Really fascinating location with truly unique flora and fauna under the shelter of a beautiful mangrove sanctuary. Unfortunately this particular property really could benefit from regular maintenance and more frequent upkeep. I suspect significant underfunding which is a pity for such a beautiful public space. Many of the trails are desperately overgrown. In some places overgrown branches have been cleared, but were just cast to the side rather than being chipped or hauled away properly. Far too much aging litter strewn about everywhere. If the City of Tampa can't take care of this park they should donate it to the county so it gets maintained.

A walk down the dilapidated boardwalk looks a lil like something out of a horror movie. Meanwhile the trash incinerator hums away in the background with a sound reminiscent to 'Welcome to The Machine'. Likewise, the paved trail offers great behind the scenes views of the municipal waste facility. It definitely an urban refuge, mainly for mosquitoes.

This is NOT a park it should be called a preserve if that. It sits next to waste management, police and fire facilities, as well as other industrial 🏭 facilities. There is a bike path that follows the fence line keeping you from all the industrial parts, you barley see any wet land and there is LOTS of trash throughout the park. Saw some natural boar πŸ— and egret 🐦. The pretty view I posted is found at the end of the bike path on a dilapidated lookout platform.

A seemingly derelict park in Tampa near Ikea. It was fun to visit. But nothing has been updated or maintained in a long time.

If you’re looking for an immersive animal spotting experience, keep looking because Tampa’s housing crisis made it impossible for even the native creatures to afford their rent and they are nowhere to be found. Whether it be the acrid swamps at the heart of the nature park emitting hoards of infant sized mosquitos, or the nightmarish boardwalk seemingly lost in time, you feel as if you are stuck in a dark post apocalyptic wasteland, or worse: a public park that has not seen adequate funding or attention from the Parks and Recreation department for decades.

Needs some repairs on the boardwalk when I last went. The paths are nice and it’s bordering the recycling plant but there are still wildlife and it’s a nice place for a walk or a bike ride. There is a loop you can follow that’s well paved worth using. I took the scooter here one afternoon and had a blast!

Just pretty much a nature trail, with birds , trees, and rodents. Nothing spectacular, also be aware of your surroundings, especially walking with children or a Dog. Came across many Dirty Syringes on the ground near the trails. Junkies walking around.

Not Safe It is an unkempted park filled with used condoms and creepy atmosphere. I intended to scope the area out for routine walks and runs, and it was just very creepy and secluded. Strongly do not recommend.

Nice little park. Saw a lot of people just sitting in there cars for up to 45 minutes. It's right next to the city dump so prepare yourself for the smell. The pavement trail is about 1.5 miles long before you get to a bunch of no trespassing signs. The dirt trails are really short. Didn't see much wildlife, but it was still a pretty quite place considering the location.

Full of trash and condom wrappers. If you go take gloves and a trash picker and do some good. The best thing about this place it will teach you to never take a Styrofoam cup again. I’m not sure what the mosquitoes live on here because no sentient mammal would ever set foot here.

Police report was made. Please do not go here, at least until these creeps are gone and arrested. A man was publicly fondling himself as my dog and I walked right lasted him. Another male joined and followed us back to our car. I make this review to warn anyone who may not be able to defend themself in case these freaks were to try to hurt or attack you. PLEASE be careful here and I hope this makes people aware before going here in case something were to happen they are not alone or are ready.

The park is very dirty. Trash everywhere. The trail(paved asphalt) some sights of water to see on the way. Trail goes right alongside the trash recycling area. (it smells horrible) The police gun range is along the path.(very loud) when practicing(shooting). If you plan on going alone, it is VERY SKETCHY Overall I will not be visiting there again. No need for photos. You have been warned!

Trail head not well marked. Ended up walking on a paved trail that did not provide any scenic views unless you find garbage trucks, waste center, tires and trash all over the sides of the trail and in the mangos attractive. We continued on, thinking that was just part of the trail that would open up to better views. Ended up when the trail stopped over 2 miles from the start, walking on the road by the K-9 training center to get back to the parking lot. One of the trails heading into the mangos had lots of animal tracks and we quietly turned back when we came up behind two animals that looked like from our 200 ft distance might be hogs ahead of us. Didn't feel safe at this park.

Very nice park. Cool and shady. Great place for a picnic but park needs tables. We only saw the one we sat at and it's falling apart . But all in all very nice

This could be an excellent park but it is simply not maintained and has devolved into a trysting place, seemingly mostly gay. Trails are not maintained nor marked. The elevated platform seems less safe every time I go there. It's really quite sad.

The walking trail to the right is currently broken due to repairs to the boardwalk, so take the left entrance. Lamest bike trail ever. It runs along waste management facility and it ends at a street instead of taking you back to the starting point. The picnic area is pretty. Nature trail is nice and shaded, but you can hear the noise from traffic on I4.

Came to explore a new park without reading reviews. Wish I had. The only nice thing about this park is the parking area where there are lots of trees providing filtered sun and there are lots of leaves on the ground. It's very pretty as you drive in. It's in the middle of an industrial area and the smell is really bad from McKay trash plant right next to it. Several cars were parked at the parking area that had a single male sitting in it. It could be guys that worked at the plant having lunch, but I had an un-easy feeling the whole time I was there. Only saw just single males on the trail which I only walked down for like a minute. I could not get out of there fast enough and will not go back, ever.

This place is no good. Do not recommend at all. There is broken class everywhere and it's like as people come just to dump trash. I did not feel safe here and the energy is just *off*. As an avid lover of all things Nature, I would not recommend visiting this place at all.

Gliding in on my scooter I see a tampa police SUV exiting the park and cars in the parking lot scatter off as their drivers begrudgingly pull their passengers' peen-passifiers from their mouths. This park is full of snakey wakey. Get it while you still can ... Normals: you are not welcome here. This is a queer park. That is all.

I enjoyed birding along the trails. I wish we had a good look into the Bay but there didn't seem to be a vantage point.

I mean, I guess the park is nice, but it's small and poorly maintained by the city. The walking path would be cool, if my objective was to see a trash/recycling plant and a police dog training center. But you can't easily ride a bike or stroller on the path because it's poorly maintained and bubbling up from root growth. What a shame. Get your act together Tampa Parks & Rec

This has a lot of potential to be a great park, but it definitely needs more maintenance done to it. They should also have more benches and picnic tables, as well as a bathroom.

Would recommend that you douse yourself in bug spray. Mosquitos were so big they could fit in an xxsmall dog collar.

This is my first review had to say something... the boardwalk is falling apart has holes in it everywhere and feels like it'll snap apart. Its right next to a landfill or something.. Its a waste so many other parks to explore better

Well all i can say is I dont plan on returning anytime soon, lots of trash but even more mosquitos i left here with no less then 20 bites on each leg, hopefully the cute bunnies that are here dont have to endore the flesh devouring wrath of these small winged beasts. Other then that this park is the whackest ive seen in tampa thus far no wonder i have never came in my 26 years living here, shoulda kept it that way.
