I was quite disappointed that we couldn’t use the kitchen to cook anymore. That was the precise reason we opted to rent the apartment. The floor was a bit sticky at some places. No plastic bags in the dustbins. Malfunctioning pipe in one of the bathrooms. The apartments are also quite old. See attached picture. The floor also wasn’t that clean. The hotel was kind enough to give us an early checkin and late checkout. And the shower pressure is awesome!!

What can I say, this is the worst Marriott branded hotel I have every stay in! Marriott should be embarrassed to be associated with this hotel. I should have known, for 3 weeks prior to arriving I tried to get hold of the hotel via the phone, I tried calling 2 or 3 times per day for weeks and no one ever answered the phone!! As an Ambassador elite member I called the Ambassador customer service line and asked them to contact the hotel directly to arrange a taxi to collect me from the hotel, this was arranged but when I landed there was no taxi or driver to collect me! That should have been the second red flag! Well, they say a picture paints a thousand words, well the website makes the hotel look fresh and modern, it isn't! My room was very tired and tatty and the lights had a mine of their own! Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't. And the bed was so short, I didn't fit! Never seen a bed that short. The website shows a nice executive lounge, it wasn't open!! They called the small bar in the lobby 'the lounge' giving me a small slice of bread as my free food! It was a joke. Some of the buttons in the elevator didn't work, so you couldn't get off on your floor! Where's the safety checks?? Then there's the surrounding area, it's not good and very sketchy and I didn't feel safe working about so didn't. So I thought I would stay in and watch the TV, wrong! Hardly any channels and they all were such poor quality you could hardly see what was on! This was not helped by the 1990's size TVs! I have computer monitors almost as big as these TVs. This hotel is to be avoided, I will never return to this property.

Overall good stay. Things that can be better, 1. Toilet tiles are too slippery, the raised bump to the toilet is big with sharp edges nearly tripped myself for few times. 2. Non smoking room can still smell cigarettes at times. 3. No single switch to switch off all lighting at once. Knock myself over trying to access to each switch for each lamp. 4. Lighting above wardrobe can't be switched off if you wish to leave the wardrobe open at night. Overly bright at night.

Spacious room and friendly staff but not worth the money. Cleanliness needs improvement, room is too dim (please consider your lighting arrangement), and no elevator connecting the basement parking and rooms or lobby. A bit let down for a 4-star hotel carrying Marriott brand name.

I requested check in on 8am the next day right after I booked the room within 12hours. They manage to arrange and tried their best to make it happen on 9am. Thumbs up. They did a very good job. The ytl cleaners are very helpful and polite. Thanks ..

Marriott should be ashamed by the service of this Marriott branding hotel. No room service, not sure if this is standard at all AC Hotels. Was given plastic cutleries and plates when I asked for it. Woke up to hammering and drilling at 8am. Apparently there’s renovation going on. How could you not informing your guests beforehand or put me further from the floor you’re renovating??? Cleanliness not up to standard. Mould in shower. Dust on furniture. Overall, not recommended. Not worth the price. Never again.

Good stay, room in need of renovation Apparently the property is in the process of being converted into a full AC Hotel. At least there is another hotel name under this address, the Grab driver also knew the other name and one or the other amenitiy still exists from the predecessor hotel. Accordingly, we are generous in our assessment of the condition of the rooms. These are simply in need of renovation. Everything is still reasonably in order. But stains in the upholstery of the chairs, cabinet doors that are warped or loud vents in the bathroom indicate the corresponding age of the equipment. On the other hand, the lobby and the restaurant have apparently already been renovated. Because there everything shines quite modern and new. The staff was very friendly throughout. As a status guest, we got a great room upgrade. Breakfast was also tasty, although the selection was not particularly large and somehow strange. We did like it though. Perhaps because of the conversion and the renovations that seem to be going on at the moment (but we didn't notice), our room rate was very reasonable. Unfortunately, you are always accompanied by a certain level of noise in the hotel. Be it the ventilation of the air conditioner, or the exhaust air in the toilet, a fan somewhere on the floor or the street noise from outside.

