It is impressive, to access the popocatl you have to walk approximately one km and the path is perfectly marked, you can visit it only from the upper part but you have to be careful, it is dangerous. There is also rappelling, but you have to schedule in advance because as such there is no fixed agency that provides the service directly in the place. I was researching and the drop prices are around $1,500. It is also important to know that you cannot descend during the rainy season because the lower part will flood. Without a doubt it is very worth it. You can also camp on site, near the Totomochapa grotto is the camping area.

The best basement to start with and the most beautiful of all in terms of panoramic views. It is also small at only 60 meters.

A magical place, where Mother Nature reminds us of her majesty. I went in a group with a certified guide, local guides and appropriate equipment. We arrived by van to an area where the entrance to the basement is, there is the necessary toilet, changing rooms, shower, everything is rustic, but it serves the purpose, it is worth mentioning that we camped in that area. The family there also sells food, drinks and their own coffee, whether in beans or ground, at affordable prices. The lady told me that her son serves as a guide for people who go alone or without a guide and want to visit the basement since he has his own equipment for the ascent and descent, I don't know the cost. From the entrance to the basement we walked approximately one km and the journey is simply beautiful!

It is a beautiful place, it is about 1 hour from Córdoba towards Coetzala. At the entrance you pay 20 pesos and walk for about 15 minutes along a well-marked path. The lady who lives at the entrance sells food if you ask her when you arrive, and it is delicious 😋.

Our experience in the Popocatl Basement was incredible, it is an imposing, beautiful place, and thanks to the attention of Gabo Rosete who was our guide I can say that the adventure was the best. Without a doubt, I highly recommend it, because our safety is non-negotiable and you cannot do an activity of this type with just anyone. THANK YOU

The basement of Popocatl is a surprising natural place, to live the experience to the fullest you have to rappel down, go down the rope next to the waterfall and enter the cave inside, it is on another level, recommended for the most adventurous. !

I went later on a rainy day and found an incredible waterfall with a lot of water. The basement is worth it! With all the water I didn't rappel down to the bottom but halfway, I recommend!

Incredible experience. It is wonderful to do that rappelling. Going down is easy, but going up requires a challenge because you must go up with your own weight and grasping the technique that they explain to you. The guides are very capable and if there is a case of not being able to go up, they will charge you 500 pesos to get you on. I recommend them and the homemade food. Delicious 😋
