So patient and positive and explained everything as we went through training so I could repeat it when I was by myself. 3 lessons in and Amaya is so different because I am so different with her handling. This is our 4th trainer and she has worked with us very slowly and at Amayas pace.

Ann was a stranger the first day she walked into my home, but it was as if my dogs already knew her, or perhaps that she already knew them. In the very first hour, she solved a problem: The very large puppy learned not to bark at me and jump at me as I prepared her bowl. Good behavior sped up dinner! Because of Ann, I can now look at my dogs in the backyard – land of sticks, squirrels, and possums – and see two golden retrievers who come bounding toward me via the simple command of “leave it.” Even the 8-month-old knows “drop it,” thanks to Ann. I can make the puppy “wait” while I feed the cat. It all happened with positive reinforcement, not a single training collar or harsh word. Ann takes her job seriously but with levity. (Once meeting her, you’ll wish she was a neighbor.) She is organized enough to send course notes immediately after her visit, but flexible enough to accommodate a new priority. I found her through a large rescue group that is very particular about recommendations, and now I know why Ann made the short list. I will be eternally grateful for her talents.

Ann is my 3rd dog trainer. My previous trainers were good but I was so impressed with Ann. I can go on and on, but I will make my review short. When I initially talked to Ann on the phone, she was very patient with me with a lot of questions and walked through her service dog training in much detail. Through her 5 sessions, our dog learned so fast and here is why; Ann was very patient, kind, professional and pleasant to work with. The lesson plans were structured, her explanations were easy to understand and after each lesson, she sent out a recap of lesson with an optional reminder practice alert. She put us on a success plan to begin with. Someone like Ann, who is genuinely devoted to her work, is hard to come by. If you need any kind of dog training, I highly recommend Ann to be your trainer. She is simply the best in my opinion!

We completed a training package with our German Shepherd puppy, and choosing Ann was the BEST decision we could have made! We found out very quickly why she was so highly recommended to us by our vet. The fear-free approach was incredibly important to us, in general, but also especially considering our puppy’s disposition. Ann is highly skilled as a fear-free trainer, with a ton of experience. We had new concerns pop up throughout training and she always had great strategies to try. We opted for the virtual training and it was perfect for us. We worked directly with our puppy and she observed and gave feedback. She was also able to demonstrate skills with her adorable dog, George, as needed. All within the comfort of our own home. Not only did our puppy learn a ton of new skills, we also worked on her socialization, enrichment, and anxiety. Ann is absolutely phenomenal. She is very kind and generous as well as patient and knowledgeable. She prepared a personalized plan for training based on our needs. After each class, she sent a summary of the class with practice points and detailed explanations on how exactly to practice. She uses positive reinforcement and is very compassionate. Every day between classes she sent practice reminders via text and checked in to see if we had questions. She really cares about her clients and we were so very lucky to have found her. She is very detailed oriented and has very keen observation of what is needed. She goes above and beyond even taking videos to show you exactly what is happening and what needs to be done at what exact moment. We highly, highly recommend her.

Ann is a phenomenal trainer. I can’t say enough good things about her. When we started our training our dogs preferred to march to the beat of their own drum and watching them improve and listen to our commands has been amazing. If you are looking for a kind, patient trainer that teaches you how to reward and praise your dogs, reach out to her for help. Our dogs loved her immediately and were always so excited when she’d walk through the door. Some of what Ann was able to help us with were manners, not running to the door, barking and jumping up on others, teaching our rescue dog that people aren’t scary and learning to say hello on her terms, leash walking without us being pulled, not having the dogs under your feet while in the kitchen, healing and leash walking. These were the things we felt were most important for our dogs but I love that she took the time to listen and create a lesson plan based on their current behavior and our goals. I absolutely loved Dogmatics! Ann was extremely helpful and patient throughout our entire training. She took the time to listen to all of my needs and my dog's needs and then applied the appropriate training. We were able to complete the full training via zoom and it was just as effective. My dog is very nervous around people and I just wanted her to get the basic training so doing it over zoom was perfect. When the training was done, not only did she do basic commands but she started warming up to people around her. I recommend Dogsmatic to anyone!

Ann was the perfect trainer for my 10 month old puppy Maizy. Having never trained a puppy before she instructed me on exactly what to do and demonstrated it until I was doing it properly. She very quickly became Maizy's favorite person and it wasn't because of the never ending supply of treats. Ann was always available to answer my never ending questions. She was recommended to me by the behavioral specialist at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and was definitely the right person for the job. Things are moving along at quick pace with Maizy and I'll forever be indebted to Ann.

