Amazing paths, views and lots to climb and discover all around the fortress ruins. You can go up and down easily with the cable cart. The views from the top are really impressive.

The ruins are absolutely stunning - it’s simply breathtaking to walk around the remains of towers and walls. What’s even more breathtaking is the view - Tbilisi is a beautiful city, and you really get to see that from Nariqala. For anyone in Tbilisi, I strongly recommend a visit at this place

Fortress looks impressive from the city (especially at night, with the lights) but when you come on the hill it appears, that those are mostly walls and ruins. There is a church inside, but it’s not very different from others. There are of course nice views on the city from here. Walking on the walls could be entartaining (But it’s good to know, that they are not well prepared for visitors. For me that was no problem, but there are no safety measures, sometimes you have to even climb to go further, so that could be dangerous and problematic for people with limited movement skills - I can’t imagine it in the late evening, when aerial tramway is still working). It’s good to see fortress if you’re already on the hill, but I recommend more visiting Botanical Garden which is right next to it.

Narikala was Nicely located ruins tower over Tbilisi and provide a view of the beautiful panorama of the city. You can take the cable car from the city center. Tickets can be bought at the entrance or you can pay with a subway card. I recommend visiting on a sunny day.

We took the cable car to the fortress in the late afternoon and experienced beautiful views from up there. It’s free of charge but also a little under developed for tourism purposes, meaning the walls are not protected by guard rails so be careful if traveling with little kids.

Probably one of the most beautiful places in Tbilisi. After wandering the streets leading up to it, it offers a dramatic view of the city. What I really liked (though kinda dangerous) is that you can roam freely inside amd on the walls by day and by night. I rrally loved how one can linger as long as they want and just enjoy the view or take great pics. The site is accessible by cable car as well, but I think going on foot adds to its charm if you are a hiker.

Very impressive fortress with amazing views all over Tbilisi. Easily accessible by cable car. Free to visit but I recommend to go in the morning to avoid crowds. From there you can access both Mother of Georgia and botanical gardens.

Views Worth the Climb Narikala Fortress offers unparalleled views of Tbilisi, making the ascent worthwhile. However, it's true that the maintenance leaves something to be desired. It's a spot best suited for those with ample time to explore, as the historical significance and vistas compensate for its upkeep.

Climbing all the way to the top of the fortress is a thrilling experience when in Tbilisi. Gets the adrenaline up during the steep climb. The panoramic views of Tbilisi from the top of the fortress are spectacular. You can get to the fortress by walking up the hill or taking the cable car.

It’s a bit of a trek to get to the top but it’s absolutely worth it. The views are beautiful. Best part is that you get a 360* view of the city. Not just the front. You can see the garden/baths behind as well

A historic piece, built right on the mountain side. Beautiful architecture, an opportunity to climb the fortress is really a delight. Quite risky though, bring a solid pair of shoes

Main attraction here is the view over the city. But it’s nice to take a stroll along the old fortress walls. There’s not much information on the place itself when you get up there. You can either walk from the city to the top, or you can take the lift up there. Lift is 3 Gel per person. It doesn’t cost anything to visit the fortress.

The Fortress has a commanding view of the city, its iconic buildings, Churches, Bridge of Peace and the Mtkvari (Kura) River. It is accessed via a cable car ride. The Mother of Georgia is an impressive Statue when viewed up close. The Fortress is an impressive piece of building.

Amazing views from the top, lots of places to climb up and over. We walked up from the town side, and decided to take the cable car down for 2.5 GEL p/p. Was not too crowded, good walking shoes recommended. Free access.

If you want to take in all of Tbilisi at a glance, go up to this place. You won’t regret it. You can see the entirety from any spot, and it’s quite fantastic, but if you go up to where the cross is, you will feel the greatest joy. Go up, take it all in with your eyes, and take photos.

The best views of Old Tbilisi city as well as entire city is visible from this Hill Fortress.Use the cable car to reach the top and later visit the statue of " Mother of Georgia " and ruins of Narikala Fortress. If a avid fit trekker then this locale could be the start of a long trek into the Botanical gardens and beyond. You can't live Tbilisi without a visit to Narikala Fortress.

Narikala Fortress in Tbilisi is a historic treasure that offers a truly remarkable experience. Perched on a hill overlooking the charming Old Town, the fortress provides a panoramic view of the entire city, including the Kura River and the iconic Peace Bridge. As you explore its ancient walls and towers, you can't help but feel transported back in time. The fortress has an unmistakable aura of history, and the combination of its centuries-old architecture and the stunning vistas makes it a must-visit for anyone in Tbilisi. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a memorable view of this beautiful city, Narikala Fortress won't disappoint. It's a living testament to Georgia's rich past and an unforgettable spot for visitors to soak in the culture and beauty of Tbilisi

You can freely roam around and climb the walls, which means some spots need extra caution. If you're feeling adventurous, then it's definitely worth exploring.

