I hiked down the main trail to the south overlook trail and then connected with the shoreline trail. I saw deer on both the main trail and shoreline trail and also a couple of armadillo on the shoreline trail. Interestingly there are crepe myrtles and some pecan trees also on the shoreline trail. The smell of cedar was present throughout the hike which I found refreshing. I reconnected to the main trail at the end of shoreline to get back to the parking lot. It was a beautiful day right after a cool front came through so although it was in the low 90's the lack of humidity made this awesome!

Eagle Mountain Park is the best place to get exercise in DFW in my experience. Over 7 miles of trails with varying terrain ranging from inclines to flat to semi steep declines, gravel, sand, dirt, grass, it’s great. There are mile markers and maps , color coded trail waypoints and great views. Overlook the lake or walk meadows or walk the lake beach, just a great spot. Not too many folks most of the time. Highly recommend. The Jaguar lives in the Fort Worth Zoo. Just seeing if you’re paying attention πŸ˜‰

Multiple trails to follow, some relatively flat and some good for a hike.

Nice wide trails with plenty of room for everyone, even on a busy Saturday. Lake views, and enough ups and downs to feel good about yourself. πŸ™‚ There were a few side trails to nowhere, so if you find yourself in that situation, just turn around and head back for civilization. Restrooms were of the porta-potty variety but they looked to be serviced on a regular basis.

It is a beautiful place and hearing the waves in the lake was like music to my soul. There are a lot of ups and downs though and most of the trails are not paved so I highly recommend hiking boots and a partner to walk with. Don't forget your water!

By far the best lake in the DFW area. Multiple places to store your boat or launch if you trailer your boat to lakes. Large lake with no fear of tubing with kids. Multiple restaurants on the lake that allow you to pull your boat up, tie your the dock and go in and eat. Holidays are never dangerous. Family friendly vibes and adult only coves as well. Highly recommend this lake.

Nice long trail. The trail is all dirt, and some sand. My husband and I walked the whole trail. This trail can get muddy after rainy days, so probably not good idea to come here for a walk. We seen armadillos, deers and lots of grass hoppers. There are two restroom areas along the whole trail. Wear good shoes there are some up hill elevation to walk.

Hiked 4 more miles and saw a lot of wild flowers, butterflies, birds (blue-winged teal, osprey, blue-gray gnatcatcher, white-eyed video, snowy egret, blue jay, Northern cardinal, great-crested flycatcher, tufted titmouse and more), several deer, turtles (Mississippi map turtles and red-eared sliders), a lizard (common spotted whiptail) and a skink.

Absolutely beautiful, graveled trails, and clean! Lots of wild life as well. Careful of snakes!

It is a nice park with lots of trails. I wish there was better signage of the trails as you are on them. Unless you carry your phone and a map on your phone, there is no way of telling if you are on the purple or the yellow trail, for instance, or where you should turn, etc Also I met at the park with a friend and she brought her dog only to find out that dogs are not allowed in the park.... so she had to leave him behind.

Great 7.4 mile hike this morning. Easy parking, good mixture of flat hiking with some incline and decline. Benches to sit and take in the scenery, no payment to enter. I’d recommend this trail as a good one to hike, walk, or run.

A very good place for treaking. Around 7 Miles track through uneven terrain. Cactus, deers and lot more. In-between, during the treak you can find paths leads to lake. Pets are not allowed. Entry and parking are free. Toilets are tub/ plastic container type. No restaurant at this place. So it's better carry your food and water. I visited this place in October on a Sunday morning around 7.30 am.

Wonderful park northwest of Fort Worth. This is hiking only. No dogs, no horses, no bikes. The trails are pretty well marked, and there are periodic maps around the trails, letting you know where you are and how far you are in relation to the main entrance. I would recommend hiking boots for those with weak ankles, as there are multiple points where you'll have to climb up or down on the path. Not like climbing a mountain, but stepping up/down a short ways. I considered it to be a moderate hike in some places.

First time I went I did not have a dog. Now I was so surprised to walk up to a big no dogs signs. Still an amazing stop but super disappointed that I didn't see anything online about no dogs

What a beautiful evening at eagle mountain lake, the deer were out having some dinner and it's amazing to see!

Very nice park. The trails have very moderate verticality, pretty spaced out with long flat sections. Probably the most wide and groomed trails between this, Cedar Ridge Preserve, and the Fort Worth Nature Center. Only problem I have is that some of the trail forks aren't well marked. Ended up wandering down quite a few service branches until I hit a gate. Most of the actual forks between trails are well marked with a "You are here" and full map, but every once in a while it's easy to wander the wrong way.

Went here March 17th 2021, it was windy yet a perfect day! Great walk. We had so much fun. Parking is small. We love the variety of routes and benches along the way. The only thing that would be better is a bathroom and trash cans throughout the park.
