We come here every year when we are attending spring baseball for the Padres and the cubs! We arrived at 5:00 p.m. and it took an unusual amount of time due to low staff to be seated. We ordered our favorite steak dish and the kids had their burger and chicken fingers. Lots of young people and the drinks were following, my table love top shelf Pepsi! Ping Pong tables and sweet and sour wings makes for a great night. Now we head back to San Diego and look forward to the next year!

It was first time in Scottsdale! Me and my friend came to this place for brunch twice in 2 days trip. We really love it! They have the best Michelada I’ve ever had! (they don’t use bloody marry mix, ask your server) Food was amazing too. Pretzel Fondue is die for!

Culinary Dropout is always a great time and I love taking friends there. The staff is super chill while also providing great service at the same time. They have always done a good job with their food and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there. I didn't even know they offered brunch on Sundays until I came in this Sunday and was very happy to see that they had a special brunch menu and we were still able to get things off the regular menu as well. There is also a great selection of on tap beers bottles and cans as well as other beverages to make it a wonderful day or night experience for your visit. The fact that they have lots of entertainment including live music and yard games means there's plenty to do you should not be bored when you visit this location of Culinary Dropout

The pretzels and cheese was fantastic. My meatloaf was good and my husband's chicken was great. The kids chicken tenders had a funny flavor like hot sauce so our granddaughter ate some of Papas chicken. Overall pretty good, but would like to see the chicken tenders changed. We'll go again.

The food and brews are delicious and worth it! The decor is also fun and unique. I've been here twice both at rush hour and before dinner rush. The wait wasn't bad either time and the staff was friendly too.

🍹 cocktail: we got the devil prince cocktail, it is so good! Love the fresh pineapple taste and tropical flavor, one of the best cocktails! 🥩 steak, the steak is very good, nice quality beef, tender juicy taste, they even cut the steak into pieces for you, very nice and convenient to eat! 🍣 salmon, the dish is a little bit small, but the flavor is very good. The source is just amazing. Cool environment with huge space, pretty nights. Nice service, a good place to go hang out with friends!

We were there for a private event. And the food was simply outstanding. I could not believe how fast the first and second platters of fried chicken went. All the food was really terrific. And the staff were all super friendly and helpful. Made for a great night with friends and family. 🌟 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Great restaurant! We made reservations ahead of time. We had an earlier weekday lunch so would’ve been fine without a reservation but by the time we left there were people waiting. The atmosphere is great and we really enjoyed our food. The jungle cocktail was delicious! Great service as well. Highly recommend!

Culinary dropout is a excellent place! It’s a good place to meet up with friends and family. It gets popping! Plenty of different options for seating and lounging. Wait staff is friendly and attentive I enjoyed the live music 🎼!! One of my favorite hangout spots/hideaway. Everything is delicious and portions are generous. I recommend you try the fried chicken. It’s valet parking only. It’s very trendy and it’s definitely a “vibe” I recommend you bring your friends and family to Culinary Dropout.

I learned that this is a chain restaurant with most of its locations in Arizona, and thought it was a spot with lots of great atmosphere along with good food! Many of the items are conventionally found in other New American restaurants, while other items are relatively innovative in such a place, and I happened to try one of them and was very satisfied with what I had! I ordered the spicy vegan curry and I was delightfully surprised because it tasted very much southeast Asian style with the curry they used along with the spices that I was able to taste! I enjoyed having the black rice in there which was something I didn't think about before but knew right away that would work upon seeing it. Some of the vegetables like snap peas, eggplant, and cauliflower are mostly used to complement the vegan aspect of the dish instead of for authenticity purposes, which is more than okay because the curry is the main star and it most definitely is! I tried some of the dishes my friends have gotten as well. The fried chicken portion was good and had good flavor! The seasoning didn't quite penetrate into the chicken and there's a bit too much breading at certain parts. The prime skirt steak dish and the roasted salmon both taste good with a good amount of seasoning. I think given the prices they can both benefit from having a bit larger portion on its sides, like the vegetables included or the fries, etc., or even a larger steak itself because a skirt steak tends to be thinner which already makes it a bit less worth it when a customer orders a steak that's over $30 and it's a skirt steak rather than a sirloin, if that makes sense. The strawberry and spinach salad was also surprisingly amazing! I am not a salad person so I ordered it due to my friend's recommendation and it was the right choice! Having smoked almond, goat cheese, raisins, and vinaigrette definitely did the work, because the combination of all of these along with strawberry slices, spinach, and lettuce just created this savory flavor that one normally wouldn't expect from a salad. Totally enjoyed it! I also want to say we had a very friendly server who was very humorous! I didn't get his name, but he definitely enhanced our good experience at Culinary Dropout!

