Simply the worst. I have reported them to the better business bureau for fraudulent practices related to their billing scheme and, bonus, racism. Heard a trainer talking to a gym member about how “George Floyd would still be alive if he hadn’t used drugs” and the gym member then used the n word without flinching. I will never, ever come back here

If I could give zero stars, I would!! Stay away! I signed up for a 3 month membership in November 2021.The gym facility itself is fine, and the staff on site were always pleasant and helpful. The issues are as follows: In the span of 2.5 months, I had 2 trainers who quit or were fired before I could use all of the sessions for which I had pre-paid. To this day, I still have 1 unused session & cannot get an answer regarding refund. At the end of the 3 months, I decided not to renew membership as I couldn’t justify spending $103/month PLUS annual fee, just to use the elliptical & weight room a few times a week. I called to cancel in February. They said no problem- that it would be handled by a manager in the morning. No one called me back, so I assumed my request had been honored. Then, around March 9th, I got a call from their internal collections department “ABC Fitness” regarding late membership dues. I explained that I cancelled my membership in February and hadn’t been there since. They apologized, told me they’d update their records but asked that I contact my local club to ensure this didn’t happen again. I called & was told I had to talk to a manager- they transferred my call to his extension & I left a voicemail for said manager, Ben Levitt. A week later, he still hadn’t called me back, so I blocked purchase authorization for AFC through my credit card company. I’ve called the gym 3 more times since (called after each attempted charge thereafter) and been told by different employees that my membership was cancelled, and they don’t know why AFC continues to try to charge my card. Each time, they tell me I need to speak with Melissa Martin or Ben Levitt (the managers), yet somehow they’re never there. Today, 2+ months after cancellation, THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD!

Ouch bad approach... I recently relocated to the area and this gym is literally within walking distance so I was excited give it a try and I was looking for a gym with a steam room and hot tub. I registered for the 30 day trial online and went in today 9/12/20 and met with one of the membership consultants (Sheree). Her approach was horrible. Very pushy and unprofessional. And she kept asking me the same questions over and over. When I pointed it out to her she started arguing with me and getting loud. As a first timer going in it was just too much. I would have been an easy sell given the close distance but she did a great job changing my mind. Ive been working out my whole life and have never felt that weird and overwhelmed visiting a gym. And I don’t even do reviews like this either. Y’all need to do better.

After very disappointing experiences with swim classes in several other pools, I finally signed up my son with Jackson at AFC Bala Cynwyd and could not have been happier. Jackson is a very dedicated teacher that went many extra miles when I asked him teach some extracurricular techniques & styles. He has a remarkably constant schedule; which is great (despite other swim teachers we had negative experiences elsewhere). My son has significantly progressed with Jackson who is a warm and very mild-mannered gentleman; so, my son clicked greately with him. I strongly recommend him for his teaching style, patience, dedication and pleasant character. Thank you Jackson and thank you AFC.

This gym is such a scam. They charge more than their contract says they'll charge when you initially sign, you can't get out of your contract before the year is up, and if you try to block your credit card number to get out of your contract, they'll take you to collections. I've never had a gym that wouldn't let you cancel your membership. There was also a man in the women's locker room once at the Bala Cynwyd location and when I reported it to staff, they were very invalidating about it. I want to picket outside of the building. If I could give them negative stars, I would. If I could lecture every underling that works there about meaningful work, I would. DON'T JOIN THIS GYM.

Lied to me about the membership. Refused to cancel with our charging me $800. I signed up for a 1 month membership and they locked me in to a year without telling me. Then they sent me to collections when I tried to cancel. Avoid this GYM!!! Now I see why it’s only rated 3 stars.

I’m thinking about cancelling my membership here. Two of the trainers do not treat all their members the same or with the same amount of respect. Jevone and Terrence are the trainers I’m talking about. It’s a shame because it’s a nice gym. But I’m going to a different gym where I will get better treatment.

