It is a great festival. You should go there if. you visit Taunggyi during November. Only one point to note, the festival is over crowded with people and u can't even walk. So, go there before 4pm so that you can get a spot to view fire ballons clearly.

That place is populer for Fire Balloon Festival in Taunggyi. But I want to advise, the image of that place is not good at this time it must be change, for example Car parking, Landscape gardening, Clean and healthy Shop house, Smart Public Toilet and many many others facilities for local and foreign visitor. Why ? That is landmark of Taunggyi.

The Taunggyi Fire Balloon Festival is one of the most spectacular events in Myanmar's calendar. The balloon festival is part of Tazaungdaing, the buddhist full moon also known as the light festival, which celebrates the end of monsoon season. Taunggyi is the capital of Shan State, a region of several ethnic groups and languages, many of whom are represented at the event.

You MUST enter this zone of festival 3 or 4 hours early ‘cause the traffic flow is VERY VERY terrible and crowded. After all, ENJOY this special festival

It’s the last day of the balloon festival. It’s a great event for the local people! Before entering the ballon field, we passed by a long shopping street with many stalls and food stalls on the both sides. After walking around 20 mins, we arrived at the playground with pirate ship and etc. The ferry wheel was a manpower one. The kids climbed up and down the ferry wheels to move the wheel which we found dangerous. Then we arrived at the balloon ground. Local people were singing and dancing happily. Some balloons came with fireworks. To play safe, we would recommend not staying too close to the balloon becoz the fireworks would be at the bottom of the balloon. The festival started around 7pm until midnight. If you want to go to the toilet, so wear face masks becoz it’s not a so pleasant one. Be aware of your backpacks too. We enjoyed the whole night very much!

The Taung Gyi Fire Balloon Festival is one of the most spectacular events in Myanmar’s calendar. It’s a wild and unique adventure, complete with a man-powered Ferris wheel and a spectacular show. Event will start from 16th November till 22th November. Must visit while you're in Myanmar.

It's an amazing attraction of Taunggyi, Shan state, Myanmar. I had a very satisfactory, frightened period together with anger, worry and excitement. The place was organized. The Red Cross and and others including police were standby and active with emergencies

It used to be one of the biggest field in Taunggyi where fire balloon festival take place. After the coup, It seems Gov is building a local market inside it.
