Upon arrival I had the best transaction with the reception staff. I had made an error in dates and they quickly and efficiently fixed it without judgement and with a smile. I was in good spirits until I got to my room. Tired from being stuck in a traffic jam and it being late, I was ready to sleep. The carpet was horrible and didn't look like it had ever been cleaned, the chair was stained, with holes and siding coming out, and when I sat to take off my shoes I feel backwards into it because there was no support under the cushion. The next morning we realized the back of the door in the bathroom was filthy as well as the windows. The bed was fine, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not ready at 6 the first day, the second it was. You couldn't beat the location. I know it's near the college, but it seems a few easy fixes and more staff might make this a true find is a higher.

If I could rate at 0, I would. Worst hotel experience ever. The Hotel staff entered my room and took pictures of my belongings. They locked us out of the room and found appropriate to address the issue with my son, who is a minor. Upon bringing it up to the attention of the general manager, Mr. John Gable, he indicated that he "had too many rooms to take the time to investigate" and that this was standard practice. As a disabled veteran currently experiencing homelessness, I feel absolute indignation about how my kids and I were treated and how poorly the situation was handled by the hotel staff; escalating matters that could've been resolved at a lower level. I believe every individual is deserving of respect regardless of their situation. Mr. Gable and his staff, however, seem to disagree.

This place is the BEST! I recently stayed for a weekend and accidently left my work computer in my room. I realized when I got home. The office manager and staff were so helpful and kind. They helped with the return and I was so grateful. I had a shipping company pick up my computer and I received it back in perfect condition. Definitely the place to stay! Thank you! Thank you!

First of all, one of the elevators is out of order and the only other one is super sketchy (think horror movie) it stopped working also. They had to get someone to fix it. We used the stairs the rest of the time. The carpets are all stained and so dated. The jacuzzi doesn't work and the shower by the pool doesn't work (it's all taped up). The pillows smell so bad and there was what looked like an old blood stain on the fitted sheet of the bed. The bathrooms are also dated and not the cleanest. I do not recommend this place at all.

5 stars for the front desk clerk James. Give this man a raise! Pleasant and professional and made sure the room was as it is supposed to be. La Quinta is lucky to have a great employee. I travel for work so I know when someone is above bar. James is above bar! Kudos.

The staff were grumpy, the building is old and falling apart and the free breakfast is cereal, low fat milk, blueberry muffins and yogurt. Coffee was good, but no regular creamer. The lamp did not work in the room and the electrical outlets were over used with extension plugs. Can you say fire hazard? I will say that the cleaning staff did a good job of keeping things neat and tidy. Not worth the over $200 per night bill.

Friendly front desk staff, but issues with (1) pillows were small and square like couch throw pillows. Asked for a couple more, was told they didn't have any. (2) At check in, we were told there would be no maid service at all due to the pandemic. (3) No hand sanitizer at the stations. Machines weren't refilled. (4) breakfast was ok, bagels, pastries, make your own waffles, and yogurt, tea and coffee too. (5) Cups were only small styrofoam. (6) other visitors to the hotel were easily heard in the hallway and through the walls.

When getting a hotel like La Quinta Inn, you need to remember you're not staying at the Sheraton or Embassy Suites. You're getting something affordable, convenient, and reliable which is exactly what it was! So I'm typically not as picky or critical if something is going on. I needed a place to stay for a few days and I got a very comfortable stay. Rooms were a little outdated but cozy, breakfast was nice but there wasn't much variety. And all of that is fine! It's not the Sheraton remember. The location to Busch Gardens was awesome and a short Uber/Lyft away and there were some shops about a 10-15 minute walk away which was convenient. The staff was extremely friendly and was helpful in answering any question or dealing with any issue I had. They were awesome and a big part of the reason why I enjoyed my stay. The stay wasn't perfect, there was some issues with the toilet, a little water leaked from the AC window unit and I had to get a new key card because mine didn't work for my room. Did I want this to happen? Absolutely not, but for the price I paid and convenience I was okay with it.