My husband and i greatly enjoyed our time at AC Hotel. The room are comfortable, elegant and clean. The staff are friendly and attentive. I stay for 3 days and enjoyed it very much. The location is perfect and close to bukit jambul. I hope AC Hotel continue to maintain the cleanliness and their excellent services. I will definitely come here again. Here i share a few nice picture about this hotel.

Stayed two nights here recently. Basement parking is vast, so no worry if you drive here for your vacation. The interior of the hotel look fresh, clean and modern. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Kudos to them. Due to Covid 19 SOP measures in place, Grab n Go breakfast was provided in packs, either Western french toast and croissant or Eastern nasi lemak or fried mee hoon, with tea or coffee. Not too bad given the current situation. Not close to any popular Chinese food courts to get your fix of Penang streetfood - char kueh teow, hokkien mee, etc! Only negative experience was that the wash basin in our room clogged constantly. This was rather annoying. Overall, strongly recommended to locals and foreigners!

Apartment/Condominium service that provides complete facilities like a hotel. The place I stayed in has 3 rooms, there is 1 king size bed with toilet inside, 1 queen size bed with toilet inside & 1 single bed with toilet outside. There is a living room, a dining room, a laundry room and a balcony if you want to see the atmosphere. I'm not sure about the price because it's free from my cousin. 😬 (didn't have time to take photos/videos of this place because I was busy with the wedding ceremony)

The check in took longer than expected. Suppose to clock in at 3 pm, but got delay to 4pm due to lack of staffs for housekeeping. Got breakfast and basements park. A cool fancy like lobby setup. A very nice suite and got a pool.

Room is clean. Front desk check in very slow. Breakfast not good and the waitress not polite and not professional. They left those used cutlery from previous guests without change a new set for us. When we requested to change, they did it and pretend nothing happened. Without apologize. Complain to front desk ...front desk advised us next time dont include breakfast. We reverted we wont come back here anymore.

I am very surprised with the attitude that their front desk treats customers, especially the lady who works night shift name Thana. I reached by 11.30pm at night after a long journey, witnessing how she ignore guests, and when it was my turn she was not helpful at all, just trying to chase me away from the counter back to my room. She did not want to assist in any question I have, nor any question the other guests have. Saw a few Japanese guests talked to her and she just ignored their queries. I have travelled to places, and this is the worst service that I have ever received! What surprises me more is that this hotel is currently owned by Marriott, such a big and great group that I have had a wonderful experience when I was in US. Marriott, if you have ever read this, please perform a quality control of your staffs, I am very disappointed and yet have to bear with such service for days.

Good clean rooms. The staff is courteous and makes good effort in helping guests. A room improvement is sorely needed as the bathroom sink area is totally void of reachable power outlets, which renders wired electric shavers, toothbrush, waterpiks unusable. The check-in system is also not very streamlined, which slows down check-in time and bogs down the staff when more than a couple guests appear at the same time.

Stayed in the suites this time (rather than the hotel side), very roomy and comfortable. Excellent service from the super helpful staff. Great breakfast. No restaurant dinner option nor executive lounge. Pool is very good and popular (kids will love it). Have run events here and stayed several times. Highly recommend

The hotel is so simple and the name. Everything is good and perfect except for their new parking system. Its kind of weird and at once i feel like I’m in Jakarta. Give it 4 instead of 5 because of your parking 👌🏼

I called them more than 10 times over different time frames, each time waiting on the phone over 10 minutes, to clarify my reservation, but nobody picked up the phone. I even messaged them on Facebook but no one replied. I really don't know what to do now regarding my upcoming reservation. I'm leaving this review so that someone from the hotel can contact me. I made my reservation online but I really need to talk to clarify my booking. Thank you!!