I canceled my membership in March. I did this over the phone due to COVID19, I was refunded my March payment and that was that. Recently, I began getting messages saying a payment was overdue, which is weird considering I canceled my membership in March. I have not been to their facility since before February. When I called AFC to inquire, they said that my membership was never canceled and there is no documentation on file. I said well maybe this is because you were closed down and it was done over the phone... so I told them to look up the refund that was issued in March, they did see that so they followed up with the manager. A short while later, the employee calls back to say that the manager told her I have issues and to take it up with collections when they call. EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude! How am I being sent to collections when I canceled in March? This should not be my problem that they are unorganized with their clients records. ----- response to your comment: If my account was not in good standing why would you refund my bill in March? That makes absolutely no sense. I canceled in March and you refunded my bill to me - I have the bank statement to prove this and I know your employee saw this on my account as well. Prior to that, all bills were paid. I have sent an email and no one has responded, yet you have no problem addressing my concern here. Very unprofessional, yet again.

Wowww is an understatement. Right from the gate, front desk and membership staff made the sign up, and your super fun and easy. They actually personable and get to know your wants and needs. Their personal training staff is great, and are very hands on with taking care of you. Everyday I go I’m more motivated and definitely seeing results already within just a few weeks, into the now months. Thank each of you involved!

The most complete gym with the most kind and attentive staff I've ever been too. I began going just for rehab for a spinal condition, but absolutely had to join the gym upon seeing the amenities, meeting the staff, and seeing what I could there aside from rehabilitation. 6 stars if possible!!!

Great gym, great trainers, and customer service isn’t that bad either. This is a great location for Tennis. They have a lot of tennis courts here. I don’t play, but I’ve never seen anyone waiting to get a court. Weights are well kept and so are the machines. They are very sanitary here. Awesome gym for a awesome price.

I called for swimming lessons and specifically requested a female swim instructor and the person I spoke to said that I could come in to pay and meet the instructor. I arrive the next day this chick with brown and color dreads was talking to another female and when I explained what was told to me she says the female instructor was not available. She acted like she didn’t even care to try to find out what was going on. Then I asked for a supervisor she said she was the operation manager and she didn’t even try to find out who told me what as if I was just coming of the streets. I was coming in to schedule and pay as well as meet the instructor. Totally unprofessional. Not happy and will be going elsewhere unless this is fixed.

One of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever patronized. From waiting until the end of a six-month renovation of the basketball court to disclose that it would only be accessible at an additional cost, to enabling personal trainers who publicly curse out members, to taking no accountability for the incorrect information provided by its other employees, AFC has demonstrated that it stands for nothing other than profit.

The Lower Merion Soccer Club runs their winter intramural soccer programs inside of AFC in Bala Cynwyd. The facility is perfect for our needs and their staff has been excellent. It is nice to have younger players able to play soccer indoors and not outdoors during the winter months. They have a nice turf playing area.

Our High School Baseball team has used AFC Fitness Bala for the past few seasons and can't think of a better facility. There is a large turf area with a high ceiling for fielding, portable mounds, and two full size drop down cages. The most amazing part of AFC Bala is the staff. From the COO to employees who are on the front lines, everyone is courteous, professional and happy. I have had several interactions where we needed something or were asking for help and the communication is always swift and fixes any question we need answered. Top notch facility, top notch staff. We love using AFC for our workouts and clinics for youth baseball as well.

Worst management ever. I was miscommunicated that my membership was month to month but later came to know that they had made me sign a contract. I was able to exit the contract by paying a cancellation fee as I had a medical reason and documentation but they never accepted their mistake and said that I was always communicated that it was a contract. Be very careful when you sign up here as you are stuck up with this gym for a 1 year contract and you can't cancel it. I would recommend joining a gym that has month to month plans or contracts that can be cancelled out easily with a small penalty.

I’ve had a great experience taking classes at AFC Fitness - Bala Cynwyd. Antione challenges us with creative exercises in his class “Train Like an Athlete”. He’s great at motivating and coaching us. I’ve also had a great experience with Lonnie in his class “Boot Camp”. He’s fun and creates challenging circuits for the group, even mixing in outdoor workouts.