Where can begin….. For the household name of “Wyndham” to even have their name attached to this filth of a hotel like this is beyond disturbing and disappointing. This hotels current pictures before booking ,are misleading and deceiving to the core. For one night, to spend over $200 dollars, my family was robbed and cheated. We will not get sleep tonight. How dare this hotel’s marketing and management team even deceive customers like this , shows the level of customer service and hospitality. I would rather me and my family sleep in our car or travel back the 3 1/2 hours home then this filthy place. To have been out all day celebrating my daughters birthday and to end the day with a place like this breaks my heart. How dare this place takes advantage of customers like this. I would make it my business that make sure customers are aware of this place. From the carpet, holes in the walls, nights stand lights near falling off the wall, rust , stain on the walls and carpet , dirty bathroom, spotted and filthy pull out couch, cold water in the entire building to take a shower etc the list goes on. On this night their was many complaints from customers even some packing their bags and leaving. “Pictures speak a thousand words “. The pictures post came from our so called ,”Suite”. You be the judge of that. This place is old and outdated and needs to be torn down to the ground!!!! DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARN MONEY ON A PLACE LIKE THIS!!!

We stayed on the first floor and the room had bed bugs (I’ll always check upon entrance of a new hotel room). The lady at the front desk was very helpful and understanding, giving us a full refund (we obviously went somewhere else). Overall, the hotel was pretty dirty and bed bugs are a big enough turn off for me to never return.

I've been to a few Wyndham locations but this was my first time at La Quinta Inn. The location was marvelous, you're close to a bunch of stores and restaurants, and only a medium drive to downtown or ybor area. They do offer a free breakfast, but not very many options for vegans. The pool and courtyard area was beautiful! The room was spacious and had great natural lighting. My only complaints were the room and furniture look very archaic, the bathroom was not very clean or had good water pressure, and the elevator is very rusty and makes a weird noise when you're on it. Thank you James for the excellent customer service!

The room was infested with COCKROACHES! The carpet is so dirty and worn you can't imagine stepping on it barefoot! I've never experienced such a horrible stay at a hotel. I was dropping of my son at the university only to find myself with hardly any sleep and very anxious knowing I was surrounded by roaches. When I informed the front desk they just casually apologized and said they were working on the issue. I'll never stay here or at a La Quinta again. What a discusting property representing Wyndham and USF Tampa. What a horrible impression to give a parent dropping of their kid at school. Stay away from this hotel...

Just had an overnight stay to take a family member to Moffitt. Front desk staff James was very helpful and very nice. All staff greeted and/or smiled in passing! Carpets need to be deep cleaned or replaced! While there our vehicle and 5 others in the back parking lot of the hotel were broken into! The light was covered with branches,no security cameras and no security at hotel at all! Front desk manager Justin was very understanding, offering assistance and insured an incident report /claim would be filed! Before the break in we were planning on returning as there will be additional appointments but unfortunately with this happening we will not return

This was by far the best stay I’ve had in awhile🥰 let me start off by saying the mattress in room 106🔥🔥🔥😍🥰 so comfortable I slept like baby mannn😍I booked 3more day just because I hadn’t had a good night sleep in a couple years honestly! The reason I choose this l hotel because of the location…. It’s located about 3 minutes from Bush Gardens and Adventure Island…you can pretty much walk if you want to(if your a walker) you have all kind of restaurants down the street….University Mall…it’s very close to both Moffitt Cancer Hospitals! The reason for my stay was both personal and business and the staff made me feel like I was home❤️ Justin(GM), Mrs.Kitty, Mr. James, Amanda, and Kenny (Front desk Liaisons) was fantastic! Any interaction was always pleasant and friendly! This place is being remodeled but it is Clean…the house keeping and maintenance staff are so nice and hard workers so I wanna shot them out to Milka, Debra, lele, Mrs Pearl, Antonio thank you! These are all the people I came in contact with! I only shared pics outside my room because remodeling is not finished s but I shared common areas! Once it finished it’s gonna be the perfect lil get away🥰😍😘 I hope this help someone that’s looking for prefect location for the north Tampa area!

Cannot say enough positive things about this hotel staff. They went above and beyond for our very large traveling group of teenagers. This hotel had patience, kindness and lots of smiling staff members. Breakfast options were plentiful and the coffee was good. Thank you!

My family and I recently stayed at this location on a last minute trip. We were VERY happy with the staff. As soon as you walk in you are greeted. James and Corine were absolutely amazing! Their customer service was above and beyond. By the end of the stay, both of them were like family. I would stay there again just to hang out with James and Corine. Yes, the hotel is under renovation, but the room upgrades were great! We cant wait to book with you guys again.

