The attendant didn't really know what she was doing, and the owner or manager has a permanent scowl on his face which was a putoff but I guess whatever, it's a gym. It's a decent gym if money is not an object. Unfortunately money is an object, so I almost choked at the $100 enrollment and $65 monthly fee. I can't even fathom how they are asking for first and last month fees up front like it's some kind of apartment rental agreement. This was the first time I had ever even seen that tried at a gym. (Let's be honest, we all know you will keep that last month fee if I switched!) All in all they were asking for $230 which is genuinely mental for what they provide. The gym has an actual bazillion machines which is both good and bad: you are less likely to wait, there is a lot of variety, and its less important if one machine is broken, but it is pretty cramped (but workable) and some machines are old/decrepit bargain finds they picked up cheap, like I'm talking some early 2000s stuff. The AC seemed to be set to a cool and crisp 82 degrees which kinda sucked. Combined with a lack of fans in some places like the far corners and you won't have to lift weights to break the sweat you're looking for. Again I really cant comprehend the $100 enrollment. I get that you want people to have a 'gym for life' or something, but jacking up enrollment to almost 3x what other gyms charge is just an anticompetitive tactic to stop people from leaving to better gyms and incentivising stagnation (clearly) of your own gym. Just really left a bad taste as an avid gym tester who has been around the block! No hard feelings!

Here for the bodybuilding show. It’s located in a small shopping center. Parking isn’t the best. Once I walked in I was overwhelm with equipment stacked on top of each other. The gym is small with too much equipment. I was bumping into people and there were about 30 people in the gym. The back area was very hot. Overall the gym was warm. They did not have cable lat machine. Limited cardio machines. I felt for $25 day pass for a small gym was ridiculous. Did not get a good workout . Too cluttered and too many people .

When I first walked in, it felt like the gym was more interested in my wallet than in welcoming me. They asked for $340 straight up, which covered the first, last month's fees and a $99 initiation fee. For a gym of its size, it seemed a bit much. Bottom line: it wasn't the best experience. If you're thinking of joining, just make sure you're okay with those upfront costs.

    s. harassment's from Reggie. awesome gym but there is this trainer Reggie that trains clients at this gym. he trained me and spent a lot of his time flirting and hitting on the women here, i think its bad for business and the women i know that he hit on no longer go to this gym because of him. i no longer go to this gym due to this man, he is a bad face for the gym and they seem to allow this behavior. management seems not to do anything about his behavior.

This gym has a great selection of weight machines and free weights. It is however a little small and doesn’t have any private locker rooms (something I have never seen in a gym). The price for membership is a bit much for what you get but overall the equipment available is decent.

This is hands down the best gym in Tampa Bay. The unique equipment they have works every muscle possible. The staff and trainers are friendly and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend a membership if your serious about getting in shape!

Can't go wrong by choosing this gym. Open 24/7, very clean, and it has all the gym equipment necessary for anyone to get in a good workout. The owner seems to always be there finding ways to make the gym a better experience, and is constantly ordering better equipment to stay up to date. I used to go to other gyms in Tampa and spend way more money, but found a good home at Optimum Gym. Ashley and Ruben helped sign me up, and both are friendly to me each time I'm there. It isn't the size of a national chain gym, which is actually a good thing, and they also take members opinions to better improve the place. I've read a few of the bad reviews of this gym, and I personally disagree with them. I pay the same amount as all the other people I know who go there, and the owner is nice to me. This gym is certainly worth joining if you're in the market for a new place to train.

Worked out here for almost two years. Great selection of machines and vibe was fun. We did personal training at a super affordable rate with Neil and saw great results. Only left when we switched from a training membership to a monthly membership which was not worth the money. The facilities lacked amenities and cleanliness for what they wanted per month.

Got the best leg pump of my life here! Was great to workout here a couple days on a day pass while on vacation, wish we had this chain back home in Ohio!

Amazing gym!! From the staff to the equipment couldn’t be happier to have found it. Ruben the manager was helpful and responded quickly to all my questions. Doesn’t feel like a big chain gym and it’s nice to find a place where everyone is actually serious about working out. My favorite is the equipment available especially for legs and glutes. I moved to NJ for work and only wish I had a gym like this here. Will definitely visit every time I’m in town. Highly recommend for anyone in the Tampa area! You won’t be disappointed.

