Beautiful outlook. Food was very nice and service was fast as they were very busy. Decor was in keeping with theme of pub and looked great. Was there for Saturday lunch raffle. Good time had by all.

Caught a ferry from Nelson Bay over to Tea Gardens and very conveniently stopped/ tied up across the road from the pub. Strolled around aimlessly for a while till we did something sensible...got back to the pub. I had a few schooners with lunch, bit of a chit chat with my only facebook friend, took a few photos and caught the ferry back to Nelson Bay. Great pub, plenty of areas to have a beer.

This venue was great for lunch. The dining rooms were all completely packed on a Sunday but our food was really quick to come out. A huge range on the menu, reasonably priced and really delicious. A bit of a wait for the bar, but like i said, it was really busy. The staff were amazing and really friendly. We would happily stop here again 😊

Location is excellent. Pub on premises, cafes and bakery on river walk (50m) Rooms are cheap. Water pressure is decent.

A great location ....except.... All the motel rooms face onto the outside garden bar with full on children's play area. Ugghhh... Screaming children directly outside you door is. Not not what anyone wants at 8.30pm on a Sunday night. Soo disappointed. The staff told me that the children's play area is opened to 10pm every night. Ugghhh. . The pub is great, food is good. Get rid of the the kids play area. Cheers.

Was camping for the weekend with family. Had a fabulous meal, at a reasonable price. Was very busy as local footy team there. Met some lovely people. Service excellent. Will be back!!

Ben is very accommodating for when you need a room or some good old fashioned service. Very funny when it comes to his trivia stuff. The place has been revamped slowly and is very nice. It's a perfect place to get away and chill. The food is always fresh and delicious. Must go. And we always do.

Fantastic location to catch up with friends & a birthday celebration. Thanks to all the staff at Tea Gardens Hotel for making my mother-in-laws 70th birthday a night to remember! The food was delicious & fresh. The staff went above & beyond to deliver a fabulous milestone birthday, accommodating all requests & exceeding expectations.

Best motel in Tea Gardens. Beds were fantastic. Motel is attached to a Bowling Club and the Chinese Restaurant on site was one of the best meals I've ever had. It's a shame my wife and I were only passing through

What a place! We stayed here with our kids on our way up the coast & loved it. Rooms are beautifully styled, very clean & have super cute touches for the kids. Pub meals were 10/10, we both had the lamb shanks & couldn’t fault them. Amazing! Staff were super friendly, helpful & up for a chat & the huge play area was our lifesaver. Why don’t more pubs have these??? We’ll be back & we’ll be telling all our friends. Do yourself a favour & get to the Tea Gardens Hotel!

First time visiting the pub after reviewing the menu online. Get there to a much smaller menu available. You would think with the location and price you would get fresh seafood, although you see frozen bags of calamari in the kitchen. The schnitzel also said “house crumbed” but clearly could see it as a nice heart shaped one you buy at coles, I asked this to come with veg where all I got was broccolini. The chips was also cold. This is my first and last visit which Is unfortunate as the location is on point. Very disappointed.

Terrible pizza that I could have cooked better myself at home and horridly overpriced ($30). Service is basically non-existent. Raffle consisted of ONE seafood tray. Not impressed.

As previously described, rooms all face onto the pubs rear courtyard including outside stage. Extremely loud Saturday night, but had to be expected. Lovely location right on the water. The rooms are all new and refurbished.

Lovely setting, dog friendly beer garden, great food especially the fish cone, and lovely staff. Stopped by for lunch on the way from Sydney to Coffs Harbour - we’ll be back

Best pub meal in a very long time! Chips exceptionally crispy. Warm and friendly staff.

I didn't order any room service or stay here, but my family and I ordered pizza and calamari and chips. The pizza was disgustingly terrible, the base was burnt and so was the crust, making it unedible. There were barely any chips to eat, and despite that, there were only TWO pieces of calamari. Both were horribly overpriced, the pizza being $30 and was a waste of my money. Will never come back again.

Arrived for lunch lots of outdoor dining options some with a view. The meal however was terrible. The fish burrito was gross, and way too much large cuts of cabbage, (cabbage and fish really?) no sauce, fish was average. And trying to wrap the 'burrito' let's not go there.. The Asian salad was also basic chicken was too chewy. Chicken schnitzel and chips with veg were average. The vegetables were raw, and only just warmed up. Way overpriced for a pub meal. Would have a beer or two here but wouldnt eat again. Choose another place in Tea gardens for a feed. Edit: Regarding their reply to contact them which I then emailed them, I also received no reply. That was over two weeks ago. Do better..

Nice and very big pub in a great location. However the food is overpriced and one of the meals we ordered was overcooked (chicken).

Nice local hotel with very friendly staff and cold beer. Did not eat here but the food we saw looked good.

The menu on the website is not at all accurate. The website boasts “modern Australian fare” but the actual menu is very basic and classic pub grub. Tasty and well priced, but not at all what was advertised.

We caught the ferry from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens and decided to have lunch at the hotel. Because we weren't driving, we wanted to enjoy an alcoholic beverage as well. The hotel is conveniently situated right across from the wharf. When we walked in, the first thing we noticed was the variety of areas and availability. There is a huge choice if beers and wines. So we were happy. We chose to sit in the garden area. When it came time to order, the line was long. Due to efficiency of staff, we were served quickly, and didn't have to wait long for our food. My husband ordered the pork cutlet special and I had the fish burrito. We could not fault the food in quality, flavour or portion size. It was a relaxing, pleasant expererience and we can't wait to return.