Hotel is very dated. The rooms often have a vibration from the condensers. Darkly lit and the paint is also not up to date. Doesn’t feel inviting at all with the exception of the reception area. Proceed with caution. Also, wifi is almost non existent in the rooms

Service is good, staff is patient, courteous and helpful. The extra sofa bed is very comfortable and convenient. However furniture in hotel room is outdated and very old. Size of TV is small and blur with very limited channels. Breakfast is average. Hotel's location is quite convenient with some eateries around and not too far from town center.

Generally alright experience for the price. Nothing too "wow", but also nothing major to complain about. We booked the 3-bedroom suite ("apartment" might be more appropriate), and it was spacious enough for 2 families with 2 young children each. The place felt a little dated, as a couple of things were old and not working too well, but to the hotel's credit, they did manage to resolve those issues during our stay. Cleanliness was generally OK. Parking was slightly challenging for us with a Starex which could not fit into the basement. However, we did manage to find a parking space within the open-air parking area on most nights. Walking distance to a couple of good F&B spots, so that was a bonus. A couple of misses though: - Requests took quite awhile. On a couple of occasions, we submitted requests at about 9pm, but only heard back from the hotel staff the following morning. - Swimming pool is small and perpetually too crowded. however, even more concerning was the light feature that had fallen off, with exposed cables.

Overall a satisfying stay. Good comfy bed mattress and clean toilet. The sofa in the living room is a little old. The breakfast buffet spread is good. Good varieties on the bread section with nice cheese platters. 3 coffee machines to choose from. I hope more improvement will be done on corridors cleanliness.

Worthy of a write up to acknowledge their excellent service. There are no hotels without challenges especially man power after Covid. However those who were around they were superstars! From manager Najwa, front desk executive Vivian and Josh, hand on my heart, it’s been awhile since I saw a team working with a lot of passion and commitment to their customer. Keep it up because this is how you build loyal customers. Looking forward to our next visit!

The AC Hotel Marriott in Penang is an elegant oasis that balances modern design with warm hospitality. The moment you step into the lobby, you're greeted by a minimalist yet inviting atmosphere. The rooms are a comfortable retreat, offering serene views of the ocean. The rooftop bar is a gem – a tranquil space to unwind while enjoying panoramic sunsets. What sets this hotel apart is its culinary finesse; the breakfast spread is a gourmet journey. The location offers easy access to Penang's attractions, making it a prime choice for both business and leisure travelers. In a place known for its heritage, AC Hotel Marriott stands out as a chic, contemporary gem that elevates your Penang experience.

There were some issues with the water supply in Penang when I visited last, and where I had initially planned on staying was impacted, so I needed to find a back up. As a Marriott Elite member, I figured I would stay at a Marriott property. AC Hotel by Marriott Penang does not live up to the Marriott standards around the world, especially for a 4-star rated hotel. Staff is not experienced, not friendly and do not communicate well. Check-in was not smooth - communication was awkward, and it seemed that this branch's system was not synced to the Marriott reservation system, so they had issues looking up my reservation and needed to create a whole new one. On the second day, when I needed to extend my reservation, the staff who helped me was also unfriendly and acted like he was doing me a favor by letting me pay for one more night. They also did not share details on the Elite member benefits, so I missed out on those entirely for the two nights I was there. Rooms: I got a two bedroom "suite", which really isn't a suite at all. It was clearly an apartment unit that was trying to be a hotel suite. The floors were clean, but the bedsheets had some stains on them. When I requested that housekeeping change it the next day when they cleaned the room, they made the beds, but did not change the sheets, so we had to sleep in the dirty sheets one more night. The cleanliness of the towels were questionable, because at one point we got our towels replaced with ones that were extremely linty and had a lot of fluff, and I found a sticker attached to it, which makes me think they were brand new and never washed. Safety was a concern. On day 2, we found the balcony door to our unit open, which led into the apartment unit's kitchen. However, this part of the "suite" was boarded off with a flimsy wooden sliding door, which can be easily broken into. We had to call maintenance to lock the balcony door, since we did not have access through the boarded off kitchen ourselves. I would recommend that you check the outside of your "suite" if you ever stay here to make sure that all doors and windows are locked.

