Lovely little place run by the most charming host, Tina. My wife, daughter and I moved to Penang a few months ago and have been to several good eating places. But this one is special. Lot of warmth and plenty of heart. And the food tastes awesome because of this wonderful mix of the right ingredients and involved hosting. The recipes have been sourced from her mother and other family members. It feels like a good home cooked meal. In fact this little place is set up with some restored furniture belonging to her family. Tina took the time to explain the dishes and also some of the more unique drinks that she serves. We were lucky to eat some of the tastiest food in our time here in Penang thus far. Our favourite was the stir fried eggplant. We opted for the vegetarian version of this dish. Cooked to perfection with the right amount of spice. The Kapitan chicken curry was rich and flavourful and the portion size was generous. In addition we also had the in-house special of Nyonya Nasi Ulam cooked with Basmati rice. So colourful and with so many accompaniments, each one telling its own story and yet coming together for a tasty symphony in your mouth. Our drinks - iced almond tea, iced lemon and sour plum and the lychee bubble - were fabulous and so refreshing. She also stocks up some real yummy biscuits both sweet and savoury. We took a pack home. Tina was a joy to talk to. She has so many experiences to share and is interested in knowing about her guests. She's also mindful of the need for family time when we were eating the food. We pray the five-month old Tina's Kitchen does really well and also hope that Tina is able to keep up her unique blend of kind, discreet and involved service. It will keep bringing us back.

We chanced upon this unassuming gem due to the rain coming down just as we were about to explore the night market scene at Kimberly St. Tina was at the entrance and invited us to give her a chance to try her grandma handed down Peranakan home cooked food recipes. We're glad we did because everything we tried was excellent and the price was so affordable. We had the stingray, egg plant, pig's stomache soup, nyonya nasi ulam and pork trotters. Amazing food and amazing place. Wish we had discovered it earlier, rather than on our last evening there. A must try place!

Nice place run by an amazing and passionate lady, Tina, made cosy by her wonderful service. The bubur chacha was full of ingredients and my mother particularly adored the purple tapioca jelly in the dessert. The sweetness of the dessert was just right and the Luo Han Guo drink was full of punch. We also took away the muffins which were a modernized rendition of ma lai gao (马来糕) back to Singapore. These ma lai gao muffins are perfect for breakfast or snacks at tea time. They taste good on its own without steaming too. Texture of these muffins was soft yet dense and once again, sweetness was ideal. They were devoured as soon as we could. We will be back in future to try the other dishes for sure!

Finally had a chance to try the bubur cha cha. I have been craving for bubur cha cha since the Cny day 15. Typical Chinese in penang loves to eat this on Cny. Bubur cha cha is not bad. I like it to be abit more sweet. the red red jelly is good. Is so hard to find good bubur cha cha with this. Tina (owner) mentioned that her food is everything she has eat since young . Whatever her grandmother prepared for her. so is kind of home styles cooking. if you love home cook style and healthier version. should try this place. I will try again for sure.

Super sweet and friendly owner who took her time to explain the menu and gave me fantastic recommendations. The place is tastefully decorated and has really cool custom made tables made out of sewing machines! The food was tasty and quite excellent, I highly recommend you stop by if you are in the area.

Tina serves some of her mother’s delicious recipes from her childhood. The bacon and prawn fried rice is to die for! And the fried cream cheese bites are amazing.

During my three-day stay in Penang, I had the pleasure of dining at Tina's restaurant each day, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. Tina's culinary creations have a remarkable ability to bring happiness to anyone who savors them. It's evident that every dish is prepared with meticulous care, using high-quality ingredients. The food and drinks were not just delicious but a true culinary delight. Our conversations with Tina added a warm and personal touch to our dining experience, making each visit memorable. I‘ m eagerly anticipating my next opportunity to dine there again.👍 I also packed a box of steamed Malay cakes to enjoy on the plane.😋

Recommended to all! Excellent food and service! Bubur Chacha was just the way I liked it - perfect sweetness and more coconut milk. Bikor Moy was something new to me that was recommended by Tina and was a very pleasant warm dessert in the wet weather. Wished we found the shop before we had our meal as there were many other home cooked food that looked so good. Amazing atmosphere in the store and very aesthetic vintage decoration. Tina also provided superb service and took good care of my family requests. Highly recommended and will be back again, thank you!

The ambience at the restaurant was homely and peaceful, a contrast to the street food stalls outside. The lady boss was very polite and good in recommending their signature dishes. We ordered the Kapitan chicken, Lor Bak, Furong fried egg and stir fry vege. The food were simple but very tasty homecooked food. Although the food was on the pricier side and portion wasn't very big, we were very satisfied after the meal.

Lovely lunch at Tina’s Kitchen this afternoon. Had wings and the vegetable salad and both were exceptional. The salad particularly had a perfect ferment-y, peanut-y flavour and the vegetables still had a great crunch to them. Don’t sleep on her in-house made tea either.

Local, healthy food served with love. Tina is a lovely chef who cooks the recipes that her mom, Mary, learned from his grandmother. I felt like at home and Tina gave me an explanation of each dish. I loved the story that she gave me and the experience of eating there. Aside from the interactive experience, the food was amazing. You could totally tell everything was natural, with a subtle taste that she achieves by avoiding added sugars, salts and nasties. She does everything on her own. I entered to buy something new and light to keep on exploring George Town but I ended up trying 5 dishes in total. Totally recommended.

The foods are perfect for both me and my wife. We had a romantice dinner with nice food, and a kindly owner. According to the owner - Tina, these are home made foods, including chili sauce. The foods and its story reminded me a long time ago in 80s-90s, when people didn't have enough food for living. And the foods here demonstrate the taste of yester years... i love the foods here actually. I absolutely will visit Tina's kitchen next time when I travel to Penang again.

Yummy food and excellent service. Tina was friendly and very accommodating to my husband's special request for no vegetables. Highly recommend the bacon and prawn fried rice. The littlest desserts were a lovely extra touch. Hope to visit again.