First time here and it won't be the last! First, the place is like a huge barn, totally open great room with covered lights in a more enclosed but outdoor area for live music and dancing with showrooms for large private parties, very comfortable seating, the layout of this place is just totally casual and comfortable. TVs with games on are everywhere but it's not really loud for as much movement going on. Servers take their time to take care of you, very friendly, quick seating, perfect location so close to ASU! Total college hangout vibe! Ordered the pretzel appetizer with fondue cheese and it was $15 but so worth it! Was a huge portion to be a meal in itself, fondue was served with a lit candle underneath to heat it and it is a must have! I has the fish and chips for $20 with Cole slaw and fries-Cole slaw was just ok, fish fry was very good, fries a bit greasy, but all in all it wasn't bad. Iced tea is very good! Husband ordered the fried chicken with a buttermilk Biscuit (SO good!) And mashed potatoes with gravy....Yum! We asked if they served biscuits and gravy even though it wasn't on the menu-it was definitely the best Biscuit I've ever tried! I definitely will be back, but I want to try a different entree when I do return. The menu is smaller but definitely has quality and unique touch. Brunch items sounded very good too! Now the bill....for an appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 iced teas it was $70 after tax and before tip. That is a bit high, but I'm glad we went and it was a great experience.

The venue is unique and fun. The food and service was great. The only negative thing I have to say is the valet clearly didn't want to work they were just telling people to park their own cars while they stood there and chatted with each other. Which was fine, I'm not really a valet kinda girl but I did have to park really far away as a result since they were having a couple of events that night so they were busy. They had a huge section partitioned off for valet that you couldn't park in which was very empty since they were using it.

Culinary Dropout provides a unique dining experience in comparison to most restaurants in Tempe. I can say that no other restaurant comes close to catering to group events and accommodating a pleasant social atmosphere, the waiting staff is very laid back, friendly and always helpful. However to some including myself the menu can seem somewhat plain and lacking variety. The menu is also very hit and miss and the quality of food can often rely on choosing the right dish at the right time, which one would not expect at a location with limited menu choices. All in all you should consider going to Culinary Dropout for social events and get togethers due to its unique social design and friendly staff, but might want to choose another location for a mid day lunch outing due to its price tag and unreliable quality.

This place was absolutely amazing. I came with 3 people, we spent about $50 each this included the following: 2 entrees of the fried chicken that came with mashed potatoes and gravy as well as Cole slaw. 2 entrees of the pork rib dinner that came with a full slab and fries/cole slaw. Also 3 “snacks” aka appetizers (beets and goat cheese, pretzel bites, and bread with olive oil). 2 cocktails, a cider & soft drink. Everything was so well cooked and seasoned. The meat literally slid off the ribs and the chicken wasn’t greasy and well fried. I 10/10 RECOMMEND ✨

It is not your regular kind of place and that is what made it great!! Great french fries!! All kinds of different food. Casual and comfortable. Fun to have the train going by as you eat. Couches and fire pits are there. The place was hopping for lunch. Played some corn hole. Not a lot of parking.

I don't know where to start, I've lived in AZ almost 7 years and first impressions are EVERYTHING. Plenty of space available to park, Staff SUPER Friendly & courteous. The Pub Burger & strawberry lemonade were absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the Pink Cadillac Margarita. If you haven't been here I suggest you check them out you won't be disappointed.

Eclectic venue with similar menu mixing bar eats with finer dining. What really sets Culinary Dropout apart is their service. We have seen management take the extra step to ensure that any special occasion is remembered by taking care of meals or providing special deserts. They really work to please their loyal customer base.

Place is incredible. If you are looking a variety of options and this is one of them, I would strongly recommend you lean this direction. The grilled chicken club. Sounds boring, right? It’s so not. They made such a seemingly simple sandwich out of control good. The fries? Out of this world. Roasted Brussels Sprouts? Insane. Everything I’ve had here some simple to decadent has been incredible. I can’t recommend it enough.

Cute, fun date night or college hangout. Very clean, fun atmosphere, good happy hour, games, nice outdoor area, nice bar. Drinks are strong and well made, customer service was good. Food was good. One of my favorite places to go.

WAYYYY better than the location in Central Phoenix. Loved the venue and atmosphere! Great place for a happy hour with coworkers, friends, or family. Loved how the game room was between the two dining areas so you could just focus on dining and conversation instead of feeling like you're in the middle of the games like some places. Pork Belly nachos are fantastic and I love the pretzel bites with fondue cheese! Wish they had the same beers on tap in both dining areas - was disappointed I couldn't have a beer I had previously because I wasn't sat in that section.

This is a great place for small and large groups. Our wait was about ten minutes. CD has a decent draft and bottle selection. The menu is efficient and has something for everyone. I had a lite dinner and I enjoyed clam chowder and hummus. The chowder was a white broth but it was thinner than I usually see.