Meetup here for dinner with family. Great location and an awesome little play area in the back for the kids. Food was served quick considering it was very busy but unfortunately the meals were not that great. They looked good but they were not very tasty. The calamari (that's what we believe it was) had a tofu consistency but tasted very fishy and left a bad taste in everyone's mouth that tasted it. The kids nuggets did not look like any nugget we had seen and even the chicken schnitzel left much to be desired (tasted like it had been defrosted and frozen and defrosted again) The ham burger was well received and enjoyed as was the fish cone. Would rate the location higher if the food was better. The food looks the part just needs a little more to make it better. Hope the current chef does not take offence to this review.

A good place to have a beer and a feed with views of the river. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of room to move about and sit. We visited the hotel on a friday. It could be more crowded on the weekends. Overall, very pleasant.

Location, food, menu, entertainment, kid friendly, spacious. This place has everything you want in a hotel and more. It’s often super busy yet food is served quickly and as good as ever. Highly recommend 😄

I asked them to chop the burger in half as I can't eat much after a recent operation, they didn't, I mentioned it, they said there is a knife over there pointing down the hall, so I picked up a knife and went back to the table. When I got back to the table and dug it out from under the chips, the top of the burger wasn't on the bottom, so we lost half the ingredients. We put it back together and cut it. It was the worst burger I remember having and the chips weren't cooked well. The whole meal was pretty pathetic. The beer was good though! Won't go back. There are 2 great restaurants on the river and several great takeaways there. That was the only bad meal we have ever had at Tea Gardens. so not my loss. He loses our money and gets a bad review.

We did not stay 8 of us went for lunch bar service was great but quite expensive 7.50 a beer. The bistro food was appalling pizza was burnt on the bottom soggy on top the children didn’t enjoy there nuggets or calamari? And my steak sandwich was only just 👎 plus 10% for Sunday. We live in Nelson bay went for a day trip and very disappointed with the quality in the Bistro 👎👎

Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon. Line up for the bar and to order dinner was long, its a popular place. We really enjoyed our meals and the food here has really improved since we visited years ago but the kitchen seemed extremely under the pump and staff seemed stressed out at both the bistro and bar....They were doing a great job and were all working super hard! Loved the woodfired pizza, we will be back next time we visit Hawkes Nest!

Went here for dinner. Had a garlic bread and salmon. Garlic bread and salmon were poorly cooked. Definitely not worth the price. bartender was fiddling around for 5 minutes before she could be bothered serving people.

My wife and I recently stayed at this accommodation for our 6th anniversary, and I must say, it was an overall great experience! Note: Friday night was live band night, and the band was blasting what sounded like heavy metal music or hard rock. We were warned it'd be loud and crazy, and they weren't kidding! It was hard to sleep that night as our room was close enough to feel like we were in the mosh pit with the crowd cheering on. So keep this in mind if you're after a quiet stay. It probably won't be an issue if you love that style of music though. I recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a fantastic stay in a beautiful location. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The service from the bar staff was good, however the food was definitely nothing special. To say we are disappointed would be a massive understatement! Came for a family day out to go somewhere that use to be amazing, and I can assure you we were definitely let down. The meals did looked good but they were not very tasty. And the portions size for the money you paid was disgraceful. Even a schooner of beer was $7.50 We started with garlic bread, the lemon pepper squid and seafood sizzle hotpot. Our starters were ready fairly quickly. Both the lemon pepper squid and seafood sizzle were small sizes. Yes, they were starters however for the money we did expect a little more. All of the starters were okay and we thought set the tone for the rest of our meals. However this all changed when our main meals came. The woodfired meatlovers pizza could of had some more toppings but the fact the pizza base itself was burnt and still doughy was very disappointing. The calamari in the calamari cone and the kids calamari tasted extremely fishy and left a bad taste in everyone's mouth that tasted it. The chips that came with the kids meals and the calamari cone weren't cooked through properly. The kids nuggets were also not cook enough. The steak sandwich although a good size portion was slightly rare inside and the chicken parma was also a good size but was dry. They did howevrr ace the sweet potato fries. There was a 10% sunday charge on our food. This is not mentioned the on menu but they do have a small sign at the register. All in all it was disappointing really. We were really looking forward to it and left really disappointed.

Happenstance led us to the bar and grill around dinner time. It was schnitzel ‘Snity’ night and the portion was generous. Paired with oysters and many pints of beer. The locals were friendly, talkative, and very cool. It was a very pleasant evening and would defiantly recommend if you’re passing into Tea GardensZ

If you are looking for comfort at a good price, this hotel works great. I love the home style of this place. I think the bathrooms can improve a bit.

Right on the water it's a good location to have a meal with friends or family. I had a vegetarian meal (poke bowl) which was very flavourful. Many locals go here for a drink and food. So the business must be doing something right.

Top place for lunch on a hot day, flat head fish and chips were ace. Beer garden shady, big and had great atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place for lunch

We had had a table booked, actually rang a second time to ensure there were vegetarian meals available, and to reconfirm. When we got there, no booking, we even checked the book. We were thankfully able to join some tables together under cover, as it did shower on and off. It was very busy. Menu was very limited for a pub. Some bar staff could use a lesson in customer service.Service at bistro was good, even though they were busy. Prices a little dear for quantity, but that could have had to do with it being Easter. View was great, play area for kids was really good, though no cover. Would come back to give it another chance.
