many years. Since Japan introduced telemedicine, I’ve managed to email Dr. Akashi every three months to obtain a prescription for my recurrent medication. Under Japanese medical law, patients are still required to have one annual face-to-face consultation. I visited the clinic today for this consultation. Prior to leaving, I politely asked a simple question re: future prescriptions. The receptionist snapped at me & said that the system had changed & that I would have to visit the clinic every few months to physically obtain my prescription. This was inconsistent with messaging from Dr. Akashi. The receptionist tried arguing with me before storming off to seek clarification from Dr. Akashi. After her return, she informed me that I could still receive the prescriptions via post (as before). She seemed genuinely annoyed by this - the impression being that it was more work for her to post it rather than any “system changes” as she had incorrectly & abruptly told me. No apology was offered. She was gruff as I farewelled the clinic. If one can avoid this particular receptionist, then all will be smooth sailing at this clinic. 5 stars for Dr. Akashi minus two stars due to the rude & unhelpful receptionist = 3 stars.

I went to the dentist here. Got check up: 8 teeth are bad and need to be fixed. As they had not enough time that day they fixed "the 2 worst teeth". In disbelief I called my dentist in germany after that appointment: how could he have not seen so many bad teeth 7 months before? His answer "your teeth were always in perfect condition. It is highly unlikely that 8 teeth went bad. You should consider getting a second opinion." So i went to next dentist: all teeth ok. Those 6 bad remaining teeth cannot be found. But two teeth are now already drilled! Maybe those two drilled teeth were bad, i can't say for sure. But it is highly likely that this all was made up and those two teeth were healthy as much as the 6 remaining "bad teeth" which still need "to be drilled" according to a woman disguised as a dentist who is working in this clinic. Be careful!

Great doctor but a receptionist perhaps in her late 20's or mid30's, long hair wearing glasses was just excruciatingly terrible. Terrible english-- could not understand a word she was saying but seems to think she's so fluent, her attitude was very stuck up and unprofessional, greatly brings down the image of such a great clinic.

This is my regular clinic and dental office. The doctor and dentist are both great and speak excellent English. You can book appointments online and even pick up your prescriptions there after your visit. My wife and I go for all our medical visits and dental work. We have referred several friends who also really loved the place. The pricing is the same as we saw at our local hospital where they didn't know English, very reasonable.

This place is so DISRESPECTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL, LACKS CUSTOMER SERVICE!! The first time I went one of the Receptionist had a very disrespectful and stink attitude. I overlooked it because I wanted to see the doctor. Anyways, fast forward to a day ago, I made an appointment via telephone which was CONFIRMED. When I went on the day of the appointment I was told that the clinic is closed. The message was relayed by the same doctor who I went to the previously time. He was very rude! I asked him to check because an appointment was made, he said he did (he didn't even move) and there was none. I wasted 2 hours of commuting! They behave like I am begging them to attend to me. I am paying my money! They need to learn to appreciate their customers. If they continue like this they will have none left. Distasteful!

Not only does the doctor speak English, the nurse and receptionists do as well. They're also very pleasant and friendly. It's not easy to take my blood, but the nurse got it on the second try. I've literally been stuck with needles 12 times before getting a successful draw in the past. Also, I needed a prescription, and they filled it in house. I'm somewhat new to Yokohama, so I super appreciate not needing to find a pharmacy. And the doctor saw me before my appointment time because I was early and he could. Even with an appointment I've often been seen late at other clinics, and I don't mind. Stuff happens. But super nice that I was actually finished before the time my appointment was even supposed to start. And online appointment reservations. Super easy.

My wife had some acute gastrointestinal issues and wanted to see a doctor after a few days of it not getting better. I called at 9am and they were able to squeeze us in at around 2pm the same day, on a sort-of standby whenever there was a gap between patients, even though they were fully booked. We arrived and registered and saw the doctor within 30 minutes. He listened to the problem and how it had developed over the days, did an assessment and then prescribed some drugs. The office was able to provide the drugs right there and we were on our way an hour after arriving. The reception staff spoke English well and calling in was easy as my Japanese is pretty poor. They were straight to business, which some other reviewers seem to take umbrage at, but perfectly polite to us. The doctor spoke English fluently and was easy to discuss the problems with. The consultation and prescriptions combined was ~¥7000. Very good value in my opinion.

