CHIDORI has made my day. I had the pleasure of trying their Tan Tan Ramen and I implore you to try it. Spice level isn't too much so don't be afraid to give it a go. Best Ramen ever. Thank you!

Very delicious and unassuming. Wonderful ramen choices, and my gvo-to is the tantan ramen. You cannot go wrong with the octopus balls although beware: they are as hot as molten lava at first...

Tried this place because of other reviews saying it is the best ramen place outside Japan, though I'm not much of a ramen person. Their spicy tantan ramen was really hearty and noodles on point, so is the gyoza and takoyaki. The other ramens are decently but doesn't call out to me :) Minus a point because of the long wait to order and get served. Definitely worth a visit, from someone who has had ramen in Japan a few times.

Love their miso taste ramen and kumamoto ramen. Chicken karage (fried chicken ) is also recommended. It's the best ramen so far I try in NZ.

Omg, this is the great noodle and pork tonkatsu donburi Japanese cuisine. Clean, not expensive even water is great as well. If you like Japanese food, please come to try this shop.

Good central location, across the road from the mall. Street parking available at front it nearby. Very very yummy ramen and soup. The serving size is towards medium to small side, not sufficient if you are a hungry horse, but again, really yummy ramen and soup stock... good add-on options for your ramen, such as adding a boild egg etc. ample seats inside but during busy hours, there could be a wait. On a hot summer day, it can get very hot inside, especially after finishing the ramen soup. Did not see any air con system inside other than a small free standing a/c unit by the entrance. Regardless, highly recommended for others to visit and give it a go. This store is popular with locals and visitors from out of town too. Service is very friendly and with smiles. Will be back again.

Came here with my wife to get a late lunch at 3:15pm and the restaurant was closed for a break from 3-5pm… wish that was advertised in their hours on google and on the door of the restaurant, as we were starving. We decided to wait and came back at 5pm and ordered gyoza, spicy tantan ramen and Kumamoto ramen. Overall not my favorite spot for any of the dishes. The gyoza could have been fried more to give it a little bit of crispy texture. The tantan ramen was decent and is what I would recommend to order if coming here, but still felt like it was lacking in flavor (had a good touch of spice though). The Kumamoto ramen had a bitter flavor due to the spinach that was added. Also felt that both ramens should include at least a half of a soft boiled egg, as that is typically standard with most ramen bowls. Had higher hopes for this place based on the google rating and high praise

Visited here while travelling in Tauranga. Ordered their Spicy Tan Tan ramen, Kumamoto ramen (garlic oil) and miso ramen, as well as gyoza. All delicious. Broth for ramen were rich and tasty. Gyoza nicely pan-fried. I would definitely recommend if you love ramen and happen to be in town. I wish I could come back again to try.

As someone who's gone to Japan and eaten very good food there, I can say this is the real deal, the absolute closest to authentic Japanese you can get. Best Japanese restaurant I've been to in NZ, highly recommend.

Felt like a night out and without any planning rocked up to this restaurant for a Thai meal. We were not disappointed. Greeted warmly and seated where we wanted to be. I have eaten here many times and always enjoy the food but it was spoilt by the long wait of about 45 minutes. Staff didn't seem to care and said they were very busy but the restaurant was only about a quarter full.

Order combo according to the menu, but was charged with additional $6 instead of $1 for 3 dumplings. It’s kind of cheating!

Chicken base ramen. You have option of salt, soy, and miso flavour. The picture you see in this review is salt flavour. Very nice clear broth and great toppings. Noodle has nice texture too. 5/5 Highly recommended.

We had ramen combo, one with gyoza, another one with chashu don. They were both tasty, only gyōza was a little under cooked otherwise all yummy, and great value too. Kids friendly is another good point too.

Food is great as I heard from other people. The space is not that decent but I feel comfortable and cozy. I love spicy tantanmen but other foods are good as well. I am definitely enjoying this place, and visit here frequently. Only my hope is the noodle have more topping.

Delicious ramen and I think this is one of the best I have in NZ. The soup base is not as thick as tonkotsu but it is still full of favor. Karaage chicken served hot and crispy.

this traditional ramen shop tastes can even beat some ramen bowl in Auckland. I had soy chashu paitan ramen and my partner had the limited special ramen. Both broth are made with chicken and pork which is sooooo delicious. Chashu Pork is also great and authentic. And then, ramen was perfectly cooked to medium-hard which is my fav taste. would recommend this little gem to friends.

Found this lovely little spot in Tauranga that serves up authentic japanese ramen. You have all the staples but there are a few new and different ramens to try that aren't otherwise that common in the ramen landscape. Not expecting to find a place like this in Tauranga but it's all becoming cosmopolitan innit. Check it out if you want a quick casual feed.

Pretty average ramen shop, nothing special. Would not recommend it. Food is okay, but I can make even better at home, to be honest.

This place never fails to amaze me! The food is delicious and totally authentic (have tried ramen in Japan). My favourite thing to get is the paitan ramen with soy and the pork Donburi on the side. Also the squid is really yummy. The staff are so friendly!
