Had no idea this museum existed and have lived in Tampa for 20 plus years. Cool place to discover and their exhibits change often. Quick and cheap to explore downtown.

Other than the Susan Camp Crosby display the Museum was underwhelming. Most of the pieces seem amateurish (especially the Members gallery). I am by no means an expert in photography, so I don’t judge the technical qualities of the work. I’m only stating that the photograph lacked character, interest, and imagination. Very disappointed!

My wife and I are both into photography so we appreciated the art and took our time. That said it only took about an hour to see everything. There are 2 dead end wings. Maybe 50 to 60 photos? If you're in the Curtis Park area it's nice to come inside for a look around the lobby, which is very nice.

I had looked at other reviews in advance so I was not surprised by its smaller size. It actually ended up being larger than I expected because of that. I felt the price of admission is fair. We saw the Paul Caponigro and The Company We Keep exhibitions as well as the local section and the Community Animal Show and enjoyed them very much. It was nice having somewhere dedicated to photography, would love for them to have more space to showcase more styles of photography and artists. Parking in the underground garage was fine, although a little confusing at first to find for a tourist. The staff was friendly and informative.

Not worthy of visit… remember to use the coupon for two dollars off. The coupon said 2 dollars off for each person, but we only get 2 dollars off for total... Also.... I do not understand why build this kind of building? Big empty space with huge elevators, and there are only very small space for each floor...... So wasteful... So U.S.......

I was so excited to visit the so called "Museum of Photographic Arts" because I was hoping to see and learn a little bit more about Photographic Arts! As a lover of photography I was very disappointed with my visit. The poor selection and display of the images was rather sad. The Photographs were basically hung in three short hallways which they had a nerve to call a "Museum of Photographic Arts" and charge an entry fee! Save yourselves time and money and take your family to a real museum! As for photographs, you can see better photos on Flickr.

This was my first time visiting this museum . I came to see the Langston Hughes collection . I was very satisfied with my experience there because the museum has a little bit of everything. They also showcase photographs from local artist as well as extrinsic artist as Roger Ballen (1950)

My experience here was one of the best while in Tampa. I am an avid photographer and love documenting trips and where I visit. This tour was free and we got an entire tour of the museum by our wonderful tour guide. We got to visit during the day and we were practically the only ones on the tour. 10/10 would recommend!

It was my first experience at this wonderful smaller museum (to my surprise). It is clean and organized but does not offer a inhouse museum store for purchasing items it does however have a small wall counter with a few items for purchasing. I wanted some socks that were on sale but not available in my size. I also wanted a magnet for the refrigerator but they had none. The museum is setup on two floors and included a mixture of photos and canvas but mainly photos taken by several artist spanning decades. I enjoyed them all! The desk hostess was plensent and answered all my questions. If you have a SNAP or EBT card entry if FREE! Parking on the street is sparatic but available. I paid $3 for 2hrs. They also have a an underground parking location at the museum. I chose to park on the street two blocks away. It was a pretty day and I wanted to stretch my legs. I will visit again in the future. They were closed on Sunday but they do have a small coffee and snack cafe onsite in a lovely setting with seating on the first floor. Try them out for something different in a museum experience. Happy viewing!

The opening exhibit at their new location in Ybor City is fantastic. Icons of black and white photography - among many works in familiar with, I greatly enjoyed learning new ones such as Lewis Hine. Highly recommend this art exhibit to enjoy photography greats close to home.

Very nice little museum right on 7th Ave in Ybor. Always nice to see new art and local photographers.

Very pretty building, really nice lady at the service desk. I was expecting more, there were one and a half galleries open. It did not take very long to go through the whole thing which was slightly disappointing. The photographs were nice but it would have been nice to have more to look at.

Ive been meaning to stop by the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts for a couple of years now. I just had never made time. The ladies running the front desk were nice. I was not impressed by their exhibits, and the layout of the museum is not the best, but I love that we have a museum in Tampa dedicated to photography. I just wish it was better. Despite my current 3-star rating, I will be back and reserve the right to update my rating in the future. FWIW, the museum is located in a great part of downtown.

Best school fieldtrip ever! Staff is knowledgeable. The expo contents are quite interesting, and well curated.

Although it had beautiful pieces of art, I wish I would have seen more work from locals and I would've liked to have seen some pictures in the hall gallery blown up. Also, I understand gender exploration is interesting to some people, but I'm not sure it's a large amount so as to give it the emphasis it had. I had to catch my children before they went in and saw some nudity. It would be nice to be warned... And just as much as I respect and like Native Americans, I wish I could've seen more insightful pictures. It did have several pictures that show you a bit of their day-to-day, though. Could you include some high schoolers' work? The museum could be an outlet for the community. I didn't get that feel.

It was quite difficult to find the museum. It's set inside of a big building that has a bistro and an office on the first floor with no real directions so it's not obvious exactly where the museum is from the outside, but it's on the second floor. Things I liked: The member photography section. It was actually kind of interesting. Though the gallery was small Things I didn't: The official galleries at the time I visited felt a little out of place. Although the gallery on gender expression was interesting and I'd recommend if you wanted to see a gender exploration through photos, the other gallery felt like a behind the scenes reel from a show I'd never seen before. Some of the photos were nice, but it was just behind the scenes photos from a show. The combination felt odd to me.

The FMoPA is a great experience to visit. The price was fair, and the woman at the desk, Simone, was very kind and helpful! The exhibits were informational and well-installed and the photographs were incredible. Bathrooms were clean too.

The workers were nice but these exhibits were extremely underwhelming. Maybe you’ll enjoy more if you’re an art student or theater kid but I didn’t really understand most of the art. They need more color photography, in my opinion that was the best exhibit.

Interesting exhibits but not many of them. Staff were friendly but just not much to see.

This was a great museum experience, especially since I do photography in my spare time. Please visit and support the artists.
