This
is
Tampa's
first
Michelin
star
experience
imo!
We
have
eaten
at
many
3-star
Michelin
restaurants
and
the
omakase
experience
at
Kosen
is
right
up
there.
To
be
picky
(so
picky
that
I
am
treating
Kosen
as
though
it
already
has
been
awarded
3-stars),
I
would
say
that
the
reception
bar
and
sommelier
could
have
been
a
bit
more
enhanced
and
personable,
but
I
don't
think
this
was
an
intended
highlight
of
the
program
anyhow.
It
was
all
about
the
omakase,
and
to
that
end
it
was
spectacular.
In
contrast
to
other
michelin-star
level
experiences,
there
was
not
much
trickery
or
shock/awe
tactics
other
than
the
lobster
dish
perhaps,
which
was
flavored
with
a
dashi
that
oddly
resembled
the
taste
1970s
high
end,
vintage
leather?
This
is
not
a
knock
on
the
dish,
as
it
was
one
of
my
personal
favorites
and
the
most
exciting
bite
I've
had
all
year,
but
this
was
the
only
curveball
dish.
Every
other
dish
was
straightforward,
classic
omakase
style
delivered
with
technical
superiority.
Short
of
Japan,
I
really
can't
imagine
having
a
better
omakase
experience.
This
is
a
sea-change
for
Tampa,
and
imo
marks
the
moment
when
the
city
has
FINALLY
opened
its
doors
for
real,
world-class
gastronomy.