It's one of worth visiting sites from Georgia's and especially Tbilisi's sightseeings. It's easy to get the on foot. After visiting church that is really beautiful, We climbed up to hills and had panoramic view of Tbilisi's old town. Note to be careful while hiking those hills, because there is no way between hills amd one has to climb literally on rocks. But still I enjoyed that.

Experience history and beauty combined at Narikala Fortress, an ancient marvel perched high above the mesmerizing landscape of Tbilisi and the Mtkvari (Kura) River. Strategically located between the city's famed sulfur baths and lush botanical gardens, this fortress is a treasure trove of Georgian heritage. This ancient marvel offers more than just history—it gives you breathtaking views of the city and the Mtkvari River. The lower court features the beautifully restored St. Nicholas Church, adorned with vibrant frescos. As you explore the captivating ruins, you'll feel transported back in time. Whether you're a history buff or just love great views, Narikala is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

The panoramic views of Tbilisi from the top of the fortress is spectacular. You can either hike up or use cable car. There are different paths by which you can reach the top. All with different views of the city. Your visit to Tbilisi is incomplete without making it to the top of this Fortress. Night views are absolutely stunning. Visited during day time as well. Both offers great views.

Narikala Fortress can be accessed by car, cable car or by foot. There are steps and paths leading to the Fortress. You can see the Mother of Georgia statue and botanical garden. The waterfall was closed when I visited. Nothing much to do. Good view of the city and the short ride of the cable car.

Such a fun and magical place ! A beautiful fortress on a large hill that you can walk around and climb different areas. The views of the city are wonderful. You can explore the entire fortress. There is a lovely church, shops and souvenirs. You can hike back down, take a cable car or the more adventurous can zip line down and land in the nearby Botanical Gardens.

Relatively easy walk up the hill, and really nice views of Tbilisi. Fortress is relatively intact, just wear long trousers if looking to enter the church. From here it's easy to enter the botanical gardens or carry along the hill to the Mother of Georgia statue

The city view from this fortress is amazing! We hiked all way to the top! We got lucky cause it was not sunny so it was not as hot as it could be in July. It was such a joy to sit on the top of fortress walls and enjoy the city city view!

  • 5/5 Faye L. 2 years ago on Google
The fortress offers stunning views of the Tbilisi. Too bad the cable car from rike park was temporary closed during our visit. We use BOLT going uphill at the entrance and took a walk going down and ended up in the I love Tbilisi sign and meidan bazaar

One of my favorite things I saw while in Georgia. Lots of little places to see, climb and experience. Awesome view of the city too

Great experience to climb up the steep heights. View at the top was amazing. Good to be in sports or tracking type attire. Not well lit at certain places. Need to be careful of old broken walls and some thorny bushes.

Beautiful. Offers great view at almost whole Tbilisi. You can get here either by foot, or by cable car. There are some restaurants and shops at the top.

Narikala Fortress was absolutely gorgeous! The views from within the fort overlooking the city was second to none (there are various areas in the fort that'll give you an expansive view). Look out for the different paths around the fort connecting to other areas of interest in the city. I would advised wearing good hiking shoes (went on a rainy day), if not for the traction then for the psychological comfort at least.

Superb place to visit. Excellent location and Georgian architecture. Ancient buildings and outside so many traditional shops are selling Georgian items. We bought a few. Traditional buildings and houses are so good and colorful. The location is good and there is a very large area. Tall buildings constructed by big stones and mud. The church inside was so good and peaceful. We need more than one hour to look around this place. The view point is so good. 40 min drive from Tbilisi.

Outer walls are the only thing, thats left from the fortress. Its possible to walk on the walls. To reach to some of the walls, you need to have a pretty good level of fitness. Because you'll have to use your hands also. And on some of the walls nothing stops you from falling down. There's no barrier or anything. Overall, this place need renovation to make it more people/tourist friendly.

  • 5/5 Afnan A. 11 months ago on Google
A must-visit when in Tbilisi. You can take a cable car, but walking up is so much better as you get to see the view and church from all angles. There are also good spots for pictures on the way. The view of the sunset from up there is amazing.

The trip itself is worth for the amazing view on the city. The fortress is not very well kept but extremely pictoresque and unique, so definitely worth it.