Rented a room for 6. Rooms were spacious and clean. Plenty of eateries for breakfast around the hotel. Overall i liked the experience. Pool operating hours should be extended. The loud dance music at the gym is quite annoying though.

The staff was great. The wifi in the room was intermittent at best. I went to the hotel's business center. The printer was not setup. Both computers had been off line for 36 days. The staff told me they would have someone come in to fix it. It has been almost 2 days. I think the hotel is greatly overpriced. The location is terrible. There is nothing around here.

It's located outside the busy main road, but it is still convenient if you're travelling by car. There are restaurants, convenient store nearby which make it easier to find food 24/7. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment, it came together with small living room and dining area. Suitable for a small family.

I think this is a new experience in terms of sound proofing of the room. Being able to hear the snoring sound coming from adjacent room is a bizarre experience. Room itself have all the required amenities. Gym is 24 hours but air conditioning is weak and ventilation poor. Staff are friendly though check in could be faster.

Two bedroom apartment booked. Master bedroom is dirty. Master bedroom attached bathroom is smelly. Face towel has stains. Mattress in master bedroom is spoilt. Water dispenser is dirty with coffee and tea stains. Distance of apartment from lobby is not convenient for old people whom has walking problem. Parking is spacious compare to Eastin hotel. There are few food courts nearby with good local delicacies. Check in and out is fast.

Good Hotel medium category. Rooms on the main street too noisy due to the thin window insulation. Much better the rooms back, I suggest to ask. Attent and precise service. To go everywhere you need a Taxi.

Spacious room and toilet but smaller shower area. It has good spread of breakfast too. Carpark is available at their basement parking and if you have heavy & big luggage(s), it is best to unload at the lobby as there is no lift from parking to the lobby and you may need to carry your luggage through a flight of stairs.

  • 4/5 Abhilash K. 6 months ago on Google
A comfortable stay for the family. If you are travelling with kids, the 2 bedroom suites are perfect to stay together without the hassle of 2 rooms. The added dining room and small living room were also good. It would be better if the kitchen was left open so that light cooking could be done. The bottled water cooler and heater was a great advantage so you dont have to worry about water bottles for 4 people. The decor is very basic but clean. I would recommend this place for families.

Hotel although located near Queenbay Mall, but still need to avoid the peak hour to avoid the traffic jam. The parking lot are limited and charges are expensive. If your are the guest adn can get a waiver from the reception counter. A little bit trouble if Booked Suites, as need to take lift to 2nd floor walk over to the other area to take another lift to access to the stay suite. The rooms are ok. Provide 10 gallon of drinking water with despenser, the kicthen in the suite is locked and not allow to use. Asked the service crew to get the extra towel, plate/bowl and change the drinking water (as finished) act very slow to send to reach our suite rooms. Bed also concave when lying on the bed. Not so comfortable with it.

No lift from car park to lobby so make sure to unload at lobby. Booked premium king room for 2nights. On day of checking out, noticed had bed bug bites on leg. Breakfast was only of acceptable quality. Cafe is understaffed and the few coffee machines there produced inconsistent brew even at same grind, pre-brew and water setting. Floor personnel also did not refill water quick enough in machine causing many ppl to queue at other machine. Location of hotel is acceptable but need to spruce up many things.

Stayed for 2 nights. 1st night was very unpleasant. Not sure if there was renovation going on at the above level. The banging, knocking, and furniture dragging noise keep going on every 10-15min interval until past midnight. 2nd night still had furniture dragging noise but lesser. I was awakened by the loud closing door noise early in the morning (before 6am). Location: Not many restaurants and supermarkets/convenience stores nearby (walking distance). Service: There is free shuttle transport service in the evening from the hotel to Queensbay mall. It stated that we need to reserve seats from the reception. We did at the late evening for the next day slot, and we were assured by the reception that our name would be included on the list. But we were told otherwise when checked in the next morning. Pro: Newly refurbished hotel. Simple and modern style.