This gym has really went down hill. Very shady practices done here. I recently added group fitness training to my membership. The manager Ben said he would add it to my current membership for $35. He ended up adding it for $40. When brought to his attention he said he would adjust it and never did. Fast forward - I had to go into the gym in person to have the group fitness removed all together. I had my service animal with me and Ben informed me that certain areas of the gym are off limits to me since I have a service animal which is discriminatory. He was very nasty and cocky towards me. It was embarrassing. I will Most likely be canceling my membership here.

AFC is a terrific fitness facility. Sometimes I'm in the mood to just run in and do a 30-minute workout - cardio, stretching, balance, etc. Other times, I'm in the mood to join a class for great sweat and some laughs among us. Done and done. It's a spacious, clean facility that offers whatever you're in the mood to do for your health and fitness.

I think I’m done with this place. First of all the price increased $20 monthly. The cleaning is sub par and now I heard that they shut off the steam rooms an hour before closing. I really think I’m gonna go back to the Y. At least there they don’t shortchange their own members. Plus it’s cheaper.

Not the worst, but far from the best. For the cost, there are a lot of other amazing gyms in the area that are in better condition and are a bit cleaner! This gym just looks, feels, and smells old. The one in Bryn Mawr is definitely nicer.

Fantastic gym. Great employees and trainers. I switched here once Sweat Fitness Manayunk closed and I'm almost happy it did or I don't think I ever would have switched since Sweat was within walking distance. If you're looking for a gym with a great community and a lot of exciting activities going on every day, then check out AFC. EDIT: My original review largely stands, but many members here have very poor gym etiquette. AFC has an agreement with SJU and many of the students members are extremely rude. They are not the only one, however, as many older members are just as rude. This is certainly a minority of the members, but it can get extremely frustrating from time to time.

This place is great until you move away and try to cancel your membership. I haven't gone for 4 months and have tried to cancel my membership 6 times. Marissa F was supposed to get back with my multiple times but NO ONE has called my back why the keep charging me over $100 a MONTH. It was the easiest thing in the world to sign up but try to leave and you wont be able to.

I love this gym! I hesitated to join b/c of the monthly cost, but it has been well worth it. It is always clean with sufficient space during the pandemic. Most of all, I LOVE the variety of workout equipment, both cardio and strength. The staff at the front is always friendly, and the sign-up process with Omar was quick and easy.

AFC Fitness is one of a kind in the Philadelphia Area. It boasts 10 indoor tennis courts, a full basketball court, two racquet ball courts, a fully equipped weight room with personal trainers available, two swimming pools and an Injury rehabilitation center. The facility is exceptionally clean and well maintained, with friendly staff available. Need your racquet restrung, drop it off for next day service.

I love coming to AFC the staff is very wRm and welcoming. Antione’s “Train like an Athlete” class is a true experience a great active workout. His attention to detail to everyone in the class motivates you to want to keep pushing throughout the workout. Never leave not disappointed about something. Many times attendants in ladies locker rooms watching spanish speaking TV with their cell phones plugged in the outlets that I would use for my hairdryer. If a medical emergency happened they cannot understand enough english to get help. No one in the huge weight room or fitness machine room today, Sunday, for help or if an emergency happened on the second floor. A skeleton staff on weekends but dues are substantial. New entrance but not enough HELP inside!!!

Place is overwhelming, especially coming from a small gym like planet fitness, lots of things to do at AFC. Prices are much higher at AFC that’s because of the amount of things you can do. I needed Child care they have it just $5 more each visit. Everyone seems friendly enough and are willing to help if you ask. Now I read many comments about canceling or 1 month free trial. Seems like many did not read or ask many questions before accepting the terms. After the free month you lose all promotion discounts and would have to pay the full price for the entry fee depending on the package. Which is a bummer because you would like to get those discounts. If you are a student you get a discount If you go while they have a promo and wish to be a member then don’t get the free trial. My fee was $50 and $110 for each month after (2 people) (not including childcare) Price was reasonable for me. Hope this info helps other. Keep asking questions and read the terms can’t stress that enough.