Rooms were OK, but hotel overall was filthy. Trash cans overflowing for days. Guests were loud and disreputable appearing. Definitely overpriced. Spend the extra $30 and stay across the street at embassy suites.

I'll start this review with one word, Wow! This hotel may have a little wear, but we chose it because it was near the Moffitt Treatment Center. But that is not the reason for this review. The service here is nothing short of amazing! There are two men who work the front desk that I would expect to see in any high-class resort. They were two of the nicest, accommodating, and knowledgeable people I have had the pleasure to meet. They were both named James, and they alone turned this 3 star hotel into 5 stars for us!! Thank you, gentlemen!

How do I begin. I've stayed here a few times over the past 6 years and everytime it got worse and worse. The first time in 2017 everything was fine, for the price it was clean and comfortable, though the entrance is a pain when driving since the turn lane is difficult to navigate. Then again in 2021, musty, ugly, but not too bad overall again, price considered. Finally in 2023 when we were moving out and needed somewhere to stay just 2 nights before leaving the city and WOW. Dirty, gross, stains everywhere, lamps broken, and beds with headboards that creaked with every move. I was terrified we would bring bugs to our new home with us, and good lord all of that only $10 less than the perfectly clean Hilton right next door????? No ma'am, never again.

Stayed here because of location and price. So many people had complaints this morning that we didn't bother when checking out. Our room wasn't even cleaned properly. There was a dirty, used and dried up washcloth hanging on the shower curtain rod. There was hardly any water pressure. At some point on Saturday there was no hot water and there was still no hot water Sunday morning. Did make me wonder about breakfast if they don't have hot water to clean things. The entire hotel needs maintenance; the elevators are past due for inspection, the 4th floor carpets are absolutely horrendous, several outside lights were out, especially towards the back of the property which is esp bothersome when your pets want out at 1:30am. The trash outside was always overflowing and trash on the ground (People suck!) The pet areas were decent and bags were always available and that waste basket looked like it was emptied often. Just a note for light sleepers, the walls are thin and I could hear the baby next door. It truly didn't bother me that a baby was crying, but it did wake me up. The beds and pillows were comfortable and appeared clean. Overall, I'd rather spend a little more and stay elsewhere.

My company booked this trip for me for a business class. I was there for a week the first day I everything was okay. I was not expecting a lot from a LA Quinta but I did expect for it to be clean and free of bugs. The second day I encountered ants in the bathroom and the 4th night I happened to be up when I noticed something crawling on my pillow and it turned out to be a bed bug. The location of this place is great, the staff was nice, and the tub was clean but I wasn't expecting bugs so the last day I slept in my car but if you can deal with those things the location is great.

Nothing too spectacular about this LaQuinta that would make them unique to any other hotel with the same name. The five stars was earned by working along with FEMA to house families that lost their homes during hurricane Ian. I personally have friends staying there and so I think that deserves five stars alone.

The bathroom it's too low to the floor do you need to update the room more model. The carpet needs to go they look really old! The people works there they're really nice the lobby everything smells good but they need new carpet update to look nicer! The only thing I don't like the doors when you go in the room they make tuna too much noise you sure slam doors all night

Very noisy in the mornings produced by either the housekeepers, other staff or the people who were in attendance for the healthcare conference held the weekend of June 3rd. It was mostly a male voice who kept yelling and laughing out loud. On Saturday, June 4th around 8pm, I came to the front desk and a male desk clerk was assisting two older females with a lengthy issue(looking up a phone number of a restaurant a calling), so I asked him if he could hand me two bars of soap and he told me that I need to wait and be patient, so I told him that he can just reach to the back and getting, and will be on my way, so he decided to try to engage me into an argument in front of other guests. A very disturbing experience overall. You obviously conveniently ignored the details on my review. I never said anything about the cleanliness of the room. This was about the noise and the rudeness of your desk clerk. You made it clear that you just want to sweep this under the rug. No wonder why your staff are incompetent. It all comes from the top

I can't say enough about the la Quinta inn, not only was the room clean and spacious, but really what stood above everything else was the service. Unfortunately I don't know the young ladies name who helped my husband and I, but she really went out of the way to help us, we were displaced by the hurricane, and I also am disabled.. we could not find a room anywhere else, and if it wasn't for the young lady at the front desk I don't know what we would have done. I really hope that the management their knows how lucky they are to have such a good employee.

