I was in Kulusuk two weeks ago on a backpacking trip. My plan was to sleep under the sky in a sleeping bag. When I arrived, airport officials advised me to leave my luggage at the Kulusuk hotel. While walking towards the hotel with a 23 KG bag and three small camera + drone bags, someone stopped his van next to me. It was Jacob, who loaded my luggage into the van and dropped me off at the hotel. There, I realized he was the chief staff at the hotel. Despite not being his customer, he still took the best care of me in Kulusuk. He ensured that I was carrying a rifle and bear spray to protect myself from polar bears. He also made sure I slept in a safe place and had a good breakfast at the hotel. More than the town itself, which is definitely worth visiting, I will remember Jacob and his genuine care for every guest who comes to Kulusuk. I did tip him, but I don't think it was enough by Greenland standards. I have carried that guilt with me for the past two weeks. He requested that I drop it in the donation box for the school kids. I give the hotel and staff 5 stars. - Sanket Sharma (6/20/23 - 6/21/23)

The most remote hotel I've ever stayed in & the only hotel on the island. The location is surrounded with so much natural beauty and I found the locals to be friendly. The walk to Kulusuk village is a bit scary as in "you hope you don't meet a polar bear on your way". Fascinating landscape and so clean. I stayed here in 2015, the staff were disappointing and a frustrating wait at meal times as it's the only restaurant on the island too . The room was comfortable with incredible views. Shame about the rude staff.

I came to Kulusuk for hiking for the last five summers. The views on the way to DYE4 are breath taking beauty. And the spectacular view of snowy mountain and strainded ice near the airport harbor is my favorite. I enjoyed very much the Danish or the Oriental food of the hotel. The hotel manager Yakob is the best Concierge and the most helpful person in Kulusk. The hotel is near the Kulusuk airport (KUS) and the best choice for any visitors come to visit east Greenland.

Stranded in Kulusuk for 5 days due to bad weather. Plane can neither land nor take off. Hotel Kulusuk became a blessing in disguise. The GM Jacob and his friendly team hosted my friend and I. They took care of us with wonderful hospitality and food. The hotel was revamped during the pandemic. The revamped room was clean and cozy. There was free flow of coffee and tea throughout the day. I had the opportunity to explore the surrounding when the snow storm stopped. The landscape was pristine and beautiful.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while on a tour of East Greenland. We were met right away when we got off the helicopter from Tasiilaq for our ride to the hotel. It was 28 July 2018 The rooms are basic with 2 twin beds, desk and private bath and were clean and comfortable. We hung up some window coverings we brought with us after we read about the curtains letting in the summer light. The food was better here than in Tasiilaq where we stayed 2 nights as well. There was plenty to choose from. We asked for a cappuccino one morning and were told they could not make them there since they did not have the machine. To our surprise the girl working that morning who was from Poland (sorry I don't remember her name) came to our table with 2 cappuccinos. When we asked how did she make them, she said with a big smile, " I just experimented" while holding up a hand mixer that she used to foam the mike. The cappuccinos were very good. What service!! When we asked about tours when we arrived we were told to let them know when we wanted to go. Jacob called and set us up with a glacier boat ride with a local guy and his very cute 10 year old daughter as his helper. Since we were the only ones on this tour the guy took his time to let us really enjoy the ride and scenery. The next day John took us on the mountain tour drive. We and another couple were the only ones and John took time to show us other stops along the way. He let us stay for as long as we wanted on top of the mountain with the best 360 degree view of the whole area. I read some of the other reviews that complained about the service. I feel that the Kulusuk Hotel did a wonderful job. Yes, the front desk was not always maned but John or Jacob were always nearby to help. All the staff members were friendly. We even walked into the small gift shop that had no one there at that time and took the few items we wanted to buy to the front desk and John rang them up. Check out is at 10 AM but Jacob let us keep the room a little longer before our flight since there was not a lot of customers at that time. He even recommended a nice little walk to see the icebergs from one of his favorite spots till our departure time. He said it is hit and miss on the check out . He said one week they could be fully booked and needed to get the rooms ready for the next group of people then the next week only a few rooms might be booked. We had a nice time in Kulusuk and the Hotel Kulusuk did a great job with what they have.

Got a wonderful night of sleep here. Both dinner and breakfast were good considering their remote location. Would you like to try to keep it provisioned? I don't like salmon , but mine was very good at dinner. The rooms are basic, but I don't expect a five star lodging on an island off the Greenland coast in a village of 300. They were reminiscent of 1960's roadside motels in the States. Charmingly retro. The shuttle from the airport was a short ride, and we had a tour of the village and their small museum. All in all, a wonderful stay and experience.

This is a gem in the edge of civilization. The food is truly fantastic. The service is outstanding. The ride to the hotel is bumpy... but so are most roads in East Greenland. The views from the rooms are spectacular... The foreground of the picture with the fjord and ice was just 10 meters from my window from whichi took the picture.

I was a guest of this hotel for a week when bad weather and various technical problems prevented us from going to our destination Tasiilaq. The hotel welcomed us with cordiality in a welcoming and warm environment. The rooms are not very large but clean and functional. The manager went out of his way to make us feel comfortable during our stay. Good and plentiful cuisine. Thank you!

The nicest (and only) hotel on Kulusuk island. Very friendly staff, great variety of food. Had a great night sleep there. There was no tv channels in the room. Remember to borrow a riffle when walking alone outside.

Remote, wild but cool. This hotel in East Greenland is a good starting base for any adventure in the region. The food is good and the rooms are clean. The view is stunning if you have sea view.

Hotel Kulusuk is a wonderful hotel with even more wonderful staff members working there! The rooms are clean and cozy, the food is plentiful and delicious, and the staff is accommodating and helpful. There is also a common space with comfortable couches where you can read or play games, as well. Elvira took care of us at Happy Hour and dinner each night and Jacob was great to talk to and made sure we had everything we needed - they were just two of the amazing staff on hand! Jacob even worked at getting us a boat tour in when his normal boat broke down the day we arrived. Also, Jacob’s dog, Holly, lives out back and we had a blast playing with her and her puppies! One tip would be to bring a window covering or a sleep mask if you’re staying in the summer, as there is only a light curtain to cover the window. Overall, I cannot recommend Hotel Kulusuk enough - I hope to return again in the future!

Good hearty food, very friendly staff. Very good for such a tiny place as Kulusuk! Definitely not a cardboard cutout Hilton.