Amazing facility with a huge variety of unique equipment. If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a killer leg day in Tampa this is a must, the employee at the front desk was super helpful, gave me a tour of the place before my workout and broke down the membership costs for me… Happy to have found my gym home!

Gym & equipment are kept in great condition. The staff are friendly and responsive. There is a nice work-out culture in the gym with a lot of serious bodybuilders and plenty of space to work out.

I’ve been coming for over 2 years. Love the old school body builder vibe. Staff is friendly, open 24/7 to members. Every guest I’ve brought loves all the leg and glute machines.

Best gym I’ve ever been to! My trainer holds me accountable, it’s affordable, and such a welcoming environment. Has every piece of equipment you need. Coming from someone who is gym shy this is by far the best experience I’ve ever had! Thanks Optimum

Optimum has been my main gym for over 2 years now and I’ve never felt more comfortable while working out. The owner continues to upgrade the equipment and keeps the gym tidy and clean! All of the staff have been welcoming and some know me on a name basis. With it being more of an intimate sized gym, very rarely is it over crowded. People are in there for a reason and you can tell! I’ve referred 10+ people to Optimum and all have agreed that, they love their new gym! This will always be my main gym for as long as I live in Tampa!

Stopped in town and went here for a lift. Wow. This is a gym rats dream. Such a variety of machines to choose from! Could be in there all day! Wish they would get a bigger space so it didnt feel so crowded in there from all the machines but overall super awesome gym!

Optimum is by far the best training and fitness center in all of Tampa and further!!!! I’ve always tried to stay away from the $10 chain gyms, and I have found the place where I feel the most motivated and so comfortable. They also have the best machines, and are always adding new fun ones! 10/10 recommend

Great old school gym with a huge selection of equipment, lots of machines you don't see often especially for lower body. Had the best workout of our holiday here!

The best equipped gym in Tampa. When I moved down I checked out 4 other gyms and this is the one that stood out to me. It has the best equipment, staff is friendly and environment is great!

Optimum is the best gym in Tampa! There are so many machines to use for all body parts and you never have to wait to use them like you do at EOS & Crunch. The gym never gets super crowded, so it’s much easier to get a good workout in. I highly recommend!

Love this gym, small but packed in with all the equipment you need. Not many cardio machines but it’s not a cardio focused gym.

Owner Joe did a terrific job getting us signed up and working out right away. He was also really pleasant and helpful. The gym makes excellent use of the available space, and a lot of the equipment is multifunctional, which is really neat. Would advise taking a look thanks..

Absolutely awesome gym for those who want a great environment to really get a great workout in. Excellent equipment options all around for people of all experience levels. Staff is also incredible, especially Ashley, who runs the day-to-day! Biggest perk is that the gym is 24/7 365! Would never think about switching gyms, best spot in the Bay!

I just love this gym. It has all the equipment and professional training needed to get you in shape. Try it by yourself!, you won't regret it!. You will get motivated and great results either with a personal trainer or by yourself if you know what to do. Excellent place, clean and great customer service as well!!!

Lots of machines, free weight areas were a little small but they still have everything you could need. Staff was super nice and very helpful.

This gym seems to tailor to women body builders and has a lot of good weight lifting equipment, but they don’t even have one full elliptical machine. They have a half of one with stationary arms and it’s always being used, it’s rare you find it available. Not to mention this half elliptical is being balanced with other weights on the left side because it almost broken from all the use. If they really want to attract more females they should get some real ellipticals.

I’ve been a member at Optimum gym for the last 6 months and it’s been an absolutely wonderful experience! The owner and all of his staff are helpful and kind. The gym has everything you need for any lifting style and is clean and well maintained. The environment is welcoming, non-judgemental, and a safe space for both men and women. I love Optimum and would recommend it to absolutely anyone!!

I honestly was hesitant coming to a gym, I don’t typically work out but I’m glad I found this place! They’re very welcoming and the equipment was very nice, I’d definitely recommend this gym for anyone who’s looking for a gym to feel comfortable in. Also very friendly staff and great location!