AFC has been wonderful in many ways for me such as maintaining fitness, physical recovery, health and happiness, and a daily change of pace. Go when choose, Do what pleases me, meet new people without pressures. AFC is one of the most complete fitness centers I've ever experienced, physical rehabilitation, mind-bodybuilding state-of-art equipment, water and heat therapy. Just a nice friendly place to go.

I go spinning there. Rick's class Wednesday evening, and Robbies class Saturday morning. Different styles, different workouts, but the results are the same - maximum energy level obtained, and a feel good attitude about yourself. Best part is that you're in good company with your fellow riders. Try it, and I guarantee you'll want to come back. AFC Fitness has changed for the next phase of fitness. They have expanded and opening up a new facility. They are also adding one of the new most talked about craze to cross the waters. It begins with letters PAD! Go on their website and check it out. AFC Fitness is still evolving, and they have added a new facility that is going to open up in Radnor PA this coming summer. Also, they have completed renovated and expanded the Bala Cynwyd location. On top of that, AFCFITNESS has partnered with one of the newest and fastest growing rage to hit America in years, and it goes by the name PADELPHIA! It's a mixture of tennis, racquetball, and a few other nomenclatures thrown together. As I've said before, go to their website and check it out. AFCfitness is always improving to better serve their clientele. The staff is courteous, and you can be assured that as you enter the building, you will be greeted with a friendly smile from the personnel at the front desk. AFCFITNESS just opened its newest facility in Radnor PA. Some of the accouterments is a four lane lap pool, and a host of other amenities I'm sure you will enjoy. I'm spinning tomorrow morning (Monday) in Rick Williams class at 9:30am. As always, it's going to be a blast! Silver Sneakers has been replaced by Rally to better serve the growing senior population in maintaining a more healthy lifestyle. As always AFC FITNESS, being a leader in the industry is honoring the new program.

How they used high pressure sales tactic to try to scam me for $850. ( till now i am still not sure if the way to do it is legal or not.) I normally don’t write reviews because as a small business owner, I understand that businesses make mistake and always leave them room to grow. Most business are doing their best to serve their customer and mistake happens. But, the way this business have done things to me is in a way disgust me and I want to warm all of you out there who to be careful while deciding which gym to use. I signed up this gym around 2018 Jan-Feb.The gym was very ordinary and you can definitely get a better price or value in many other gym such is LA fitness, Sweat or any other neighborhood gym. But honestly, I was signing up there is not because I want the best deal for a gym. I just want to go there to hang with my friends while working out. So,I didn’t look at how much it cost me to join. I moved away around July 2018. So before I did, I went into the facility and told the staff I want to cancel the contract in person 3 times. Every time they told me i just missed the person who can help me canceled it. On the third time, the staff told me i can probably canceled it online, but she is not sure. She told me to call. Sure, I will call. I called few days later, and talk to the manager at this location. She told me I have to come in to cancel it, and I told her my situation and she said I have to come in and it is on the contract. I told her I have moved away. She basically goes, we don’t care, come back or we will keep charging you. I was very unhappy how she told me that she wants to keep charging me. So, I canceled my card. So, since then I have been getting harassing call from them every other day. So, i blocked their number, and the manager called me again from another number told me she will put my account under collection. I told her, I am willing to settle the bill. I can pay whatever you guys think i owe you, but i can’t come in. She said, she can’t do that. So, I hung up. After a month, I called them again, said I can pay you guys a cancellation fee, as long as i don't have to come in. So she finally says okay, and said to me if you send me a bank statement or government letter says my current address and my name, with a check paying the balance. At that point was around august, and they tried to charge me $180. And I told them I will do that. So, I mailed in the address proof and an empty check with my signature on it. I thought it was end of it. Guess what! At the beginning of Dec 2018, I received a call from ABC financial collection department and told me I owe them $850, and if i don’t take care of today. They will report me and ruin my credit and etc. I was shocked. I thought I took care of them already. Apparently, the manager didn’t even use my check because i never got a check that charge around $180 - 200 from them. And I was never contacted either. If any other person was in my shoes, would probably got scammed by them and pay them $$600-850 which is a lot for a lot of people who is making average income in US. It is very unethical for them trying to flip a $700-800 contract to another $850 after half of the contract already paid. As what they planned to charge me, $850 + 5-6 month I already paid which is well over $1k. Personally, I am very well educated in sales and well aware of a lot of sales tactic so I was able to bargain down to $300 which is pretty normal for a cancellation fee. If any body who has no experiences in sales, and no idea how the credit system work, they could be easily scared and scammed by these people. I want to warn everybody and do not use this gym and try out sweat fitness in manayunkm which is 10 min walking through the bridge. My friends try to canceled their service at sweat and it was not this difficult. And they didn't go after my friends for $300 like these people do. AFC fitness spent the past 6 month to try to get me pay them $300 which is very pathetic and stupid.