This is your standard hotel, no extras, no wow, just a hotel close by to sleep in. The front desk is very nice and welcoming. The room is dated and needs refurbishment, stained carpet, and old furniture. Still relatively clean. Very quiet. Overall pleasant.

This hotel is the worst I've been in by far!!! We had a reservation well in advance and checked in for over night, it was shocking to find the room in a very unsanitary poor condition. Roaches and other bugs everywhere, the bathroom extremely dirty.... urine stain on toilet seats, carpet very filthy, entry door jammed!! We immediately checked out, our children have medical issues and cannot be expose to this filth, when I checked out, they had the nerve to charge a full night on my card. I contacted the manager several time on different dates and he avoided answering the phone. Avoid this hotel at all cost if you like cleanliness and dislike mediocre!!! I WILL NEVER book any laquinta inn again!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. Everyone from Mrs.Kitty at check-in, all the front desk clerks were extremely polite and helpful, and very clean. I need to send a special Thank you to Claeshawn not only for me and my daughter but I witnessed him handle what could have been a very explosive encounter with a guest, He diffused the situation before it was able to explode. Cudos to Claeshawn for his Professionalism, Care, and Understanding. The best Customer Service I've ever witnessed!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👑💪🏾 Thank you to the entire staff at LA Quinta on Fowler Ave 🛎🏆🥇

The staff is super kind & helpful.. Every time I have stayed here the rooms have been clean and the beds comfy😊Overall if your looking for a good place to sleep 💤 this is it, the rooms are average. The area is close to lots of restaurants and the area appears to be safe.

Hurricane Ian displaced me from room I was renting a tree fell and crushed me I was in hospital fema was supposed to have housing for me, they didn't chris gave me a room . Fema has still not gotten me housing leaving me out in the cold. Chris and laquinta helped me when fema wouldn't. They have a big heart , compassion and care about their community.

Very convenient to USF, Busch Gardens and the water park. However, our room had an alarming red stain on the carpet. When I finished my shower a florida resident with six legs was crawling on the shower wall. We took a flip flop to it. A dead six legged creature was laying in a corner as well. Eww.

A short stay with the family to attend a graduation. Simple and clean place with good customer service with free wifi and free breakfast. Our room had a small fridge and a small microwave. The furniture was a bit old and outdated but we all slept well and enjoyed our stay. The price was great and the service was on point. Good breakfast too!

Checked in on Sunday. Had no hot water until Monday night. Power was turned off a couple of hours on Wednesday. We got a free upgrade and a very late check-out on Thursday as compensation. Front desk was very nice when they were there. I didnt care for the sparce free breakfast, but at least they had one.

My room was recently remodeled so the stay was nice. Location is convenient. Beds were clean and comfy. The breakfast was pretty decent. I liked the refrigerator and coffee area which was enclosed. Overall for the price decent stay. Staff was friendly. Do your pre-check in on mobile.

The staff was friendly and polite. We stayed there because of a medical treatment at Advent Health. This hotel was close to at least 3 hospitals and many restaurants, great location. The rooms were fine, just dated.

Sleeping in the sofa bed is like sleeping on top of metal springs. The carpet is dirty, and the smell of mold/old is noticeable. The price is not worth the hotel.

  • 3/5 Robin C. 1 year ago on Google
Dated hotel met basic needs for a place to sleep with breakfast. Staff was super friendly and extremely helpful when I needed to print a document. Ample space in king suite for two. Lots of long term stay guests and pets; watermelon scented hallways to mask smoke/marijuana smells. Room showed lots of wear, but a/c, tv, and mini fridge worked, bed and bathroom were clean; smells carry, garbage from prior guest found on floof, no housekeeping for the 5 nights stayed. Pool (not heated) and hot tub are decent. Cold breakfast of milk, oj, coffee, make-your-own waffles, assorted muffins, bagels, 3 kinds of cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and granola bars met needs. Close to Bush Gardens, lots of restaurants nearby, few miles to highways and grocery stores.

The room was decent, and hotel close to Busch Gardens. The staff were amazing in helping track down and send a lost children's blanket. So thankful!

In spite of an amazing staff, who clearly work extremely hard - the hotel is very run down. The staff deserve a better facility as do the clientele. Rooms smelled of smoke. The carpets in the hallways and in the rooms were pretty gross and have seen far better days. The service was great, just not the facility.
