👍👍 Had my first trial class last night (I am visiting schools to see which one is the best fit). The facility is very clean, loved the small class size for more individual instruction, the instructor was very welcoming and engaging, always made sure I had something to work on and gave me exercises that... People often mention great, training, train,

Had my first trial class last night (I am visiting schools to see which one is the best fit). The facility is very clean, loved the small class size for more individual instruction, the instructor was very welcoming and engaging, always made sure I had something to work on and gave me exercises that are a fit for me as a beginner, and someone was there to make sure every move I did was correct. They played upbeat music while practicing which made the experience more fun and empowering. 10 stars for sure. Even though I’m choosing Kung Fu for foundation work, definitely coming here for Jiu-Jitsu when it’s time to cross train. Yee!!

Love it! John and Joey are great instructors and all the higher level belts are interested in seeing you improve as training partners. I've managed a BJJ gym in the past and have trained at many different facilities, this place is top notch!

Great place to train and learn the gentle art. If you live nearby or are just visiting YCJJC is a fantastic place to learn and become part of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu family.

Amazing training experience. Very experienced coaching staff. Welcoming training partners. One of the best martial arts gyms in the area! Can't recommend it enough!

Been training here for over 3 years and I have absolutely loved it! I had zero previous martial arts experience before beginning training here, but I always felt welcomed and comfortable. All of the instructors are extraordinarily knowledgeable. The monthly membership fee is a great value considering the quality of instruction you will receive.

My son takes kids classes and loves it. There's a knack to working with kids and Mr. Johnny's got it.

This place is as good as it gets for BJJ. My husband and I have been going for the past 2-3 months and its the best of the best. Chris and Joey are among the best teachers out there with a great personality. It has really helped me become better at BJJ and I absolutely am in love with the sport and plan to train here for the rest of our lives. I couldn't see myself anywhere else. Great group of people as well too that come and train.

I am a brown belt who stopped in for a day to train here. The whole gym was very welcoming. Good technique, good instruction, and great sparring. The facility was clean if a bit industrial. I prefer gyms that look like they've been trained in as opposed to gyms that have brand new everything. The bathroom was a little cramped but that's such a trivial complaint. The only reason that I didn't give them a 5 out of 5 was because I only spent one class there and I don't think it would be fair to give them a perfect score on my one day experience. I am sure if I get to go back a few times I will update this to a 5

I have been training here for a couple of years now and I really enjoy it. The coaches are really great and I appreciate that they seem to be giving complementary lessons. Great training environment, great partners. Overall, I can't say enough good things about training here. I hope to continue here for a long time.

Super welcoming gym with the most real feel I've gotten on the road. Finally got to check off Florida on this trip to Tampa and YCJJC is among the best places I've dropped in to train out. Five countries and twenty-five states now. They have plenty of scheduling options and we're responsive to messaging to make sure it was ok to drop in. Sal, Jake, Brent and Rodney asking others made me feel welcome during the casual drill session on Friday at 6AM. I was torn between that and the 6AM Thursday open roll but Brent was a tough as nails, super crafty fellow grey haired practitioner who had some cool stuff to share so this class turned out to be perfect. Location has got great airflow and cool art on the walls along with plenty of space to safely roll. They take health, safety, and hygiene seriously. But to me the best part are all the time slots to work on developing your game with the freedom to explore independently and without warm-ups! The calendar also has plenty of organized class time so they have something for everyone... highly recommended!

Every Sunday, the Ybor City open mat offers a fantastic jiu-jitsu experience, perfect for making friends and practice skills. The atmosphere is welcoming to all skill levels, fostering a great mix of learning and friendly competition. It's not just about grappling; it's about community and connection. Highly recommend for anyone passionate about jiu-jitsu or looking for a supportive, friendly environment to train.
