Very strange and disappointing experience. We reserved via Google/The Fork well in advance for a table for 2 people on a Saturday evening. I clicked confirm on the reminder email 2 days before. On Friday afternoon I received 1 missed phone call (not 5 calls as the owner tries to claim). The call was from an unknown number and I was obviously busy at work and unable to answer anyway. Later that evening I randomly checked my spam inbox to see an email from the restaurant owner giving me a 4-hour "ultimatum". This email demanded that I call him back (not email, but call) to confirm the booking by 18:00 or it would be cancelled. I was busy but I replied to the email as soon as I could (around 20:00 the night before, so 24h in advance) saying we were still coming. The next afternoon we were concerned so I made a phone call to the restaurant during which the very impolite owner shouted over me and didn't allow me to explain that his email had gone into Spam (is this my fault?) and that I'd replied as soon as I could. He offered a "very small table in the passage way at a later time", which given the service experience so far, we obviously declined. My assumption is that they deliberately overbook for weekends and this is the strategy to remove the bookings they don't want. Beware.

I've been to this place before, but never again after yesterday's dinner. We first saw the daily menu, including a 3-course dinner for 49 euros, and wine glasses varying between 6-8 euros. The owner recommended the daily specials and especially the oysters, so we went for it. Little did we know, he'd also pick the rest of our meal. After the oysters, it took ages to try and order more. Suddenly, two steaks we didn't ask for appeared. They were taken back but then the owner brought them out again with a bottle of wine we never chose and served himself a generous glass too (we're not talking about quality test). We ended up eating the steaks, which were just okay, and had dessert. The bill came to nearly 280 euros, boosted by an 80(!) euro wine we didn't want or choose. Shocked from the wine price and the expensive choices he made for us, we hesitated to tip, the owner got aggressive and rude, demanding 300 euros, claiming tips are a must in Germany. That's not right; service staff get paid a salary, and tips are optional. We paid the 300 euros as he became louder and more intimidating. I won't return to a place that shoves expensive wine you never planned to order and strong-arms you into paying unwarranted tips. Keep it in mind if you still decide to go and be very strict when it comes to ordering food and wine..

Got the three course meal with no regrets. The food was exceptional, totally understand why it's on the Michelin guide! Scallops and roast beef were on-point, and the lime meringue was the cherry on top! My waitress was very friendly and provided me with great recs and descriptions of dishes. The atmosphere was also very comfortable. Only gripe was that it seemed a bit understaffed with two waiters considering how busy it was. Expect half an hour wait between courses which is understandable given the time it takes to prepare fresh dishes.

We choose the place as the final stop of our Berlin holidays. And we couldn't have made a better choice. We ate the cheese selection and the venison soup, as you can see in the pic. The soups was special, so tasty and delicious. The wine was special too, and the atmosphere was so magic. The waiter Vincenzo and his staff were the cherry on the cake: even the best place in the world isn't so special if people don't make it special. And they make it. They welcome people in German, English and Italian. Certified by Italians ;)

Biggest disappointment with the food and restaurants in Germany. Not worth the high reviews. Panibrat attitude of waiters and vulgar jokes left an unpalatable aftertaste after a very mediocre meal. The wine is cheap for the high price. Not recommended

Seit vielen Jahren immer wieder gern.

Very extensive wine list. The food was delicious. Asparagus soup was great and we really liked Pfälzer Blatt. The service was very friendly.

The Institution of palatina im Berlin. Mostly classics of german soulfood cuisine but also a decent changing three or four courses Menu. Tremendous winelist with a focus on german wineregions and some other gems. The best price-value and deepness of vintages winelist of Berlin! 👏👏👏

Meine Begleitung hatte u.a. Gans mit Grünkohl, passend zur Jahreszeit. Toller Abend - vielen Dank!

Also Google-Suche und diesen tollen Laden gefunden. Die Website hat mich überzeugt. Also einen Tisch reserviert. 👍

The food and wine were nice. You got a great selection of German wines. Only unfortunate thing is that we ran into a large group and the kitchen seemed to be struggling to keep up with the orders of every guest. the decor showed a lot of history of the place, if you manage to run into the owner or his wife, they will tell you all about it! for those who think of sitting outside, beware of flying insects and climbing insects around. there are plenty of seatings indoor to avoid any disturbance to your meals...

The food and the wine were delicious. The staff were all very kind and considerate. I will definitely be back. There was a small mix up about one of my dishes and the staff handled it swiftly and accommodated with a free glass of wine. This showed me that not only do they understand the importance of good food and wine (as you can see) but also of good service ( a rare occurrence in Berlin). This will definitely be a regular stop for us. The food and the wine were amazing, staff was lovely (and spoke English and German) and the prices are very fair.

Vinnie and Seba lead a great team to produce some excellent food that is seasonally adjusted. The wine selection is large and a good one too. Nice cozy atmosphere inside and outside. They also have a separate larger room for bigger groups.

The owner is super friendly and kind enough to let us, the two walk-in customers from Thailand, to have dinner tonight. The food is great and good price. Highly recommended and will come back again when returned to Berlin!

Pretty ok place, nice wines, the food was okay, service was exceptional. The owner/chef/Sommelier was a bit distracted with his personal matters though and had some quite loud guests that me mainly attended to. wasn't too bad but clashed a bit with the overall experience of our visit. Personally, I wouldn't come there again.

This place is absolute wonderful! Great food and service in a rustic setting. German cuisine with a twist and a god wine selection If you stay in another part of town it’s worth jumping on the u-Bahne to get there.

The food is just amazing. During summer they had a delicious ceviche, and the entrecote is also wonderful. The owner and all the staff are really friendly, he always goes to your table to say hi. We ordered also a Christmas menu, everything is perfectly presented and delicious. Just one of our favorite restaurants in Berlin.

We had dinner here last night and it was amazing! Delicious food, great service and a wonderful ambience. The owner was so welcoming, gave us a wine cellar tour and wine tasting. He even uncorked the champagne with a saw! It was awesome!

Vincenzo and his crew were really kind; they made us feel like at home. They offered us a glass of wine as we entered the local. We had a starter and two main courses with two glasses of wine (suggested by one of the waiters!). They were all really good. The place and the people were so good that neither the rain let us go away! :)

Excellent place to enjoy food and of course wine! The service is amazing (no wonder most of them speak French!), the food absolutely delicious and the wine selection almost infinite! I definitely recommend asking the owner's opinion for the wine. You will not only get an amazing wine but also a very entertaining chat.

Without a doubt my favorite place in Berlin. The food and wine is superb. The wine pairing has been flawless and the knowledge of the wines is excellent. You won’t be disappointed. Perfect for a nice evening as a couple or a larger party of around 10. Staff and atmosphere just simply wonderful. Thank you to the team for 4 fantastic evenings! Regards Stuart Gale
