I am sure that Tokyo Teriyaki is still working on how to best tackle the busy demands during peak hours, so I'll have to come back to provide an updated review. This was our first experience: Let's start with the good: -The staff are extremely friendly. -We were seated immediately. -The breakfast menu looks good (and cheap)! -There are a wide variety of options, so pretty much something for everyone. After being seated, our experience soured. I'd like to think I have an abundance or patience and understanding since I worked at a busy mom and pop restaurant for years, but I'm just going to be honest with this review to help others plan ahead. Don't come hungry, come before you get hungry. Our meal came out 40-50 minutes after we had ordered it. Had we known it was going to take that long we would have ordered appetizers. We didn't put in an order for appetizers after we ordered since we held on hope that our food was on its way! But, I ended up eating a bar I keep in my purse for emergencies while waiting. If you don't do spicy food, don't get the ramen. If they say they can make it "not spicy," don't get the ramen. It comes out "mild spicy" -- which was actually quite spicy. I figured they would have used the soy based udon broth for my request for not spicy ramen, but it looks like instead the ramen broth was diluted from the original spicy broth....it visually looked spicy before trying it. Anyway, the waitress offered to make me something else, but I didn't want to wait 40 minutes so my husband ate my meal and I ate his in an effort not to waste food and to eat something since we were famish by this point. Neither of us like returning food, I initially took the waitress up on this offer but decided against it. I'm surprised they charged us for it after we waited so long and it came out not as expected -- not spicy. But it is what it is. My husband basically ate both meals after I had a bit of his to tide me over until we drove through Hardee's to get me something to eat afterwards. I hope to give this place another try, I am looking forward to having something other than American Food outside of downtown Mt Dora.

First time here and will certainly be back!! The food was delicious and the portion size was large and filling. We shared the House Fried Rice which was Amazing! I had the Shrimp Tempura roll…Wow! She had the Dragon Roll that was Equally Delicious! If you’re looking for great food in Tavares come check them out!! The staff was extremely attentive and more than accommodating.

Its rare to see japanese restaurant that does not focus on SUSHI. Japanese food should be rice meals and noodles. Edit* Dec 2023. ~~~~~~~ I reviewed about the serving size they serve. Upon trying out other Japanese restaurants around Lake County, I can say the food they serve is incomparable to the others. Quality and freshness of each serving is worth every single penny. Quality over quantity. (This restaurant offers good meals but the serving does not justify its price. Hoping they make changes with the prices or portion size.)

After seeing so many wonderful reviews we finally tried it. It was amazing!! Rice Bowl with teriyaki actually was flavored with teriyaki, not just favor and water. The Bento Box was more then enough for lunch. Can't wait to come back!

As you can see by my clean plate… my chicken teriyaki was VERY Tasty! The wait time I would say was definitely worth it, because the meals are fresh and cooked to order. We will be definitely coming back. 🙂

My wife and I went here for dinner and the food was really good. The menu had a great variety of items. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The portions and prices were also really good. You could get much better takeout from Tokyo Teriyaki and pay the same or less than most other fast food takeout places. We'll definitely be back.

what i liked was that the portions were enough, and not too much so you felt bloated, or had to get a to-go box. i got a vegetable teriyaki, fries, and seaweed salad. i liked everything i got. i took a star off for 'atmosphere' because there was some obnoxious channel they were playing that only played ads. put on some oriental music at the very least. it's not that complicated. except for the fact that i tried to hook up my mp3 player to their speaker, but it didn't work. could't get the bluetooth connected, couldn't play from the 1/8" audio jack. they were using a usb cable which i didn't have. bummer

This was my second time visiting. The food is excellent. The staff are extremely nice. The restaurant is very clean. Please support this locally owned establishment.