I stayed several times here many years ago when it was called Vistana and I remember that it was a good hotel with great staff. Now it is run by the Marriott group. Is it better? Can't really tell. It is an old hotel but fairly decent and clean rooms. Cannot comment on the breakfast as no buffet breakfast was available during this pandemic period. The hotel prepared prepacked breakfast for you to eat in your room or on the go. Limited selection but given the circumstances, it is acceptable. Overall, for the price of the stay, I am fairly happy with the hotel. My only complaint is the very dirty carpark area.

(Translated by Google) A Marriott group hotel with easy access, about 10 minutes by Grab from the airport. The hotel is positioned like a business hotel in Japan, but I think the service was good. Old parts of the hotel facilities can be seen everywhere, and some of them are broken, but they are also charming because they are cheap. However, when I pointed them out at checkout, the receptionist took notes and reported them to my boss, so I hope that they will improve in the future. The gym facilities are not very well equipped, so you can think of it as a light jogging. The pool is small, about 25 meters long. There were many beach chairs so you can relax by the pool. There are no convenience stores near the hotel, and there are food stalls and food courts where you can enjoy Malaysian food. One disappointing thing about this hotel was that the glass in the bar next to the reception was filled with black trash every time. If you order a drink here, you may want to check the inside carefully before enjoying the drink.

Hotel is great. Best ones I've ever been. Staying at 3 people room where everything is clean, spacious. TV works and if you don't want to see any shows on those channel, just miracast to the television. Their TV support miracast. Showers are okay. Bathroom vanity are spacious and even provide hair dryer, towels and shower kits. Shower condiments such as shampoo and body soaps are also available too! Pillows are super fluffy and abundance. Not stingy with free self making hot nescafe etc. Ah, they also give you an eating table and a chair so you can do your work or eat comfortably. There are mini refrigerator and wifi. 10/10 recommend. Nice stay for family vacation

    1) No guards at the entrance to stop the large group of people smoking after an event and cause disturbance to people to enter the hotel door and it is against the law. Btw, covid is not over and i cannot accept such act. 2) Room door problem eventually they change the door knob. 3) TV is a dinosaur age, small and blur. 4) Book this hotel through a phone call and I have another 2 rooms booked on the same day. Additional 1 room booking was made more than a week before arrival. Supposedly the additional room comes with breakfast despite I have confirmed with the person in charge numerous time during the phone call when the booking was made. Upon arrival and check-in, the hotel said this room didn't comes with breakfast and i have to pay separately. If i knew the additional room doesn't come with breakfast, I will book with another hotel. Inconsistency information was given. 5) Mattresses is aging and uncomfortable. I can feel the spring. Better to book with another hotel and more value for money. Not a Marriott standard hotel even though I understand it is an affiliate AC brand.

The 3 bedroom apartment is spacious and the bathrooms look good. The checkin staff was friendly and competent. Cons - 3 out of 5 airconds blowing hot air - apartment looks dated, dirty with weird smell in the pantry room - the lobby and corridors of the suite tower feels like low cost apartment - overall whilst it offers good value, i will probably never return because the negative vibes this place gave me, and its a mood spoiler a bit. Also honestly only the bathrooms are Marriott hotel standard, the rest of the apartment just feels so dated.

Pros: - Check in experience is good - The staff is very friendly even though it is the peak season for check in - Room is clean overall except the window. Cons: - I booked two rooms and both rooms are dim especially at night or you close up the curtain. Hopefully the management can fix the lighting issue. - Room’s windows are not clear and the stain is visible.

No room service available. Swimming pool was not accessible supposedly due to painting but no work was observed during stay. Did not feel like staying at a Marriot establishment. Rooms were clean though.