I had previously recommended this place and can no longer do so. Sunday, 1/7, I was at AFC in Bala. Some obnoxious man was lifting and speaking so loudly it was as if we were all in HIS personal space. Then I realized what he was ranting about- “fat people.” He went on for a good 10-15 minutes essentially yelling about how awful “fat people” are and how “they shouldn’t be allowed in hospitals” etc. Another male member joined in with his two cents - more verbiage against “fat people.” And then a TRAINER - AN EMPLOYEE OF AFC - joined in and laughed along with them. That was my final straw. I went to complain to a manager. First, the towel girl literally laughed out loud at me as I spoke. Thankfully, the manager took it 100% seriously and went up to do something about it. (Towel girl later did acknowledge this was “wrong” and “discrimination.”) Ever since then, I have been trying to cancel my account because I don’t want to be involved in an environment like the one I witnessed. Inclusion is extremely important to me. I’ve been in touch with someone in corporate, playing phone tag and emailing - I have repeatedly asked to have my account canceled without any response to that specific request. If I was a member who didn’t witness this, I would certainly want to know about employees engaging in such talk- a gym employee should be shutting this kind of thing down, not egging it on and laughing... I’d be appalled at such behavior in any gym but am especially shocked it happened at a more “upscale” facility like AFC.

I use to love coming here. But due to the government shutdown I was the only one working. I told them my situation n also found myself having to move to be able to afford a place. I spoke with Omar he would speak to his manager to see what could be arranged. He told me I would not get penalized for a 5 to 6 months due to my circumstance. Now I'm getting hit with automatic payments. Thanks for not honoring your word and killing my credit card. I wish I was given a heads up so I could ask my family to assist me. Despite the government still coming back on it has negatively impacted us and were still catching up as well as moving. Being honorable is no longer a trait that aqua fitness center cares for as long as they get paid.(UPDATE- The manager was able to fix the problem.)

Stay away! At first I really liked this gym, people are nice equipment is decent. That said, they will make you jump through hoops to cancel. I signed a 1 yr agreement and tried to cancel. The only way I was able to get out of my contract was by sending a certified letter or by coming into AFC to sign a document that could ONLY be signed at the facility. Total ridiculousness, this "document" is in their "system" and cannot be emailed or sent out in any way. Super disappointed in these policies... I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone!

I was charged for 6 months after cancelling my membership even after paying the $100 cancellation fee. Paid $485 for no reason and they are still not taking care of it despite me calling several weeks ago. Please check your credit card statement closely after cancelling. Called for 2nd time and it they are asking me to come in to speak to the person, Ms. Myers directly. I have to spend my precious time for this. 2 months later, I still did not receive a refund. The managers Ms. Myers and Mr. Beyer are always busy and in meetings when I call them and I have to visit between 9am to 1pm. I asked them if they are just avoiding my phone calls since I can wait on the phone until they are available. When I went in person last time, none of the managers were in the building. I also agree with the other review that they do not show you or email you the contract. There is screen on an ipad you sign but you are not able to review anything. I signed it thinking it is for my credit card to be charged but I guess it was the contract. I also see a 5 start rating written by Mr. Matt Beyer who works there. Please be careful people. Update: I can not receive a refund for two month's worth of charges since the cancellation policy does not allow you to cancel unless you move or have a medical reason. I can provide a plenty of medical reason and provide MD letters but will not become like this place. Nobody has showed me the contract and I have not seen a copy signed by me.