I come here with my mom sometimes for dinner and drinks. The food here is excellent. On this instance we tried a bunch of the appetizers. The deviled eggs were so good, highly recommend. The Deviant Behavior is my favorite drink here and I would recommend it to anyone! Super refreshing with a nice punch. You can have drinks and appetizers here or go all out and enjoy a nice dinner. They have live music sometimes so if you go on a busy night, you’re sure to have a good time. Only warning, there’s no cell service inside so don’t go and be waiting on an important call, you’re not getting it. Enjoy the ambiance!

Overpriced for the food you get. Very noisy even I couldn’t hear what my friend was saying. We all had to shout in order to be heard! Not convenient for dine-in at all. Don’t recommend it.

Their food is good, but it’s so hit or miss. More often than not the food isn’t great. They truly lack consistency. I picked up a Mac burger yesterday, got it home took a bite and it was completely red as if they had rushed to cook the burger on the outside, but left the inside raw. For context, I typically prefer my burgers medium/medium rare... and it was too red for me. Take your chances, but just know it may end up being a waste!

Hipsters as far as the eye can see. The food is good, but prices could be better. Parking is ample, and the staff doesn’t try to rush you out the door. Would like to see more low carb options. If you’re looking for a heart-attack-on-a-plate, this place won’t disappoint. This place is especially fun for groups.

I went here based upon a recommendation from a local friend. I went before 6pm on a Monday and the place was really busy already. I was able to find a seat at the bar and was greeted immediately. The beer selection is great. I had the deviled eggs for an appetizer and the fried chicken for an entree. The chicken was fantastic! I mean, not the best I've ever had but very tasty. I could see this being a great place to meet up with friends and would go again if I'm in the area.

Great place to come with a large group or for a date night! I highly recommend you make a reservation as it is always busy no matter what day it is. The pretzels and cheese are the best item on the menu. You could easily make a meal of them paired with a few drinks. The service is always on point and the staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The only thing that some people may not prefer is the noise level as it can get pretty loud. For us, 5 stars and we will be back.

  • 3/5 Jessica Jackson W. 4 years ago on Google
Food was decent. Made my stomach super upset though. Hard to tell who actually worked there. A little unappealing to have a server with a fishnet shirt on serving you. (And yes, this totally makes me sound old AF!)

With a large patio area, this is perfect for going out during COVID. We weren't expecting anything amazing, but we were surprised at the cocktails prices vs quality. For nicer bar food and not much environment, this place is overpriced. The server would only give us a few seconds to give an order and usually would dodge any questions on their personal recommendations.

  • 3/5 CuriouslyCory 3 years ago on Google
Portions were SO small for the price. 3 perogies for $10.50? Really? And listed on the "shareable" section. Food was okay, all presented very nicely tastes fine, but quality doesn't match price.

Great service. Food is all fresh and homemade. Was not to hungry so had fresh potato chips and onion dip, grilled rustic bread with olive oil and basmalic vinegar and a house salad with homemade ranch. All was 5 stars. Not 1 complaint. Saw other dishes go by cant wait to go back. Please give them a try.

I have been a fan of CD for several years, so I was thrilled to see the Scottsdale Quarter location come to life. The menu has been pared down a bit during the pandemic (thus the reason for 4 stars as I miss the s'mores dessert), but the staff is always on point and turn times for food and beverages is wonderful. A bonus is that valet is right across the street.

As a special treat, we decided to finally go since we've talked about going for so long. We were so disappointed with our first experience. food was just okay. Nothing great about it. Definitely had better quality food at other places for the amount we spent. Close to $5 for a standard fountain drink and received only a refill as we were about to leave. The decor was nice, but cold so we had to leave our jackets on throughout our dining experience. We will not be going back.

absolutely stunning beautiful spacious indoors. went there for brunch but brunch menu was limited. I should’ve reserved it for dinner. They have a good variety of drinks. so we just ordered some cocktails & their pineapple cider on rotation. It was too good. For food we just did the crusty, garlic oil & balsamic vinegar bread, it was nice. Will certainly return some day for dinner here.

Met friends for brunch and great conversation. We started with the Soft Pretzels and Provolone Fondue. Because it's a requirement. Then I ordered the Bread Pudding French Toast and a beer. The French toast was very sweet and could have used something salty to cut the sweetness. The Husband ordered the Turkey Pastrami and a passion Fruit Mimosa which he enjoyed thoroughly. Friend #1 ordered Southwest Breakfast Bowl and a Bacon Bloody Mary. Friend #2 ordered the 36-hour Pork Ribs and a beer. All and all everyone enjoyed their food. In the end it was great friends with wonderful conversations that made the experience.