First time here and it was very easy and perfectly on time. Everyone spoke to me in English and the receptionists handled my registration quickly. Dr Akashi listened to me and dispensed the medicine I needed on the spot, so no need to go anywhere. To get a refill I just need to make a call and no need for another appointment. Will continue to go here moving forward! Thanks!

Opposite experiences for me as a once regular visitor. Receptionists are fine and have treated me kindly, whereas the physician is ok some of the time. Yes, one shouldn't expect Western-like bedside manner in a non-Western country, but still find it a bit of a hypocrisy when said physician is supposedly a man of faith. The standoffishness comes and goes is the best way to describe it. Overall, so-so experience.

Have registered with both the Dental and Medical departments, and I’ve never had a single complaint. During my most recent visit, I asked for a last minute vaccination and they not only were able to accommodate, but they also helped me fill out Japanese forms and even offered to help schedule future vaccinations with Japanese speaking clinics. I think receptionists are very straightforward but I don’t think they’re rude at all.

Dr. Akashi is very knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. All of the staff members speak good English and are easy to communicate with. I have not personally received bad or unfriendly service from the receptionists however if that is a concern, The Bluff Clinic’s appointment booking system (on their website) is very easy and convenient to use. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this clinic and the services they offer.

This is an excellent health care facility offering medical and dental services in both English and Japanese. Dr. Akashi is also fluent in Tagalog. The receptionists and nursing staff are all very professional. The online system is very convenient for booking appointments. The calendar there will make it clear when the doctor is available for appointments. Upon booking, you will receive an email immediately confirming the booking. I was very surprised by some of the comments about "customer service". This is a medical clinic not a restaurant. They are prioritising the demands of the community not just the individual. The staff here are very hard-working and I have found them extremely patient when I have heard them dealing with the unreasonable demands of some patients. This clinic meets & even exceeds my expectations for a medical clinic.

Dr. Akashi was someone who helped me a lot in my almost 9 years in Japan. The dentist changed during my time receiving care here and I felt a bit uncomfortable.

That was the most relaxing teeth cleaning I ever had. No significant discomfort, no loud machinery. Despite the slight delay, the customer service was very good. Already booked another appointment.

I saw Dr Akashi several months ago for a full medical examination. He and his team did a great job at being thorough and making me feel comfortable along the way. He tailored his care to my health history and concerns. The office staff were friendly and I would totally recommend the Bluff for your doctor needs. English is no problem here. Also, I recently had an injury that required an ENT specialist. Dr. Akashi helped me find an english speaking ENT near me. He didn't have to help me in my situation but he did and that meant a lot to me. He was super responsive and caring during my difficult situation. I highly recommend him and the Bluff team!

(Translated by Google) I have never been afraid of the Bluff Clinic that I can use like a home doctor. In the past, doctors who were doctors at international schools, bright staff members who are always good at English, and above all, waiting rooms that are always crowded with patients, are rather relaxing.

First visit Very professional doctor , perfect English, no waiting time with an appointment confirmation (you can make it online) and cheap! Paid for the doctor and the medecine (10 days antibiotics) not even 20 Euro. So highly recommended!

Excellent clinic specially for non Japanese or expats, English speakers staff and their appointment timing is sharp so no much waste of time. Also you can get your medicines directly there so no need to visit the pharmacy after the consultation.

The reception staff was the absolute worst (super rude). It's like the clinic version of Karen's diner ( the restaurant where they're rude to you on purpose). I would rather have a Japanese speaking receptionist with a pleasant attitude than an English speaking receptionist with a horrible attitude. ( btw she spoke to me in both Japanese and English, and no surprise she's rude in both). Ask her to change, or get a pleasant Japanese speaking receptionist ( there's always Google translate, or some other tool these days so language isn't such a big issue as before).