What an amazing place! The club and its staff is by far the best around and the price is really is amazing for all you get. There are plenty of low cost gyms in the area but if you are looking to get the most for your money this is the best gym on the Main Line. New renovations look awesome

Great gym, and love the fact they have child care. That was the main reason I became a member and figured child care was included for the price that’s being paid whether it be $80 monthly or $250 yearly, but nope child care is extra. So for all the mothers out there looking to workout and have child care at the same time, this would be for you if you don’t mind paying the extra fee($5).The crazy part about it is when I went on the tour I kept raving about child care but not once was I told I would be charged for it, and they don’t even change your child while in child care. Didn’t know they charged until I received and text from one of the team members saying I had been charged for child care/babysitting and my next visit will be free. Honestly all visit should be free if child care is needed for the price being paid.

Be careful of bogus cancellation policy. I didn't entirely read the fine print and got robbed for an additional two months of dues. Here's a couple important ones... 1. Need to cancel in person or in writing 30 days in advance. Cannot call or email to cancel. 2. Month to month requires a minimum of two months membership

It is not clear where the entrance is. There should be more signs starting at where cars turn into the lot to guide patients to the proper entrance. Also, the staff should be informed about transgender patients and the use of gender-neutral pronouns.

Aquatic Fitness Center. Very misleading name. You would think this place must have two or three big pools but instead they have one little 5'x5' pool. that's all. Their website also has many misleading pictures; there is no five-lanes Olympic size pool or mega-cool looking fitness room. This is just an average place. Ugly-looking outdoor (it used to be a warehouse by the river) and inside is all crammed-up, some tennis courts, one small pool, a small weight room and ok locker rooms.

Very Bad Customer Service. I had to move Out of State due to my job change , so I emailed AFC on Nov 12th 2016 to cancel my membership but AFC, OVERCHARGED me $69.00 for extra month. They Charged $50 CANCELLATION FEE as agreed upon, but why did you overcharged me for Extra month?? You got your cancellation fee, but why overcharging my friend ?? I requested AFC to reverse back the overcharged monthly fee of $69.00, but AFC General Manager says " "We did not hold you to the full term of your contract and we also cut the cancellation fee in half that would normally be owed. There is no refund owed on this account, but we do wish you the best of luck with your move! -- You too Good Luck AFC.

Not clean enough, broken equipment, overpriced and gym rats are clueless on disaplines. Could be great. They have pool and some times use pool for Aquatic Therapy. Just not as good as it could be if they knew what they're doing. Their PT is Mickey Mouse. Good racket ball and sauna.

They have a basketball court that’s only open court on Sundays, and only 3/4 of an open court at that. But, seems like only “special” members can use the court when it’s open court. This has happened to me a handful of time but today was the last straw. Clearly the calendar says open court and baseball lessons start in two weeks. Meanwhile, special members can do whatever they want. As you can see from the pictures I’ve posted, “special” members took over the court while I was using it, and when I brought it to the staffs attention nothing was said or done. As usual.

I️ am a 60 yo registered nurse at physical medicine and rehabilitation.I️ joined AFC because I️ was looking for a way to restore my health after giving 50 hours a week to help our patients. . The location was good and I️ had a friend who went there through silver sneakers. I️ was turned off by the aggressive highly pressured membership approach. Later came to find that the small print and hurried pressured style caused me to miss an annual fee that is charged above membership and most importantly the small print about illness and injury. It has been a costly stressful nightmare that is still not resolved. It uncovered what I️ tried to ignore the questionable business practices aimed at taking advantage of people and keeping them in a headlock while charging them. As a nurse in physical medicine I️ was instrumental in adding Aqua Rehab to our recommended facilities only to find out that my patients are pressured to join the club. The most appalling and potentially life threatening incident occurred when I️ brought a friend with me. During his work out I️ noticed he got pale I️ was able to catch him as he fell backwards and lost consciousness. When another member held my friend I️ ran out to find staff and had to leave the gym and go downstairs for help. Luckily my friend had only fainted and came to. The true horrid nature of this place became more real when I️ had a serious injury and had to put my membership on hold. The small print coupled with their focus on it magnifies the attitude and priority of this facility which is to take advantage of people and their desire to become fit. Shame on you Matt Litman CEO and wealthy owner . I️ seek to be recompensed and to hold you accountable for my horrible and very stressful experience with AfC .