Hands down the best spicy teriyaki steak!! Tried the roasted salmon but was not expecting sweet potato PUREE, I was expecting a whole sweet potato. I do not recommend that plate. Great atmosphere and great staff. Will make it one of my top 5 go to's.

OMG!!! Yo!!!! This place is the total dank. I ordered a Turkey pastrami sandwich and a salad what is the option I chose instead of fries. The salad was fancy lettuce and super good dressing, I’ve never had before. We also ordered a salad with Salmon and that also was “to die for”. So yes... t’was the best ever a.k.a. the total dank.

Fantastic bar with a lively vibe, great ambience, and top-notch service. There are also 3 ping pong tables that you can play on for free. Really enjoyed the cocktails and the entrees. Highly recommend! Update: visited again and the experience was just as good. Had the Roasted Salmon and the Fried Chicken, and the food was excellent! Two Birds One Stone is a great cocktail - check it out!

The food is SOO good!! The chicken sandwich was honestly one of the best we’ve ever had. The salads, shrimp, and pretzels with cheese are also amazing. The atmosphere is also really fun, perfect for groups and day drinking. The service was friendly but very slow, we had finished apps before drinks came. But the food was so good that it made up for it (plus it was a holiday weekend). Pictured: chopped salad, bbq chicken salad, chicken sandwich, shrimp bowl, pretzels and cheese dip. 10/10

Awesome restaurant. The food was delicious and our waiter, Andy was very friendly and helpful. Portions were just right and flavors were great. The shrimp salad I had was refreshing. Location is great as it's walking distance from the college campus and hotels.

Food is great, paying $62 for takeout without utensils or napkins or the sides for the kids meal is absurd. Maybe it was because we ordered at 11:30pm or maybe the dropouts should actually go to school and learn some restaurant management because this culinary graduate could do better without trying. Also, what kind of blue cheese is mostly water and cucumber and comes in 2oz cups for a 14oz salad made of mostly dry chicken. If something works as it is, don't change the recipe, just learn how to make it well.

Went here for Lunch and it was packed with people and groups waiting. We sat at the bar because we didn’t want to wait. The drinks were good, nothing too spectacular. The presentations of the drinks were lovely, however. The food had a better impression on me than the drinks. I had the chicken sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich wasn’t dry or too moist to be sloppy, it had a great balance and flavor as well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, a bit loud- but this comes with a crowd… Overall, it’s a nice place for lunch and as I was told a great place to hang at night.

The atmosphere is really nice. Cool lights. Cornhole and table tennis you can play. The food was delicious. We did the pretzel fondue as an appetizer, roasted salmon entree and the banana bar for dessert and it was all delicious. Our server was also very nice and helpful with our decisions.

The service at the bar was amazing. Both of our bar tenders were very attentive and sociable. They earned their tips! We ate at the bar also. The food took a lot longer than it should to come out, which left my salmon under the lamp for too long. By the time I got it, it was overcooked. The pesto was delicious as was the rest of the dish. I am not making excuses for them as I have no affiliation, but the place was wall to wall people. It was VERY popular on a Wednesday night. I'm willing to give them another chance in the food because the dish my friend had was perfect according to him.

The bar and restaurant is in a good location, and has very high potential. Large beer and draft list, good vibe, plenty of TVs, however, it stops there. We sat at the bar and it took about 15 minutes for someone to great us. At that point we put in food and drinks. Our drinks took 10 min and the food 45. The service was so slow! Not to mention by the time the food came out it was room temperature! Not ideal, it’s horrible!! The food and bar had such high potential, but the staff fell short on their service. It’s unacceptable to not be acknowledged, or even offered an apology for the food running so late.

CD is a fun, hip place and the food was amazing. I had the Fried Chicken and it was unique and absolutely delicious. The wife had the Trout and it was devoured almost instantly. We would definitely return and recommend to anyone.

My first time ever at a Culinary Dropout. Came highly recommended from the hotel staff and I can say I was not disappointed. Food was absolute amazing, server was attentive and knowledgeable, drinks were perfect. I will most definitely be returning on my next stop in Tempe.

This place is incredible. Huge front and back dining rooms. Food and service are excellent. What a cool place, glad we decided to give it a go. Loved the menu and the bartenders know what they are doing. I would definitely visit this place again. Very well done.

Love this place! Service was outstanding from valet and our waiters (except the greeter). The ambiance is fantastic, hip, trendy with rustic modern feel. Entrees were all fresh and made from scratch. Fried chicken and pork rib were excellent. This place actually reminds me of Napa restaurants.

This was an amazing place with great food and service. This is more of a college hangout, but no matter how mature we get, we love a spot with games. It was absolutely beautiful and had ping-pong, corn hole, etc. We had a great time visiting family at this hang out. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed out meal, service was a bit slow seemed as host and wait staff were distracted or understaffed. Good was good, hot and made to order. Took a while to be served after ordering.