It's an absolute pleasure to work with Ann. Unfortunately, we got a brilliant puppy a little late( she was almost five months old); she was untrained and didn't even know how to walk with leach. However, our 10-year-old son had six sessions with Ann, and now the puppy has become a darling. Ann is prompt, reliable, accessible, and flexible. Ann is incredible! All of her training centers around positive reinforcement, which is a huge difference from many of the trainers in the area. Our dog (a very headstrong, protective, and reactive dachshund mix) had previously had intensive training elsewhere that relied on more negative controls (prong collars 😢) which didn’t stick. Wanting to have positive public encounters with other dogs brought us to Ann, and we’re so glad we found her! After just one session we started seeing a difference in our boy, he seemed calmer and more confident, which lead to easier walks (no leash pulling!). We continued training for 5 more sessions and by the end we were able to enjoy our walks and not be constantly worried about uncontrollable behavior. The training is simple to follow and easy to practice (and advance) on your own. I would highly recommend Ann to anyone, it turns out you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Ann helped me with my one year old, newly reactive, rescue GSD mix. I’ve worked with trainers in the past but only to reinforce obedience and manners. I had never dealt with a reactive/potentially aggressive dog before so I knew I needed help. Ann came highly recommended to me from my veterinarian who specializes in behavior problems. After listening to concerns Ann developed a specialized plan custom to my dog and his individual issues. We live in an apartment so being able to walk on leash and behave passing other dogs is important. With the tools my dog and I learned from working with Ann my dog has excellent manners on the leash, the elevator, and in and around my apartment building. This has greatly reduced stress and anxiety for both me and my dog. We frequently get compliments from other residents regarding his good behavior. Additionally, I have a very demanding and not so flexible work schedule and Ann had no problem working with me to find times to have lessons. I highly recommend Ann to anyone who needs training whether it be basic obedience or behavior problems like I had!

We were very pleased with our experience with Dogmatics. Ann was great to work with. We have trained dogs and puppy’s over the years but never in a urban environment while living in a high rise building. She was very knowledgeable about our environment and in addition we were surprised at how much had changed with methods today verses years past. We were so glad that we decided to get advice this time around. It made things much easier for us.

Finding positive reinforcement trainers in Tampa is very hard. I am so so happy that I found Ann for my Aussie because she has helped him and I learn so much through our training process. I highly recommend if you are looking for a positive reinforcement trainer who doesn't believe in scare tactics such as e-collars, choke collars etc., and instead uses psychology to understand a dog and how to train them.

I had the opportunity to work with Ann and my 9week old catahoula mix female recently. I thought I would receive training tools to assist with my pups obedience and development. What I could have not imagined was the wealth of wisdom, support, great communication and USEFUL product referrals that I also received as a result of our time spent with Ann. Even if you are not a rookie to pet ownership I expect that your mind will be blown with solid information to assist you especially if you are training a new puppy!

Ann and her English Bulldog, George are the perfect duo 🤩! I signed up for the puppy training sessions through Zoom (all virtual) and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made when it comes to my pup. Ann is professional, patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable, friendly, caring—I can go on and on. Before our first session, my puppy was THE chomping monster. I felt lost and frustrated. But, after one session, I learned so much about communication between myself and my dog and how important it is to understand how dogs learn. Throughout each session, Ann would demonstrate the commands with George then have me perform the same thing with my dog. As she watched, she was able to correct what needed adjusting and explained as she did that. Each and every time, she was able to teach me and my pup new things. My puppy is now a puppy who others compliment on for her good behavior and focus on me. One thing to note is Ann emails handouts that review what she went over in the last session which is super helpful—you have to do the work to see progress with your dog. And Ann provides all the tools necessary to succeed. I would 100% recommend Ann (and George!) for any dog training wants and needs.

We just wrapped up our 4 session training program with Ann and cannot say enough wonderful things about her and her training style. Ann listened to our needs as a family and tailored Archie’s training lessons to fit to our lifestyle and needs. She incorporated our active 7 yr old into the training and was always available via text, email or phone call whenever we needed support in between sessions. We have had the best experience training with Ann! We started training sessions when our puppy was about 10 weeks old. Ann gave us plan and pricing options which helped out tremendously.