I've been a member of AFC for 5+ years and never had a complaint! It seems that negative reviews are of people who have never had to experience memberships with any gym facility, period. Unfortunately, certain things are true of the industry, not necessarily AFC! The price of AFC and location is GREAT! Also, all staff is incredibly friendly. Quality of the machines and weights are also very good. The staff and trainers all say hi, are vey helpful and recognize new members. Great clean well-run facility.

I’ll start with the good...pretty clean gym, locker rooms are nice although they do construction while open. Trainers are knowledgeable. Never had anything stolen, clean locker rooms (wife took pictures of the ladies locker room, looks 10x better than the men’s.) offer many different activities. The bad... Starting from when you walk in. Front desk doesn’t know how to speak to members, are always clueless to questions it’s always “let me ask a manager” Sales team are also a let down. Attempting to cancel your membership, good luck. Guest policy is you can bring a guest once every 90 days or something like that. As much as we pay I should be able to bring 2 people every time. The free towels smell and have stains on them. Homophobic trainers, overheard a gentlemen saying some words that shouldn’t have been said. Some of the trainers have an ego bigger than their own muscles. And trust me most of the trainers are not in shape. The housekeeping staff is really friendly but you can tell they only hire minorities for the job. Talked to a young gentlemen who was new and who I see cleaning the men’s locker room to the core and I asked him how much he was making and it just doesn’t seem fair for the work that they do. I believe the one lady named Berta who is the sweetest lady should not be working there the way those managers talk to her in my opinion. The place is meant for wealthy white people and their tennis kids. They also have an “executive locker room”’ in the men’s locker room which is for even more wealthy white members. I really hope if anyone from management or corporate sees this they will do a better job with some staff and other things. Former members

Love this gym community, the people working at this facility are the best, as a disabled Veteran, I've been in some hell holes overseas, the staff is always ready to listen and help with any questions, I've read some of the negative comments about this facility, so let me say to the people who say they had a poor experience, I want to know when you find this unicorn gym your looking for, and I'll still put AFC up against your perfect gym any day...HOORAH.

Major scam here - they lure you in with the promise of a free trial month, then tell you to forego the free trial in exchange for a "lower" monthly rate. They probably have the same rate whether you take the free month or not. Then, if you situation changes and you need to cancel before a year has passed, you're completely stuck. Who knew a small local gym franchise could be so unfeeling. The actual contract is scanned over and over until it's barely legible, so even if you do want to review it after the fact, you can barely read what it says. You can't access your own contract online, you have to have it mailed to you (why? to deter people from reviewing their contracts is my guess). The contents of this contract are purposefully convoluted and confusing, and give AFC carte blanche to charge you "administrative fees" even if your account is frozen. I noticed they stopped responding to reviews about a year ago - they gave up caring what people think. They have a bunch of complaints on Better Business Bureau, the details of which are "unavailable". Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.

Was a member over a year ago, staff are friendly but management don't care about clients or their complaints made several to no avail so I left. and they still had money taken from my account up until a few moths ago had my attorney threaten the with litigation. Stay away

Very disappointed went for a swim 1-2 was open swim for members according to the July fourth scheduled on the App. Although the hours of operation was 8-2 and as the receptionist “stated the pool always closes an hour before the gym” then why would the app schedule claim otherwise! The app, flyer, and email, should have stated the official time the pool closed for it’s member. The receptionist told me I “can file a complaint after watching me grab towels, allowing me to get in the pool ten minutes prior to closing it! My complaint is you suck! Thank you very much!

AFC has provided a great facility for clinics for our Little League players. The turf field is perfect for youth baseball/softball practice and the service has been great. Highly recommended.

We love playing at AFC! It's a top-rate facility that's easily accessible from either the 76, or via the walking bridge from Manayunk, and there's always plenty of available parking. The staff is always extremely friendly, and the Sports Complex is one of the best in the area!
