What a vibe this bar brings! Throughly enjoyed the decor, games, and the DJ on a Friday night playing all the music to bring me back to my teenage years! The drinks are super fun with creative names. This place 1000% nails the GenX atmosphere on every level. I will say that as much as I saw the bartenders and clean up guys hustling, the service to get drinks at a table right next to the bar was really, really slow. I probably would have had another drink if I didn't have to wait almost 20 minutes for the first one and then sit with an empty glass for another 15 minutes waiting for 1 server to take care of 6 tables in front of the projector screen. It wasn't bad or unfriendly service thus the 5 star rating, but there is room for improvement if they want me to spend more money on drinks in the future. Bring cash for the games and the bar can break bills if needed. It was very confusing on how much everything was because none of the games are labeled with how much it is to play. The machines take dollar bills and it seemed most of them were $1 for each play. The photo booth was also confusing as it says $5 to take photos but then it made me add an additional $4 to print or to add additional larger prints which I just wanted the 1 strip of photos. Somehow I eneded up with 3 strips of photos for $9. After a few drinks, I'm sure someone would mess up that process as well. Overall, this place is a pretty awesome night out and I recommend it for a group outing or even a super fun first date night!

Chill tavern across the street from a hotel I stayed at. It was open late and it had lots of cool decor. There wasn’t many options for me . I’m a pescatarian that doesn’t eat fish so I ordered fried shrimp over green salad. They’re reasonably priced and the salad would have been good .. but the shrimp was hard as croutons.

Jeimy and Dean were absolutely amazing with their stunning service. Beyond attentive and responsive, practically waiting on us hand and foot. Never in all my life have I felt so respected, valued, and like royalty than spending my evening at this establishment. I will be actively promoting, attending, and funding GenX to ensure its world class level of service and experience. Anyone who misses out on this hidden national treasure can never say they’ve truly lived life. It is quiet literally IMPOSSIBLE to say anything negative about this place (except how much time I’ll be spending here) so if you’re looking to improve your next GenX-perience, RUN! Don’t walk, to this outstanding location.

Decent food and wonderful service. We had pizza and a couple of sandwiches that were ok and hit the spot. The place has a unique vibe (and scent) that may work for some but not for others - as was for our party. In any case, it's a good inexpensive place to have some food and drinks after work.

Waited over 40 minutes to receive one item, max of 25 patrons in the establishment when I ordered. Also, signs on the door and on the inside says 5/$20 buckets, but that’s false advertising. Service - sucks Good speed - sucks Games - awesome

Amazing 80-90’s atmosphere for hanging out, eating, drinking and just living it up! Jell-O shots, full bar and cool beer options! Simply a very cool spot! DJ with great music and mixes!

This place seems really cool but they need to provide training to the A.M. G Server in identifying the difference between a pink and medium well burger. The server was adamant that my meat was medium well. As soon as I realized, I wouldn’t win the argument, I just said “it’s okay.” My stomach is very sensitive so it would be great if the waitress could understand what a medium well burger is as I paid for a meal I did not order. I’m not faulting the cook as I know it looked medium well from the outside.

I wanna give it a higher rating but when we went they were unfortunately understaffed. The vibe was great, service was great, and the food was amazing we just had to wait a bit longer. I will definitely be going here again and will update my review when i do. If you can check them out though, its worth the stop.

I've been wanting to come here for some time finally had the opportunity to and to say disappointed is an understatement. Arrived shortly after 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon There was a decent crowd wouldn't call it overly crowdy but definitely had people sitting at the bar and at four tables. The server came to take our order never introduced herself nor at any point in time did she ask us if we wanted drinks. I politely said can you please give us a minute we've never been here before and we're still looking over the menu. She looked at me cross-eyed and walked away. This was extremely surprising because I would have at least expected her to offer suggestions on what some of the local favorites are ask if we were interested in appetizer ask can I get you something to drink got absolutely nothing. After about 10 minutes of sitting around had to wave the server down and ask her if we can put in an order for appetizers as she took our order and turned to walk away I said please can we also order some drinks. We ordered the cheese curds and the guacamole, queso and pico de gallo chips and dip. The cheese curds were outstanding, what they called guacamole was simply smashed avocados I did not see any onion cilantro peppers or tomatoes in what they call guacamole. The pico de gallo was dry as if they drained all the juice. After another 10 minutes of sitting and waiting the server finally returned and asked to take our order. It took close to 25 minutes before we got our food and to say the least the food was lukewarm. By the time we finished our lunch and ask for the bill The server came back and presented a total when we went to pay the bill we noticed the total was higher than what the server stated after doing a double take we noticed that the server took it upon herself to add a 25% tip to the bill. To say the least I was in shock! Aside from the food it is a very cool place brings back a lot of memories from the '80s and I hope this was just a single bad experience and not something consistent with the service. Definitely need to look into the wait staff I understand that people have a bad day but I have to tell you this was just a terrible experience at no point during the entire time we were there did this person smile try to engage nothing. At this point I would have to give it at least a few months before I try and go back again if I do.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere here, enjoyed sharing some memories of my younger years with my son. The food was good, enjoyed some waffle fries with their sauce. Also had the adult capri sun which was pretty good. Giving 4 stars cause the service was slow, it seemed like they didn’t have enough people working.

