The
lagoon
in
the
days
before
Tema
became
industrial
city,
collects
only
rain
water
from
a
vast
area
and
sends
it
into
the
sea.
Tema
is
now
an
industrial
city
and
the
lagoon
does
the
same
thing
as
in
the
former
days,
but
this
time
in
three
different
ways.
The
lagoon
collects
industrial
waste
water,
domestic
waste
water
and
rain
water.
All
these
go
into
the
sea.
Because
of
the
Tema
harbour
and
the
manufacturing
companies,
the
population
of
Tema
has
greatly
increased.
Domestic
waste
water
is
high
as
a
result
and
the
lagoon
collects
all
into
the
sea,
very
close
to
the
fishing
harbour