My hotel was right across the street. Which isn't anything to write home about, but this bar is! It's everything you loved about the 80/90s. Music and atmosphere is amazing. Beer and food was outstanding.

One of the best bars in downtown Tampa for a fun atmosphere! Tons of 80’s and early 90’s memorabilia. So much fun to look at everything and reminisce. The wait staff and bartenders were truly exceptional. Average bar food and good strong alcoholic beverages. The place is large with multiple seating areas: the bar, picnic tables, regular tables, and several conversational areas with comfy couches. We went on a busy Saturday night and staff kept up with impeccable, friendly service. Ordering & paying was simple & quick. We were a party of 7 people & all of us said we’d gladly return. Fun games to play and they had a DJ that night too. If you’re a Gen X’er - this place is a must see!!

Fun place to visit. Brings back memories of 80's and 90's. A few lunch specials that are reasonable. Would like to see some dishes that are not so full of rich sauces, bacon, Etc. Need not be health food, but some healthier selections were be great. Even chicken sandwiches are over the top. Servers are wonderful but service can be slow sometimes. If you have time, it's worth the wait.

We got our food to-go, the burgers were delicious...especially the Truffle Shuffle. My only "negative" is we were super excited about the Dunkaroos...and they taste NOTHING like Dunkaroos. The cookies were animal crackers, much denser and sweeter than the Dunkaroos shortbread version. The actual dip was more of a canoli dip or possible cream cheese based? Dunkaroos have the gross-delicious artificial jar frosting dip. Long story short, I would not recommend spending $9 on the Dunkaroos.

As a first time visitor this place was really cool. I loved the retro atmosphere and the variety of options they offered from food to drinks. The place brought a nostalgic vibe with all the items hanging at the wall to the many classic arcade games throughout the place. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back here again. I also want to give a shout out to my bartender server Jeimy. She had provided excellent service and at the time I was in there she was running a solo shift with a pretty decent rush of people. Her service was top notch making sure all her patrons were catered too and greeting new customers as soon as they walked in.

Great cocktails and atmosphere. The jalapeño poppers are really good. Service was a little slow (we were here from about 1p-2p.

Fun atmosphere with pong, skeeball, air hockey, table hockey, etc. Couches for hanging out (or make out lol). Def a great 80/90's vibe. They have regular beers and a full bar. The "Pump up the Jam" cocktail is super good!! Waffle fry nachos are to drool over.

Very fun place. We played a lot of games and had a great time. Food also was surprisingly good, and service was great!! It's located downtown so parking is limited. There is a parking garage close by though . If in the area check it out and play a game of air hockey . 👍😁

Amazing tavern. Fun games, great snacks, drinks, and food (decently priced at 8 to 15 per item depending on drink, app, meal, etc) wonderful atmosphere and decor. Fantastic service, extremely clean (everywhere). 1000000% recommend the waffle fry nachos AND the cheech and chong drink (cbd infused). We will most definitely return!!

*Food was "ok". Salad was tiny and weak, cheese steak was mehh. Pretty much just ate the meat & peppers inside (wasn't feeling the cheese and the bread. I think the bread was too wet and the cheese was too hard). Onion rings were awesome, though! Atmosphere was cool... fun throwback. *The adult Capri Sun was really good.

This was such a fun find! The atmosphere is top notch, loved looking at all of the awesome decor all over the bar. We had the Dunkaroos and it was a very large portion and a bit much. The only thing is I wish it would have just been the confetti Betty Crocker frosting. We also happened to be there during trivia which was really fun. If we are back in town, we’d definitely pay them a visit again.

I love this place! Came here for my birthday and Shea was amazing! Treated us like family and made sure our drinks were always full! The food was delicious as well. 😋 Highly recommend the adult caprisuns, burgers, fried pickles, and loaded waffle fries. We will be back! Super cute 80s & 90s themed bar. Thank you Shea for making my birthday amazing!

Had a seminar to attend in the area. Went to the bar and it was nicer and cleaner than what I expected. I had the burger 🍔 I can't remember which but I just know bartender said that's what they are known for and she was 100% right. The burger was amazing and they got a great bartender there she served me an old fashioned like I've never tasted before. It was great. I was alone so I sat at the bar but I walked around the place and it's actually bigger than what it seems. Has a lot of chuck e cheese style games that were cool if you come with some friends. Like the mini basketball hoop, arcade etc. Dope spot tasty food, and great drinks if I lived around here id be here often.

Gen X is the least pretentious bar in downtown Tampa. Food is better than most restaurants and the drinks are fun and delicious. Place has amazing ambiance. Gen X Taven is more magical the Disney and made all my dreams come true. Will continue to be my favorite bar in Tampa.

The space is pretty cool, I like the decor (80s-90s), the old TVs and lamps made out of floppy discs, the room with couches and seating areas, and that you can play video games. We were there twice within a few weeks and the downside would have to be the bartender (he wasn't terribly friendly and though the bar is 360° around him, he would only serve from one side...the female server was also not terribly friendly; I don't think either of them smiled a single time.). Also, the floors were sticky both times we were there.

Found another gem in Tampa! Decor is spot on. N64 with Mario Kart is always a plus. The manager turned the sound on to the NBA Finals for us. Fantastic experience.
